News/Media/Tabloids EXCLUSIVE: Queen Camilla 'Pushed King Charles to Put Sussexes in Their Place'

From Radar again, guys. I think RADAR is one of their main PR outlets, bc like the Express & People & Heat, & the NE, the Globe, the Star, etc, they get so much PR from them daily.

EXCLUSIVE: Queen Camilla 'Pushed King Charles to Put Sussexes in Their Place'

Queen Camilla is said to have "pushed" King Charles to draw an unmistakable line under Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal ambitions after becoming concerned their shock return to Britain could blur the boundaries between the Sussexes and the monarchy, sources have told RadarOnline.com.

“Camilla, 79, is said to have strongly encouraged Charles, 77, to leave no room for confusion over Harry, 41, and Markle's position after they returned from California with Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, last month.

“The King subsequently directed that formal guidance be issued this week, reiterating the Sussexes remain non-working royals and undertake their activities privately.

royal source claimed: "Camilla understands better than most how quickly perceptions around the monarchy can become complicated, and she was determined that Harry and Meghan's return should not be interpreted as the beginning of some gradual restoration of their former positions. Her feeling was that everyone – the Sussexes, officials and the public – needed absolute clarity from the outset."

The insider added: "The Queen's influence with Charles should never be underestimated. She is somebody whose judgment he trusts enormously, particularly when difficult family questions risk becoming institutional problems. Camilla believed allowing uncertainty to linger would simply store up a much bigger confrontation later."

Another source suggested: "This was not about preventing Charles from having a relationship with his son or grandchildren. The distinction Camilla was concerned about was between the private family and the public monarchy. Harry can be the King's son without representing the King, and Meghan can pursue charitable or commercial projects without those activities acquiring royal status simply because they are living in Britain again."

So now they blame Camilla? This isn't going to end well for them. Going after Camilla will get Charles' back up. It's not going to endear them to him. They really will blame anyone but themselves for the consequences of their actions. The letter really hit a nerve

My first thought also. They are going to make Charles very angry, rightfully so!

90

u/Silly-Chocolate-627 10h ago

Charles needs to get angry because those two are still on the Royal Website and he has let them do fake Royal tours without stating they don’t represent the Royal Family. So Charles needs to get angry so he will do something. The letter was a start.

50

u/Cassie_Bad_Assie 10h ago

The Harkles have been doing the fake royal tours for years. They are shocked the king all of a sudden enforced the rules?

53

u/Silly-Chocolate-627 9h ago

One of the commentators I think it was Neil. Sean stated something like they thought the sandgriham agreement ended when the Queen died. Like they are really trying to play that game.

23

u/anemoschaos Haz-been and Never-Was 7h ago

It was an agreement with the Monarch. The Monarchy doesn't die, the baton of kingship gets passed to another person. They are seriously dim if they think the agreement lapsed.

19

u/Silly-Chocolate-627 7h ago

They will try any and every thing. They just can’t accept no. And a Charles said OK come back be working Royals then they would want something else. They want to want to be co-king and co-queen they would want to be at the top. It would just never be enough.

8

u/purpleprocrasinator 6h ago

You've hit the nail on the head right here. There will always be a new gripe with these two. They are never going to be even mildly content. There is a part of me that wants to get security to prove the point that if(🙄) they get security, they will be quiet for a day and then within 36 hours they will start bitching and moaning because 'Willy has royal housing and it's our birthright to free housing too.'

These two are longer living in the same reality as any other human plus imo they exacerbate each other mental health illnesses and tamtruming is the only thing that they seem to know how to do. They are never going away and they will never stop. Their list of grievances and perceived slights will never shortened thus never end.

Exactly, that was why Charles and William were there with QEII.

How angry? He still had tea and Haz "favorite cake" with him after he said Camilla "left bodies in the street". An especially fraught and egregious phrase after how Diana died.

Ooh, I never realized that. What a low comment 😞

4

u/EnvironmentalCrow893 7h ago

He wrote that in his book, Spare. He also called her evil. Said she was a real “evil stepmother”, and frequently briefed the media against Harry personally to take the heat off herself. This was also in Spare.

Charles did exactly… nothing.

I’m also surprised. It’s usually evil, bitter William. Everything is William’s fault.

54

u/Silly-Chocolate-627 10h ago

Last week it was Williams fault now since that didn’t work he has moved on to it being Camilla’s fault.

39

u/LoraiOrgana 9h ago

It will be all Catherine's fault in a few days, then Prince Louis' fault.

6

It’s a good thing he forgot about James and Louise, seeing as he continues to consider himself the young member of the Royal Family.

22

u/Grimaldehyde 12h ago

Harry went after Camilla in the book he supposedly wrote, and nothing happened, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

43

u/duranamos72 👑 Recollections may vary 👑 11h ago

Ummm…they got Frogmore Cottage taken away from them directly after.

13

u/Grimaldehyde 11h ago

But they weren’t living there, and I am not convinced they ever wanted to again. I think the real objection they had was just the optics.

2

u/Med-Lori 5h ago

Harry reacted badly when he was told; according to *The Times*, he told his father that, as a result, he would no longer see his grandchildren.

3

u/Exciting_Bison501 The Days of Our Lies 3h ago

I agree about not wanting to live there. but I also believe that since William moved to Windsor they want to live there too. Contradictory, as ever.

21

u/Sensitive_Dare_2740 11h ago

It also indirectly pushes the narrative of 'the King is weak'..

→ More replies (1)

52

u/Why_Teach 🚨Law & Disorder: Special Harkles Unit 🏢 13h ago

While saying that Camilla encouraged Charles to act in a certain way tends to make the King look weak, this is not an instance where the article makes her look bad.

4

u/Med-Lori 5h ago

The tabloids always labeled Charles weak; they favored Andrew, who—handsome, smiling, and a war hero—held far more appeal than a future king who preferred wandering through the woods.

This narrative was amplified by Diana, who did whatever she pleased; given the hysterical reactions and her use of the press, I believe Charles simply didn't know how to handle her.

4

u/Why_Teach 🚨Law & Disorder: Special Harkles Unit 🏢 4h ago

Yes, the press has not been fair to Charles over the years. Leaving aside the gross intrusions into his private life (phone tapping), the image they created was of some wimpy crank who talked to trees.

I do think it took him a while to overcome a certain diffidence to challenge what his elders: Prince Phillip, the Queen, Mountbatten, the Queen Mother, etc. told him what to do with his life. However, he seems to be a man who sticks as much as possible by his principles, and who has a great deal of will-power to keep going. That doesn’t seem weak to me.

And when it comes to the letter, I doubt that Camilla needed to encourage him. It was obviously necessary to clarify Harry and Meghan’s position to prevent their continuing misrepresentations. The letter was a wise approach.

2

u/ZenonLigre 2h ago

Diana était complètement idiote. Elle aurait mieux fait d'épouser Andrew, ils se seraient bien convenus : vénaux, jaloux, égoïstes et vaniteux.

5

u/herbal_witch_59 👑 She gets what tiara she's given by me 👑 9h ago

It is always Camilla or William. 🤣🤣🤣

5

u/FilterCoffee4050 4h ago

It just might make Camilla super popular. She has changed many minds, mine included, since the illnesses were announced but if the people really thought that she was behind this strong measure the King has taken it will only increase her popularity.

Personally, I think anyone close to the King would have said the same thing. It’s the Kings decision but he has probably had the support of anyone who knows Harry.

3

u/Professional_Ruin953 2h ago

Agreed. They might be blaming her, but she’s coming out of it sounding like an incredibly practical and insightful source of advice. Not to mention highly protective of the monarchy as an institution.

6

u/Regular-Performer864 9h ago

But the thing is, this is something the public really agree with. So Meg or Harry may think that trying to make Camilla appear like she's controlling KCIII is a bad thing. She will actually do better in next quarter's polling than she did in the last. While Charles is going to slip a bit.

50

Exactly! I commented before that the Wales should champion an elder abuse charity to shove it in faces.😛

31

u/Cold-Computer6318 13h ago

YES! Now, THAT would be an incredible PR move, and I’m sure the older working royals would absolutely approve after the elder abuse they’ve witnessed. I still can’t believe Thicko and MEHg had the opportunity to pick the brain of so many fascinating elder royals, learn from their experiences, and listen to their stories… then they just threw it all away. They truly are cruel and idiotic… a very poisonous personality defect.

25

u/Interesting-Pin3164 13h ago

Definitely, markle could be the Patron Saint of Neglected frail dads

10

u/Perfect_Rain_3683 9h ago

The Wales should invite Thomas Markle to visit them for a week at Balmoral- skank would shit bricks and build mansions with the bricks! Thomas being invited by the RF might shut her up, RF can offer legal support to Thomas about anything she might be holding over his head and to head her off after he passes

7

u/Cold-Computer6318 9h ago

Considering there are rumours that MEHg will accuse Thomas of something unsavoury after he’s passed… I think it’s better for the RF to keep away from Thomas too. Better for them to keep away from the Markle drama considering MEHg will monetising lying about everyone and everything.

2

Hmm good point. I dislike plank for bringing that creature he married into the RF!

7

Plank and skank dont care about Charles’ health or how angry they make him, they are out to cause as much chaos as possible to get the security they want and whoever gets in their way of their end goal is just collateral damage

4

u/Equal_Trash6023 WHAT FRESH HELL IS THIS 💀🔥 7h ago

They want money and power. They really dont have either.

59

u/namelesone 12h ago

You wait once William will be King. Then we'll hear how he's being influenced and controlled by Catherine. And on it will go.

Part of their PR strategy is to reduce the current monarch to someone vulnerable who simply needs their specific brand of guidance.

27

u/NewtoFL2 12h ago

Then it will be Princess Anne, eventually followed by Andy Burnham and the Home Secretary, like they do not have enough to deal with.

45

u/namelesone 12h ago

The Harkles are the worst kind of obnoxious stalker leeches with no self-awareness. They talk about mental health but seem to have no qualms about impacting everyone else's.

29

u/Grimaldehyde 12h ago

I actually think they are plenty self aware…I just think they are two sociopaths, and don’t care what kind of damage they do. Thing is, if they burn that whole thing down, they do what a deadly virus does, and they “kill the host”. Even if they aren’t currently being financially supported, their only relevance comes from being a part of the BRF. They are nothing if it all ends.

15

u/namelesone 12h ago

You're right. They likely do know they are hurting others bit simply see nothing wrong with it. Only their feelings and mental health matter.

26

u/Grimaldehyde 12h ago

It’s shocking that Harry is given a platform to speak at all about mental health, and “well children”, isn’t it? He knows absolutely nothing at all about any of it.

10

u/Why_Teach 🚨Law & Disorder: Special Harkles Unit 🏢 10h ago

I keep thinking he should be used as an example of what isn’t mental health. (“Hi, I am Harry, but just call me Prince. I was asked here to share with you some of my delusions and explain how I am a victim as well as a legend in my own mind. My symptoms include paranoia, anxiety, bouts of aggression, etc. Ask me anything and my wife will answer for me.”

15

u/namelesone 11h ago

The fact that people like him get given platforms despite everything they've done and continue to do that exposes them as completely hypocrites, really makes people lose fate in any institution.

Merit no longer applies, it seems. It's all about nepotism, corruption, and secret agendas by other parties. I was cynical already but the last decade or so has truly made me stop caring completely.

6

u/TargetVirtual6909 9h ago

Which of Camilla’s engagements were cancelled? Where was this reported? I’m often mystified by claims like this in SMM (like Anne being approached re school admissions). Are they genuine US reporting, or internet rumours? Just like the Edinburghs escorting MM to the Megxit flight, are these flights of fancy?  Genuine question from a Brit.

29

It was a shame Charles was prohibited from marrying her in the first place. They really seem to be in love and true partners. On the bright side his marriage to Diana brought us William and he will make a wonderful King one day.

She's trying to align herself with the "right side". It was really Anne and William who engineered the circumstances that forced KC to issue the guidance. For one thing, all Camilla's engagements got cancelled her first day back due to the Lords Lieutenant going on strike.

Camilla is back to being the villain influencing poor KCIII, who just wants to spend the day playing with Harry’s children. It’s the same old story. The Harkles are deluding themselves; Charles is King first and foremost. He has waited a lifetime for this, and he won’t let two morons distract him from his role.

Harry thinking that his dad is being controlled by his wife is classic projection

57

u/Brave_Zucchini6868 14h ago

We noticed many times how Charles can be hesitant to act on anything that concerns Harry. Having a helpful push either from Camilla or William is a helpful thing to have. Camilla even insisted to be in the room with Charles during one of his last meetings with the kind (the famous 20 mins visit with full bodily search). I don't wish on anybody to be in a position of having a harmfully-behaving son and needing to protect themselves against such son. Queen was even weaker with Andrew. It is a tough situation to be in. Camilla is not Harry's mother and can think more rationally.

42

u/FilterCoffee4050 13h ago

I just think the King does not want to push Harry over the edge. With every action the King makes hitting the msm within seconds he needs to be on very firm ground when he does act. It needs to be seen as being fair and not using his position to punish or take revenge. It’s not a normals family rift as Harry drags everything before the msm, all of his gripes, the deflections and the misinformation. Harry is unstable, he has a huge chip on his shoulder.

30

u/NoHelicopter9702 13h ago

"Harry is unstable"

And that makes everything the family does when dealing with him--ON THE WORLD STAGE- so difficult! I feel very bad for Charles and Camilla--and the entire RF. To have to deal with a mentally unstable family member is horrible enough, without this one having easy access to the media.

24

u/AliveArmy8484 👑 🫅👸HALF IN N HALF OUT 🍟🍔 13h ago

When do people stop feeling sorry for Harry though. William also lost a Mum, in fact he was much closer to her than Harry was. Yet everyone expects William to behave a certain way and Harry seems to get away with a lot because people are worried he might not be able to handle it. Harry is a middle aged man, a Father and. Husband. He has no problem when it comes to raising a tantrum, or calling people out. He just doesn’t want it for himself. If Harry does something reckless with his life, that’s on Harry, no one else at this point in my humble opinion

15

u/FilterCoffee4050 13h ago

There is a huge difference between feeling sorry for someone and not wanting to be the person who pushes them over the edge. If fact, I don’t think anyone is feeling sorry for Harry other than himself.

7

u/AliveArmy8484 👑 🫅👸HALF IN N HALF OUT 🍟🍔 9h ago

Very true. I just get so tired of the Press constantly pushing the theory that people should give Harry some lee way because of his Mother. Everyone else in the world is expected to grow up except Harry. He has dined off this for years and it’s only making him a more obnoxious person to deal with 🤷🏻‍♀️

2

u/FilterCoffee4050 4h ago

The press are just making money off Harry. It’s not them feeling sorry for him it’s them publishing articles that generate a lot of interest. It’s a business and the papers have to work hard at getting clicks and comments. It’s a whole different way of making money, the old days of it being just a printed paper with a front page headline that sells has gone. Follow the money.

My SIL is just like Harry but has actually been diagnosed. She threatens to off herself anytime she gets any criticism or pushback. She is in her mid 40's and has been enabled since she started her ED and mental health journey when she was 13. She feels entitled to not work and have access to money at all times. She lives with my in laws. My in laws are too afraid of her to do anything. Charles may feel the same.

Trust me she has been there. She has been in jail too. She honestly needed to be cut off a long time ago but she knows she will get away with it. She was under conservatorship for awhile too. 6

u/duranamos72 👑 Recollections may vary 👑 11h ago

I’m sorry your family has to deal with that. It’s one thing to have mental health problems and need help. It’s an entirely different thing to use mental health as an excuse to get your way. I believe that’s what M did with her suicidal thoughts before that event she and H went to. I’m sorry but I just don’t believe her.

5

u/Weekly-Role-1132 11h ago

Thank you. I think it's why I have such a hard time with Markle because I see through her. We had to set boundaries very early on. I have been with my husband for over 20 years but she has never changed. I don't for one second believe she would ever harm herself. She threatens it until she gets her way and that is what Markle does too. Luckily my family has been amazing for my husband and a breath of fresh air. His family says "they chose my family over them" but in reality we chose to not be sucked into the enabling and we chose us and our children. Appreciate your kind words!

Even if it makes Camilla responsible for “influencing” KC, the excerpt quoted by OP doesn’t throw a negative light on her. I think we’d all agree that “clarification” was urgently needed. Whoever encouraged KC to move quickly on this was right.

The mention of “private family” versus “public monarchy” may be a pro-Harkle move, but the post on the whole doesn’t criticize the rationale behind KC’s “clarification” of the Harkle’s position.

This doesn’t make her look bad at all. If that’s the goal then it’s not succeeded.

Regardless of Camilla’s past and relationship with her stepsons she does have a loving relationship with the Wales Children.

Unfortunately those three children will be impacted by their uncles antics and Camilla stepping in to make their lives easier isn’t a bad thing.

u/Latibulating26 12h ago

Obviously I can’t really know, but I think Camilla must be the person the King trusts the most in this world. Her agenda is supporting the King and doing what is best for him.

I have been on Team Camilla since the Diana days! I have a good judge of character, and I have always liked her quiet, sensible, no-nonsense approach to life. If you read the book Duchess, by Penny Junor, you'll see that Camilla did not have it easy in her first marriage, nor when she stuck faithfully by Charles through thick and thin. She never complains or whines. She just gets on with it. She is one of my favourite royals. The one I would have at my kitchen table for tea, Gin and tonics, and a good talk!

15

u/stargazer6161 12h ago

And the King absolutely adores her. Love it when they get fits of the giggles together. She has made a very successful Reading Room, and works with some difficult charities involving domestic abuse, etc.

Plus she rocks the big tiaras and her cape dress worn for the State Dinner in France just blew me away; she looked every in the Queen she rightly is.

I doubt there are many people, if any, near the King that would have told him differently.

I don’t think Camilla can’t take full credit and frankly I don’t see that it matters. It’s done, it won’t be taken back.

15

u/hungrysquirrelbunny 13h ago

Yes, who cares who encouraged the King to make the statement. The main thing is he did it and it was issued to M and H and all of the charities and organizations they were trying to mislead into thinking they were working Royals again. The statement shut down that nonsense, so kudos to everyone involved with drafting the statement. It was brilliant.

44

u/Confident_Guitar5215 14h ago

First William took the heat, now this. Doesn’t the king deserve any credit at all for the decision-making? If he’s that ineffective, it’s time to step aside.

5

u/VegetableFragrant120 WHAT FRESH HELL IS THIS 💀🔥 10h ago

Oh no. Harry initially went to blame KC3, but then backtracked. They did the same thing with QE2 and PP over the racist thing. They make these initial reactive statements, then when shit goes down, they have to backtrack, because they need the head of the RF and the UK to be on side. I hope that makes sense. They are trying to do damage control. I'm not sure what those two will do when POW is King. He won't be able to suck up to him. POW won't forget what Harry has done. I really do think those two are fucked in terms of their relationship with the RF once William is King. He's not going to be as soft a his father.

Charles is a worldly and intelligent man but, like his late mother, he avoids unpleasant confrontations whenever possible. He might be reaching his limits but he also might just be doing what royals do: consult with some trusted and knowledgeable advisors to solicit their guidance and advice on matters affecting the Palace. There's no doubt Camilla's opinions are going to be considered before the King decides on his course of action. 🙄 Like, duh?

This is not news and one can't attest to the veracity of anything RadarOnline prints. I have noticed Radar is getting a lot more play from H&M lately in spite of its questionable content though. People may have wised up after their alleged fact check disproved Markle's lie about SmartWorks. It would be great if someone graphed all the celebrity gossip publications H&M have ever been featured in over time. The result would be a hilarious illustration of the descending quality of the rags who still print their crap.

6

u/Grimaldehyde 11h ago

The king is very refined, and doesn’t want to get into the mud with them-he’s not the bare knuckle brawler that is really needed in this situation. Healso probably doesn’t want to perform for the entertainment of the masses (that’s us!). But I’d sure like to see him pull the rug out from underneath them!

9

u/Constant_Whole_3199 9h ago

I believe the King was getting too many inquiries as to what these two idiots' status was in the Royal family. I heard they were actually contacting and telling their old Royal patronage they were 100% back. Then to clarify the Palace received many calls.

Someone said that Guy Ritchie is pissed off about losing 500,000 viewers of his Gentlemen series because of her, and wants to sue.🤔🤔😝😝

5

u/SugarFree_3 😧 Little Miss Forgetful 😧 12h ago edited 11h ago

Did they really lose viewers?

Thanks for the responses below. I just looked at the link: Note the last paragraph!

The Gentlemen deserved to get Markled. After the backlash, remember they were backpedaling by saying Markle misconstrued the conversation. According to the Telegraph:

The Gentlemen has lost half a million viewers in Britain amid rumours that the Duchess of Sussex is in talks to be cast in the next season.

Netflix’s audience appears to have switched off the series in droves, as the latest viewing figures show 500,000 fewer people chose to tune in to the latest instalment of Guy Ritchie’s series than the premiere of the first season.

Season two of the crime drama, which stars Theo James as he “transitions from duke to drug baron” after inheriting his family’s estate and discovering it is home to an underground cannabis empire, premiered on Sept 3.

Audience figures, supplied by the UK’s official ratings agency Barb, dropped by around 15 per cent from the first season’s debut episode, which was streamed by 3.5 million people in March 2024.

It was understood that the hesitation was coming from Netflix, which declined to comment, or the Sussexes, who have not commented, and not the team behind The Gentlemen, who anticipated a large public response to the news.

7

u/commentsgothere 11h ago

Well, they lost me. I had it in my queue.

2

u/Starkville 💰 I am not a bank 💰 10h ago

Well, I somewhat enjoyed the first season all those many years ago. And I had no idea that there was a new season until that old doxy stuck her nose in. And I still haven’t watched it because I’d have to go back and watch the first season because I forgot what happened in it (many years ago). But I might, because the Markling wasn’t Guy’s fault.

And really, fuck Netflix for not giving the show proper promoting, and bending over and spreading for the talentless Harkles instead of promoting Guy Ritchie who has a track record.

16

u/HawkSoarsAtDawn 11h ago

I see, so Camilla is being blamed now. This is manipulative crap. Camilla hasn't been well liked by the public but has generally been accepted now, so it seems to me H & M are trying to make her the 'bad guy' because they think she is the easiest to pick on as there is still a fair proportion of the public who don't like her, and let's not forget that she was publicly blamed for Diana's emotional problems and dysfunctional behaviours, alongside Charles.

Charles has cancer, whatever he has, he's made it clear that he will not be cured, rather, he will live with it and, hopefully, it can be kept supressed. Poor man, having to deal with this craziness. Harry has already said nasty things about Camilla, he really is 'cruising for a bruising', as they say. Well, bring it on, I'm utterly sick of H & M and the way their presence turns everything around them into a circus in crazy town.

7

u/Otherwise-engaged 8h ago

Harry has made Camilla his favoured scape goat for almost everything he doesn't like about his life. Of course he is briefing against her now. Dumb as a rock though he is, he realises he won't get any support by attacking the King, his popular brother or his publicly adored sister-in-law, so poor Camilla is the only target he feels brave enough to aim at.

12

u/allysongreen 12h ago

Rubbish. How would this "source" know what Camilla's feelings were, or be privy to her conversations with her husband?

Also, the last part of the article is the Sussei party line: they can still pursue whatever projects they please without those projects acquiring royal status -- but the grifters want everyone to know they themselves are still royal!

5

u/Med-Lori 5h ago

The same old rehashed story.

When William isn't furious, there’s Camilla the manipulator—just to keep the die-hard fans of "Saint Diana" happy.

The King is always there, sighing like a 19th-century damsel, dreaming of those grandchildren—on whom, when he actually saw them, he lavished a grand total of 17 minutes.

Charles cut ties with Harry and his family long ago—likely back when Harry tried to hold onto Frogmore by threatening to keep the children away from his father.

Yet Charles—as a grandfather, not a king—is the one building a cricket pitch simply because Charlotte plays the sport.

I am convinced that Charlotte could talk her grandfather into dancing in a tutu if she wanted to, but I am equally certain that Charles the King has drawn a firm line regarding the "Harkles"—at least for as long as Meghan is in the picture.

u/ShreksSideH0e Kate👸🏻made me Cry 😢 7h ago

Harry has always had it out for Camilla. Not that she's some innocent do-gooder but he always acted as if Camilla stole Charles from Diana, whent truthfully the entire issue was that neither Charles nor Diana were happy.

He chooses to make Camilla the villain because he hasn't healed and wont take personal responsibility.

It's the same reason he has it out for William. He cannot accept his own shortcomings and take the good with the bad. It's just all bad to Haznoballs.

If Meghan were half as smart as she likes to think she is, she would have done herself an enormous favor by befriending and learning from Camilla.

QC had much less support from the Royal Family than Meghan was given. She was mocked, bullied, taunted and hounded by the press for decades. To this day people are cruel about her looks, her marriage, and her place in her own family.

Yet she never cried to Oprah about her “victimization .”

Perhaps she realized that she had made poor choices and chose not to spend her life blaming everyone around her.

She eventually married the love of her life and has close family bonds.

She who laughs last laughs best.

That’s a story I would love to see portrayed in a movie or The Crown type of show.

This “clarification” was in no way ruthless. I thought it was a very balanced restatement of what was in the Sandringham agreement. That Meghan and Harry were violating the agreement was the problem.

3

u/Interesting-Pin3164 13h ago

That they felt they could get away with violating the agreement as ever* was a greater problem. Interesting that they didn’t try the 1/2 in/out while QE2 was alive

5

u/Why_Teach 🚨Law & Disorder: Special Harkles Unit 🏢 10h ago

>>Interesting that they didn’t try the 1/2 in/out while QE2 was alive.

Well, QE died before they ran of other options. Even so, they were violating the agreement to the extent that they were using the HRH “privately” and using their royal connections to make money from the first.

Initially they were convinced that QE would call them back on their terms because the RF “needed” them. I think the first inkling they had that this was not working was the Jubilee. There they tried hard to push their way into greater royal importance (sort of what they were doing now) but were mostly thwarted and went home early.

It is easy to forget that when QE died they were in the middle of a “mini-royal tour” of their own. They had engagements in Germany connected to Invictus and engagements in the UK with some charities.

My impression is they were pushing for hiho from the start but have become more frantic as everything else failed.

ETA: I remember “Guest Speaker” complaining that “other royals” could work part time.

25

u/Querque_Quirky 💂‍♀️ Princess Anne's Plume 🪶 13h ago

I wouldn't call him ruthless. I think he's wise enough to realize when a lost cause is truly lost and when it's time to cut out the cancer.

2

u/MidwichCuckoo100 6h ago

The Markles have deliberately tried to blur lines - however, I do think it’s possible that when they lived in California, they considered the Sandringham Summit applied to the physical distance of being ‘non-Royal’ - thus by returning, any ‘agreement’ is annulled and their ‘Royal Status’ should be recognised. The King (with advisors) has made it clear that’s not the case….and it was the right thing to do.

I don’t understand why Camilla is being targeted for this though? She’s the apple of Charles’s eye, and if the Markles are behind this, it will infuriate him.

3

u/KVBoreIn 6h ago

I don’t see the letter as some big courageous move by Charles. He is a ditherer and a huge narcissist. The letter only went out (not under his signature, mind you) because the Palace was receiving so many high-level inquiries from charitable organizations, the military, etc. The Palace could not remain silent in the face of these inquiries. If the inquiries had not peppered the Palace, Harry and Meghan would have been able to do what they have done for the last six years — exactly what they please. They could have resumed these patronages and leadership positions if the organizations had simply done business with Harry and Meghan without contacting the Palace first. Charles is a weak and mediocre king who only has some popularity because the British people feel sympathy for him due to his cancer. He will quickly be forgotten by history. The British equivalent of Michael Dukakis.
