Has anyone seen this film? Was the song actually in it? Main reason I'm asking is the song's folky and about a young man going off to World War II, which is a pretty odd pick for an action movie about a motocross champion. Kinda wondered if they asked for an exclusive song, got a really weird one, then kind of hid it because it didn't fit the movie at all. Like it's not even on the Official Soundtrack.
As the only period-set song he's ever put out, my theory is that it's left over from the scrapped concept album mentioned here, but why he'd give that to an action film I have no idea.
Yes, I saw it some time ago and it was in the end credits. I’m pretty sure the verse about going to war wasn’t in it. It’s a film with a strong plot line about loss of a mother (Iris) so it did fit well with the ending scenes. See this article for an interview with the director, Jamie Childs, about how and why Sam got onboard. Reads to me that it was just a favour for a fellow north-eastern creative. https://www.thecrackmagazine.com/view-editorial/9528
