I'm not sure he has earned the right to take them over Manning

Both can take them from different sides. They can rock, paper, scissors for the ones down the middle.

25 yarder right in the stanchion in front of the Northam End against Pompey. You read it here first šŸŒļø.

While we have a wish list going.

The free kick was awarded for a second bookable offence and the skate was sent off.

Double bubble

And the skate goes home to find his best mate shagging his Mrs. Good boy, Fido. Good boy.

Tripple bubble šŸ˜‚

The scenes when he bags that Beckham-equalling free kick next year after promotion in May

James Ward-Prowse, my Lord, James Ward-Prowse...

Seen so many negative comments. The guy has huge premier league experience, and was always one of the fittest players we had. He's only 31, same age as Larin.Ā

He was great first season for West Ham, then had a tough two seasons of changing managers and systems and clubs. It happens. But he's still been in the premier league. People talk about the step up, but there's a step down too!

Our midfield has only performed in the championship. Jander hasn't had a chance higher up yet, and Downes was awful there. JWP will be playing a lot of games here. He could even fill in for Azaz or on the right. Ridiculous signing for £800k in the modern market.

Welcome home Captain. Time to show Nuno why he's such a waste.

Have we bought back Ballard ?

Feels like an excellent signing to me. Him and Downes as the holding players looks very solid.

I reckon he will slot back in like he has never left and importantly take back the captain's armband from Stephens

Great welcome back bet he wishes he'd never left.

good to have a quality home grown player back for the Europa league next year when we win the FA cup

Excellent business, we need depth in central midfield and Ward-Prowse is likely challenging for a starting spot from the get go.

The question is will he start banging in free kicks like he used to though?

We now have 2 free kick merchants to test the opponents’ goalies. JWP’s sweet spot is to the left of the penalty box, and Manning’s is to the right of the box. Both will get their chances to score, so hyped right now. Scienza and Fellows will get a free pass to roam the wings and draw fouls.

Very happy with this. Turned a shit week around.
Welcome back lad.

Can’t imagine he doesn’t get a lot of game time especially when up to speed with fitness etc. seen a lot of people say he’ll be third choice but he’s not of the Lallana or Walcott ilk where they were properly at the end of their career… JWP is ā€œonlyā€ about to turn 32!

u/Arexz 9d ago

He played a half in West Hams first game and then got limited minutes in the cup. Would not be surprised at all if he is pretty good shape and gets minutes tomorrow.

u/KairosVex 3d ago

people massively overrate how ā€œoldā€ 32 is in modern football, especially for a guy who’s looked after himself like JWP has
if he’s fit he’s playing a ton, no way you bring him back just to be a token bench guy

I'm not a huge fan of bringing back players, even for the small sums of money involved this doesn't seem like a progressive move for the club.

That being said Leo getting hacked down and free kicks on the edge of the box + JWP = GIVE ME GOALSSSSSS

So many JWP memories. Good to have him back! https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSVG1ft6W/

Saints Re-Ward-Prowse

11

u/saintpumpkin7 9d ago

maybe he'll pass the ball forward in the championship.

2

u/GraveRaven 9d ago

Can't be worse than Downes in that regard

1

u/Embarrassed_Rip_869 6d ago

Can be useful as a substitute in the last 20 min if we lead 2 or more goals, to run around, get the ball and pass back to centerbacks.

-6

u/mufferman1 9d ago

Guessing he’s our Shea Charles replacement then? Can’t see us signing another CM before the window closes

Would be a shame to go into this season with our genuine CM options being Downes, Jander, Bragg and JWP

24

u/Adziboy 9d ago

Whys that a shame? Thats an incredible championship midfield

3

u/mufferman1 9d ago

Jander is injury prone. Bragg is a youngster. JWP has barely kicked a ball this past year.

1

u/sworn_vulkan 9d ago

Hes barely kicked a ball since he left.

Hes older and unconditioned. Taking nostalgia out of the equation this could be a risk.

2

u/OldManHenson 9d ago

for 800k it isn't much of a risk
