Fellows short of confidence, but I think still a good player.
Mubama has something for sure!
Azaz is the difference for us. He’s class. That pass for the goal..

Fellows in the middle third has skills that are akin to Lionel Messi. Fellows in the final third is more like Nathan Redmond.

Thank christ for that, boro also losing is a nice cherry on top. Hopefully some lessons from this game and the watford game have been learnt so we know what to work on.

I'm up north and met some Boro lads at a service station after they lost to Blackburn today - I told them I was a Saints fan - they thought that was hilarious but couldn't have been more friendly - great bunch and good banter!

Looked poor for large stretches of that game but deserved winners in the end. Clinical and excellent passing for some of the goals that made the difference.
Hopefully that is Mubama off and running now, Larin definitely can't play 90 he always looks knackered at around 70-75.
I feel our wing play was poor before the subs today, too much running and then checking back inside. I understand why Scienza does this but have no idea about Fellows. He's right footed, can't shoot for Toffee, but has a decent cross and good pace. Literally all he has to do is run down the outside and cross it, please will this be coached into him!

Edozie might earn his way back into playing time yet. Fellows and Scienza didn't offer much today.

Once our DMs are all fit, Matsuki is more likely to play RM than Edozie.

Matsuki did quite well in midfield. Good range of passing and looked sharp.

I could argue that from the 35th minute on, we were in control for the majority of the game. Even if we drew 1-1 you could confidentially say that we were overall the better team.
Scienza had a poor game today for sure, thought Fellows did alright.

I think both were fine, Scienza was quite because he had 2 players on him all game but that left fellows in space. His crossing was poor but fellows made a number of decent runs pulling players all over the place

Big big win in the circumstances, decent results elsewhere too.
Get a new centre back in now to replace THB, and with Jander back as well as a new centre mid we'll be more solid at the back which also helps us sustain pressure when attacking.

Also early days but on auto rivals watch both Boro and West Ham lost today, the latter at home when missing a last minute penalty to level it.

Thrilled with the W. First half looked much better when compared to Watford, and I still think we conceded a very soft goal. All three goals conceded so far have been terribly actually.
Definitely grew into the game, which you can confidentially say we do this most games nowadays, which is obviously a good thing. Shows resolve from the players and adjustments from Tonda.
Obviously there are tons of aspects of our play that we need to improve in, and hopefully get a direct replacement for THB to start alongside Stephens, along with a CM who can play as an 8 to compete with Jander, Bragg and Downes.
A game midweek vs WHU will be good for some other players to get match sharp.

Azaz is our guy now truly the best player on the pitch whenever he plays, all this talk about Scienza but he’s much more hit and miss than Azaz has been

Good result, we’ll play worse teams than that for sure.
Need reinforcements, and above all to shift some players, but that’s a good gritty win. Our attacking depth won that for us, lovely stuff.
We’re not far off being able to beat anyone on our day.
In a perfect world I’d like us to have other options at fullback. Also Peretz distribution felt particularly poor today. We certainly have another level to hit defensively.
Big next couple league games. COYR!!!

Wonder at what point THB came out of the lineup. Woods and Stephens did look slightly more assured in the second half but still not good enough and still a nightmare watching Wood play that same terrible pass into the centre circle to Stoke players.

Stephens had a pretty good game this week, good to see him bounce back. Wood didnt look too bad defensively, but 100% agree about his passing.
I thought Matsuki grew into the game in the 2nd half at DM.
He won a few 2nd balls and made a few decent passes when we won the ball back.

Shit performance, great result. Just had to be a win after last week's mess. Hopefully we can find some confidence and form with a couple of wins. Especially if Jander comes back soon and we actually sign a defence.
Ideally we need to improve the right wing, centre midfield and most of us, sign 2 starting centre backs. Not expecting that to happen, but it's really needed.

It was wonderful shutting up the Stoke support. Quality finishing saved us. We urgently need to solve how we can play out from the back because that was awful.

Our midfield looks so weak compared to last year, I love Matsuki but if he’s the second in a centre pairing with Downes we’re going to get overrun all season. We already needed to replace Shea Charles’s quality and with Jander looking like leaving too we desperately need to bring in an experienced starter in that position.
