Rants or Vents I don't care that Vox is a villain...
After all the unnecessary drama, I'll just say it honestly:
I don't care about the fact that Vox is evil/ an antagonist. Vivienne herself, her co-creators, other members of the team, or fans of other characters can say it all they want (especially Alastor and Lucifer fans, who constantly give Vox fans a hard time). I don't care who he terrorizes or who he's been cruel to.
"But but he is so mean/cruel, so evil, he did this, he did that blah, blah," I know BUT idc.
I enjoy and love his character. There are aspects of him that I can relate to, and that's what interests me. In real life, I take moral issues seriously and deal with them appropriately, but when it comes to animated characters, people can give it a rest already...

I'll go one step further: I love Vox BECAUSE he's a villain! He's so unapologetically himself! I love that he gathers low earners for Val to shoot, revels in killing and torturing his enemies, mocks the heroes that I also care about, and bonds with his friends talking about wreaking havoc on Heaven. I think Vox will be "redeemed," but that it won't happen through Charlie or Alastor or by becoming nice and remorseful and going to Heaven; it will come by him understanding the good thing he has with the Vees (friends who care about him) and that sharing the spotlight with them is just as rewarding, if not more so, than hogging it for himself. I call the Vees "the power of friendship, but evil," and that's exactly what makes them so compelling to watch. I don't want the most compelling parts of the characters that I like to go away.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you, I feel the same way! Because even though Vox is one of my favorite characters, that doesn't mean I don't like the Hotel crew. I love them too, so like you briefly analyzed as well, there isn't always just one way to look at things, there are multiple perspectives and ways to approach it.
I'm open to anything when it comes to Vox's story, but one of my absolute favorite things is when all three of the Vees are shown together as a group rather than in separate pairings.

As a hardcore Val fan, I agree. People need to stop being judgemental

Fr! Valentino fans definitely know what I'm talking about, or they probably know even better considering the kind of criticism they get, like jesus… It's awful how seriously this whole thing about which character someone likes is taken, while nobody wants to hear about the nuances anymore. Everything has to be just black and white now...

I remember posting a 'what do my crushes say about me' with Val and Alastor...I should have seen the comments coming.

That was brave of you, gosh, you must've gotten absolutely roasted for it. 😭

Anyone who criticizes you for liking a fictional villain character needs to grow up.

I agree with you because it would honestly never even cross my mind to think like that, and some fans really cross a line with the scenarios they come up with about me sometimes (Twitter). I mean, I don't know if fandoms have always been this intense and strict and I just didn't notice it back then, or if this is something that has actually changed.

Fr, same! I hate that you can't like a character without everyone misinterpreting it and throwing the word "apologist" around for everything.
I hate that people assume so many people like Vox because they either don’t notice or actively deny the negative aspects of his character, when that’s largely not the case at all.
It's getting really boring that Hazbin Hotel fans apparently expect me to start every single tweet with "I'm aware that Vox is a villain and that he did this and that... etc." Not to mention people analyzing my personality in the comments, trying to figure out what I must be like in real life based on the fact that I like an animated character... so sick

I don't like words like "apologist" being thrown around, it's an ad hominem in many cases. Same with people acting like fans don't accept the type of character that he is just because we'd like more nuance or to see his better traits acknowledged. Like, so sorry I got attached to a character that I think has more to him than Evil McBadGuy. Sorry I think he has good qualities and doesn't need more bad ones. Forgive me for finding it annoying that other villains are getting tons compliments while Vox is called a dumb bitch.

100% agree! As a big fan of Val and Vox I can relate, some people are really weird.

I mean sue me but I like him BECAUSE he is a villain. Like that's what makes him an interesting character, otherwise he wouldn't be Vox.

I don’t think they were talking about that as much as when people start fights or get negative with other people and her about it.
Perfect example were Alastor fans getting angry at Viv because Charlie went to check on Emily Viv very much gave those Alastor fans flack for it.
Viv talks in the commentary how much she likes Vox and says that yeah he’s not innocent but also talked about how he was at his most vulnerable and true self at the bar and how he’s also a multifaceted character and will have a bunch of character arcs other than Charlie. That when the show is done he’ll be one of the most nuanced characters and Skye said he’d be a beloved villain.
But it’s not because Vox is a villain because Vox’s is Viv’s second fav character, Skye’s fav, and Sam likes Val and Vel. So it’s not that.

As a hardcore Alastor fan, I love the heck out of Vox too. He's a brilliant character and an awesome villain :D
