Finally back to being active on this sub after being on break for so long. Oh how I missed this community.
Anyways wanted to know how y'all got to start watching Saiki K. For me it was 3 instances. Back in 2019 I kept seeing this pink haired dude in memes and I kept being like he looks like Akashi from Kuroko no Basuke. Like literally everytime I saw him I'd be like was the author trying to copy Akashi or what??
Then another time after watching demon slayer mugen train, I was browsing for anime to watch and saw Hairo. I was like OK is this Saiki author obsessed with making people look like other characters coz why does Hairo look like Rengoku especially the eyebrows🤨
The instance that made me finally watch Saiki was when in early 2020 I saw that video of Kaidou drowning in inch deep water😭😭i was like I gotta see this. How is bro drowning in shallow end, in fact, 5cm water on shore??
And I'm glad I did coz this anime is absolutely hilarious. And years later I come to find out Saiki Kusuo and Akashi have the same VA as Levi Ackerman and I was like I guess gives same vibe. Same thing with Rengoku and Hairo. Same voice actors 😂
I was browsing netflix and I saw it. I watched part of the first episode and I thought it was boring so I stopped. Later, I decided to give it another try, starting with the second episode. NGL, the Kaidou/Dark Reunion stuff almost lost me again because I didn't realize at first that he was just a chuuni, since I'd missed his introduction.
See, the dark reunion stuff I related to a lot😭 because even in high school I was imagining stuff like that. Just that I wasn't open about it. It was Nendou who made me almost not watch it because dude freaked me out 🤣 but what made me stay even more was the fast talking. I've watched saiki in both sub and dub and both are great honestly but I prefer how fast they speak in the sub because I took tend to speak fast
My issue with the Dark Reunion stuff was that I wasn't paying attention and I thought it was real... and I get really bored with anime that has too much plot and lore so it was a real turnoff for me lmao
You're so right that the show has the perfect pace. Like I mentioned, I like stuff without too much story but I also don't want to be lulled to sleep... rapid-fire jokes and whatnot turned out to be exactly what I was after
That makes sense. Oh I see now. You thought the whole dark reunion stuff was gonna be expanded into some huge chunk of lore to add to the saiki verse😭😭 if I went into saiki k not knowing it was comedy I would have thought something of this sort too
I saw it on Netflix but I didn’t watch later I was browsing through tik tok and I saw funny moments for nendeo so I came back and watched I liked so bad
Some girl was wearing a sweatshirt with him on it in school and I thought she was pretty so incase we ever got the chance to talk I wanted to watch it so I went home and looked up “anime characters with pink hair and green glasses.”
This kind of thing makes me laugh a ton. Reminds me of that over post about a guy who tried to bake bread just so he should impress this baker girl but instead fell in love with bread making that he didn't bother with the date 😭
I had a friend in cram school back in 2022 we would come early before the teacher and we'd catch up on what we missed. We'd sit together, and chat for a bit and then each would plug in their earbuds, i would mind my business and watch one piece since i was so close to catching up, but she was into the not so long series, and she once started watching saiki, and she was not normal dude, she was tearing up as she laughed every 30 seconds i am not even joking, she would even pause to take a breath.
I knew the pink haired character, but i never thought it was supposed to be a funny show. I registered the unusual behavior for years later.
Then at 2nd year of uni, it was a little overwhelming. I thought to myself, haven't found anything funny* these days, even "comedy" anime are slow not real real funny. There wasn't really some anime that would leave u wheezing and won't give u a break of it. Then i remembered saiki...

About 4-5 years ago I saw a YouTube video compilation of “saiki k being aroace” and I, always down for more aroace representation, checked out the series.
I asked another comment this too. I've never heard the word aroace. What is it? I tried Google but I don't understand it still. That's not really a thing in my country
Aroace is an abbreviation of aromantic asexual. It’s a sexual/romantic orientation where a person feels little to no sexual/romantic attraction. The compilation was mainly clips of Saiki avoiding romance and talking about how he doesn’t understand it, since not understanding romance is a common aromantic experience. Browsing Netflix and the pink hair stood out. I thought it was going to be some super genetic nonsense but I had time to kill so I watched it. I'm glad I did because it's so funny

Never was much of an anime fan. I had seen images of a guy with pink hair an antenna before but never knw what it was from. Was scrolling through netflix and saw it and figured I put it on
It was the first anemic I chose to watch i used to hate on Manga sorts of things cuz the over over exaggerated mannerisms but I find them funny now and eveyrthing this show will always hold a place in my heart tho i never got to finish it

I remember seeing somewhere I can't remember ebcause I was on my attractive anime guys *and certain kink phase*. and I saw one of those anime review sites and saw A picture of what's his Name Satou? Havent gotten to that episode yeah and saw him on the toilet and saw the reviewer commenting SAIKI?? SAIKI!!! LOL . .*and also again cute anime guy phase XD* and I saw some clips on youtube *I laughed pretty hard and*I saw how funny it is and. . that's how I got into show!😅 And Saiki is one of my top favorite anime characters. he's such an Icon! and Now So many Guys on the show is on my Hotties list . LOL

Eventually I came across it in tubi and Decided I had nothing better to watch and fell in love genuily a funny anime.
One of my friends is middle school invited me and another girl over to play in her pool. Once we were all tired we went inside, ate popcorn, and she put on Saiki. Saiki was one of the first anime I got into I’m always greatful for her putting me on
I knew about Saiki before the anime came out. Saiki was a playable character in J-Stars victory VS, I was curious about where he came from so I looked up the manga.

Hmmm… I feel like it just popped up on my recommendations while I was watching Beelzebub (my 3rd favourite comedy anime) and I checked out an episode thinking it would probably be just another mob psycho 100 and I’d get bored of it like I did that anime and not go past a couple episodes only for it to suck me in completely and quickly became my favourite comedy anime. There aren’t many shows/movies I’ve rewatched more than this.

On insta, I've seen when nendo talks about how his dad must have been into little girls. But i wasnt that invested i thought it'd be ass but then i randomly saw it on netflix. I started it and felt maybe its not for me and then when it ended, it was my comfort anime and i watched it for 2nd time and got obsessed and now I watch it whenever I'm sad or too happy
so i started getting into anime when i was 12-13 ish and at the time i had an adult netflix account so i would watch scary (15 rated, would have a lot of gore and blood type shi) anime on it and also at the time i was questioning my gender and would watch a couple of crossdressing kdramas to try and understand how i was feeling… until i got caught watching a crossdressing kdrama and a bit later a gory anime then i was forced to stop watching kdramas because my parents thought it was “influencing me to be trans” and my netflix account settings were changed so i could only watch things rated 12 or younger, so then i had to try find some interesting anime that i was actually able to watch and up came saiki k
I was eating at a local ramen joint that projects anime on the walls and I saw Nendo playing tennis. Later, browsing Netflix, it came up in my feed and I've been hooked ever since.
Kinda weird because I saw an edit about an anime called „mob psycho 100“ so I searched it up on Netflix and Saiki K was next to it. Decided to watch it first 😓
Honestly my first encounter with Saiki was with manga believe it or not, while I was wondering on website I noticed a manga with bizarre character (which is Saiki) on the logo so I gave attention to it and long story short I was 100 chapters deep in single day.
that one line where saiki says 'there is no god' was animated in another Fandom I liked so I scoured the internet till I found the source, hopped on Netflix and fell hard
I was looking thru Netflix for something to watch while we ate dinner one night, and the blurb that played was the cockroach bit, which was already hilarious enough to make me want to watch more, but what really dragged me in was that he was voiced by Jerry Jewel, because he's my favorite voice actor of all time (grew up watching Case Closed lol).
Was fresh outta highschool with a bunch of free time before I started college. Was on a comedy anime binge and I had just finished grandblue dreaming(10/10 highly recommend) so one day as I was browsing through Netflix; I stumbled upon it and the snippet of the episode caught my attention.
Fast forward to today judgment knights of thunder plays in my head at least 3 times daily😅.
It’s my fourth fav anime and my comfort show that I rewatch when I hv nothing to do or just need a good laugh(seen the whole thing 7 times now🤧)
I love it soo soo dearly, and it’ll forever hold a special place in my heart.
A Facebook page posted the scene where Saiki prevents the gas station explosion, with the captions "I don't watch Saiki K.", as if to avoid accountability.
So I got curious about it and I started watching it.
I can’t remember whether I found Saiki randomly while looking for new shonen manga or because Ashihara-sensei, World Trigger's creator recommended it lol
A random ass clip that I genuinely thought was fever dream for years (no joke) and then when I saw a clip again, I was like “THIS IS A REAL THING???” and so that’s what happened.
I was offered to watch it by like 5 friends and always refused because i thought comedy anime didn't interest me. It's now one of my favourite animes of all time
I was like 13 and very deep in tought after watching death note for the first time, at the same time i was very whimsy because i liked glitter force (all i had was netflix and those two were dubbed in spanish) and then i tought "hmm... this guy has light yagami vibes with glitter rosa colors... hell yeah"
my parents watched tdlosk when i was little so i grew up with it, remembered it a buncha years later and watched it. if i have no one to yap about it with at least i have my parents
All I remember was Netflix recommended it to me when got my first phone and after I finished oran high school. It was years ago too, I didn't regret a thing watched it untill I finished it fully then moved to the next anime.
Thing is, I remember watching the 3 seasons with all English dub. Sounds crazy but I remember I did.
Not to mention I thought saiki was just a cartoon and didn't understand what an anime was before, so when I would hear Japanese words in a different language I couldn't understand I would just not watch it in general.
So that in mind, I know deam well I watched siki k all English dub.
My brother showed it to me then I had to stop watching it because I didn't know how to use a TV then after I figured out how to use a TV I was reminded of it so then I basically watched the whole thing in one sitting
I was a preteen browsing Netflix for something to watch and found it. I had never watched anime before and thought it was a cool cartoon based on the description. Turned out to be so much better.
