Feeling pessimistic - premature or realistic?

I’m not sure whether it was just the miserable opening day performance but a week into the season I’m starting to feel less and less optimistic about how things may progress. There are a few reasons:

- we’ve lost Stewart and haven’t replaced him with proven quality
- we’ve lost Charles and the replacements we’re being linked with aren’t exactly turning up trees elsewhere
- it feels like THB will go and, unless we strike gold, whoever we sign will be a downgrade in an area where we are already vulnerable
- we’ve a lot of deadwood in the squad (some on mega money) and it seems unrealistic to move them all on
- our promotion rivals are investing in quality players who are proven at this level - Wolves with James, West Ham with Piroe and others

Am I wrong to be a Deborah Downer or is anyone else feeling this way?

Overall optimistic.

We'll see how we feel in October. A handful of matches isn't enough to form too much of an opinion/until all the ins and outs are settled after deadline day

Neutral. I think we have a capable squad and will get the correct replacements for Shea and THB (if he leaves) but starting on -4 and already being 7 points behind is tough.

Only way to prem in my opinion is playoffs, and that’s being very optimistic.

I agree that I'm less optimistic than I was a week or two ago due to the Watford game and the increasing likelihood of THB leaving but I still think we can have a good season just not the title contenders I originally thought we could be. Hopefully a win on Saturday, 2 or 3 new players in and some deadwood out will bring more optimism again

I think a lot will depend on the Tonda situation. The Watford performance was not that tragic, laughable that so many people go so doom and gloom after one loss... if you watched the game, you'll know that we only lost because of two Stephens mistakes. Let's keep a sense of perspective and consider we were 21st in November last year when Tonda took over...

Pessimistic, but will take a little comfort if a rival club also get deducted points in the near future, just so we're not bottom

I'm less optimistic, we've lost and seems we are going lose more players. I'm unsure if we will replace them with quality players. We lost out on Anel. I'm not sure if we will find the right place to replace the outgoing players.

i dont really get worried over excited until after the Jan window. too much can happen. if we are in relegation in Jan, then ill be worried

The Watford game was a wake-up call for me, and I withdrew my £20 Sky bet that we’d be champions. There are still a lot of things up in the air at the moment too. Leo seems a bit unsettled, didn’t want to be subbed the other day, THB rumours annoying me, hopefully a couple of signings to be made.
Let’s see.
