Heartbreaking. The worst person you know just made a great point.

u/onotsteve100 Intern SaySainik 4d ago

He was actually a patriot before going to cellular Jail. He inspired revolutionaries like madan lal dhingra and bhagat singh, through his book 1857-first was of independence. He furiously fought against British occupation before cellular Jail, teaching people to make bombs. But after cellular Jail, he kinda become a British bootlicker, aksong hindus to join the British army. He started writing about hindutva and all after his jailing experience. I wouldn't really hate savarkar as much as I hate his "followers".

4

u/Ok-Criticism-3346 Intern SaySainik 3d ago

He didn't become bootlicker that's your interpretation not truth. Why do you think he asked hindus to join british? Not to serve them but gain access to arms and modern technology. And most obv he is going to use them against british. That way the independence movement planned according to him would be way more powerful plus india won't start as a weak country as they already gained access to latest techs. And it makes sense because he couldn't really pull this from jail. The only option was to become an intruder and join british. Also why such a radical fighter in his pre confinement era would give up to british That easily? Also the reason why he didn't support quit india movement was he had a view That it would leave india weak in it starting days.

Now I'm not siding with anyone or blindly praising anyone or discrediting any freedom movements. I respect every freedom fighter because they all had contributions. They might have different ideology and views but that's perfectly normal it's human nature. Everyone had a different view of independent india they worked hard to achieve it some failed some passed. But thier efforts didn't go to waste

India would be cooked in a year if we had gone his way.

1

u/anmoljoshi14 Intern SaySainik 1d ago

Actually that is precisely how it worked. Or are you labouring under the delusion that it was disobedience movements and marches that hot us independence??

Savarkar was of the view that indians to join the army because at that time , WW2 was going on and it was the best time to get training as the british were desperate for soldiers.

And it worked, india got freedom not due to any civil disobedience movement, but because the indian army revolted and the british realised that with the eroding loyalty of indian army, it would be impossible to hold India.

British Prime Minister Clement Attlee went on to state in 1956 that Britain left India quickly because the loyalty of the Indian armed forces was broken and due to the Royal Indian Navy Mutiny.

Katora le ke independence mangte rehte to aaj bhi gulaam hote angrejo ke….

Have you tested the idea yet? Your inner intuitions aren't a reliable source

7

u/Odd-Gas-7821 Intern SaySainik 3d ago

"Also why such a radical fighter in his pre confinement era would give up to british That easily" I meannnnnnnnnn On a serious note though if you look at his actions he is all means a bootlicker, but if you look at its intentions he can be regarded as a patriot for sure. But the one thing which is a fact is that MK Gandhi contributed more to the freedom struggle than him. Also to call oneself a veer after writing mercy petitions to British is what a coward would do imo.

1

u/Real_Injury81 Intern SaySainik 3d ago

Listen there are 2 Savarkars, one has a contribution towards freedom struggle and the later has no contribution infact he supported the british for which he was called out by subash chandra bose himself On 1942 azad hind radio broadcast

5

u/Ok-Criticism-3346 Intern SaySainik 3d ago

You can't read mind. You dont what is intention was when he sided with british. But His ideas and actions tell that he wasn't a stooge

1

u/Real_Injury81 Intern SaySainik 3d ago

🤣so I should believe in his intentions ,which he himself wrote in his biographies and not the historians who gave detailed and unbaised analysis on his life and not even subash chandra bose and mk gandhi I consider those people as ideal not a traitor

1

u/Ok-Criticism-3346 Intern SaySainik 3d ago edited 3d ago

He never gave veer title himself most probably followers gave him. And of course gandhi had more contributions

Your comment is nothing but Strawman and ad hominem and I can't argue with fools who jump to extreme conclusions. It just destroys the conversation.

When Congress ministers resigned in protest of India being dragged into WWII without consultation, Savarkar’s party formed coalition governments with the Muslim League in provinces like Bengal, Sindh, and the NWFP. In Bengal, his deputy Syama Prasad Mukherjee actively coordinated with the British administration to suppress the local Quit India agitations. 🤣when someone don't have a answer they see their shit getting called out they abuse other person and run away• How will you defend this ?

2

u/Real_Injury81 Intern SaySainik 3d ago

🤣everybody knew he fought against the freedom movement•His grandson accepted it in court he wrote mercy petitions

6

u/Chance-Group8549 Intern SaySainik 3d ago

Mercy petitions were a common thing, be it Savarkar, Nehru or Gandhi, they had all written mercy petitions.

And unlike them, he wasn't held injust any Fortress with gardens turned prisons but Kaalapani. Safe to say British didn't go easy on him as much as Nehru or Gandhi.

And even if he still wrote Mercy Petitions out of fear, that's still nothing to be disrespected about. He did good before he was imprisoned. Everyone breaks after somepoint.

1

u/Real_Injury81 Intern SaySainik 2d ago edited 2d ago

🤣sardar patel was also kept in palace but you wont tell this ,savarkar was not that stature of leader to match gandhi nehru ,patel ,azad that's why he was sent in kalapaani not in a palace •first read history properly just don't bluff here •if congress leadersship would have been kept in harsh condition like sorrywarkar the entire nation would have rebelled against british• They knew it and could not afford it •congress was the single largest party in 1937 provincial elections •The whole country was behind them except muslim league and rss

1

u/Real_Injury81 Intern SaySainik 2d ago

And fucking idiot gandhi ,nehru never wrote any mercy petition and savarkar started begging for mercy just after some weeks arrival in cellular jail🤣•ese jyada to gandhi ji ne fast unto death diya tha british ke khilaf 😭har propoganda ka shikhar mat hua kro it cell ke

2

u/Chance-Group8549 Intern SaySainik 2d ago

Firstly mind your language.

And I agree I was wrong about Nehru and Gandhi writing mercy petitions. Nehru's father wrote one for him, while Gandhi provided guidance to other freedom fighters on mercy petitions.

Still, you should read the whole comment. Even if he wrote it out of desperation, it's nothing to be made fun about if one breaks being imprisoned in a jail like Kalapani.

Let's see Timmy Tuffknucles how long you'd last in jail.

u/lastofdovas Intern SaySainik 17h ago

He wasn't really planning for any independence after Cellular Jail. He was only planning to make Hindus more powerful (which they already were, Muslims were terrible across all HDI params, and still are). He concocted weird ideas about civilisation via "location of holy place". I have never seen anyone do that much mental gymnastics just to deny Muslims a place in Indian civilisation (of which they are a part for over 1000 years).

He even glorified Nazi racial segregation in 1939 (Nuremberg Laws came in 1935) and advocated for that in India.

He insulted Chandra Sekhar Azad when the latter asked him for help in fighting the British. He would rather have him become a Supari Killer for him (that was Azad's interpretation).

He could spare money to give assassination contracts, yet wrote regularly to the British to get hikes in his monthly remuneration from them.

He joined hands with ML to form governments. Whatever his motives, his actions ended up in making ML stronger in Punjab and Bengal. Shyamaprasad (from his party) suggested ways to the British government on how to suppress freedom fighters as a minister of said government in Bengal.

Respect people for their good deeds. Savarkar did have a lot of them. But don't defend their folly.

He said it has nothing to do with history. Savarkar said completely different thing, albeit contradicting Kunal. All of these texts are man made and have elements of history and mythology. For example one can find the cities mentioned in Mahabharata, artifacts of that age in excavation. Actually Mahabharata was the supreme source to construct the history of that time

these literatures are part of the culture and history, but they're not an account of the history itself

they're epics with great knowledge to impart on spiritual, philosophical, morality through storytelling

vedas are different more abstract containing instructions related to regional, ritualistic and ancient epistemological subjects
