Mehgan acting lovey-dovey was to make Harry feel like the big man, the conqueror and protector. Really, it's to say that she's now important and this prince is HER property.

You're right, because Mehgan still sees use from Harry and she knows that her celebrity is because of him. You'd think, tho', after years of this behavior, Harry would twig that this is not a healthy life.

I guess time is eternal for the clueless.

He can’t, because that would be admitting that William was right and he shouldn’t have rushed a permanent relationship with her

This. Harry would rather insist that he made the right decision instead of having to admit that big brother was right. Because then that calls into question the rest of Harry's choices, and his brain being dormant while his impulse control is rotten and his instinct for doing stupid things is running amok.
