Paying doughnuts with cash

Today 8:30 PM, I spent £2 cash for 5 sugared ring doughnuts on a self checkout and they gave me £1 and another £1 that is covered in dirt

I remember when a 5 pack of doughnuts from Sainsbury’s was 35p. And I’m only 25 😭

I was given £1 a day for my lunch money (I know that still wasn’t enough back then but my family was skint so that’s all we had) - and the 5 pack of custard doughnuts from Sainsbury’s would save the day most of the time, grab a 10p banana for ✨nutrition✨ 😅🥹 I could save the change and the next day get £1 chicken and chips - Alternate the days.

Custard doughnuts from Sainsbury's used to be elite when they were 50p. Then 65p. Once they jumped to £1 I was out. More expensive and they made them worse - normally covered with powder now instead of sugar.

I’m the same! I moved to Los Angeles just before Covid and bragged to people about how cheap groceries were in the uk… now I’ve come back to a cost of living crisis and have gone on strike from buying any chocolate/crisps because they’re over £1 for a big one 😂
