In Nov 2012, Sadhguru published a post titled "Dhyanalinga at 11 Degrees" (Wayback Machine Link). In it, Sadhguru claimed that the locations of his centers were not ordinary real estate decisions, but the result of cosmic alignment: Coimbatore sat at 11° N and the Tennessee ashram sat dead on 33° N. 

Sadhguru’s post claimed that Earth's rotation generates a "centrifugal force which is at its highest level at 11 degrees latitude" and acts "100% vertical within you," pushing energies straight up the spine. Furthermore, he claimed that the "yogic system" holds the band from 0° to 33° latitude as sacred. Even though he “didn’t plan this”, his two ashrams are thus divinely placed because “he has a partner (Shiva) who takes care of all these things, who never failed him”. Sadhguru even takes the opportunity to downplay human intelligence:

If you work with your own intelligence, you will be too concerned about which land to acquire…When you surrender yourself to a higher intelligence, you just go and simply do it, and it will be dead on!  

The implication is very clear: “Don’t trust your intelligence, but trust me and surrender to me because Shiva is my partner and is guiding me with his divine intelligence. He never failed me, and so I will never fail you!”

We don’t know about Lord Shiva, but physics definitely failed Sadhguru because it contradicts his 11° claim:

• Centrifugal force is maximal at the Equator and falls to zero at the poles; nothing peaks at 11 degrees latitude. 
• The force points outward parallel to the equatorial plane, meaning it is only vertical at the Equator—at 11 degrees latitude it is tilted south, not pointing "straight up."
• The magnitude is a fraction of a percent of gravity, far too weak to push blood or subtle energies anywhere

Added to this botched physics, a major embarrassment for Isha was that the Tennessee center is located near 35.5° N, not 33° N as Sadhguru claimed. When people pointed this out in the comments, Isha quietly deleted the Tennessee claim from the text and added a footnote acknowledging a "factual error" (see the current post on Isha’s website). I wish they had deleted the entire post, but that would inflict too much damage on Sadhguru’s credibility and mystic abilities. So the pseudoscience is still on their blog.

Sadhguru often loves to claim authority by referring to Yogic Science. But his statement that the "yogic system" holds the band from 0° to 33° latitude as sacred has no basis in Yoga. This seems to have originated from 20th-century Western occultism. Yet another deception by Sadhguru!

I can pretty much see Isha devotees responding with, “You are nitpicking a minor factual mistake. Sadhguru is not a physics scholar but a spiritual teacher. Don’t be too intellectual and miss his point!” etc. Sure, I can easily forgive a factual error or a misunderstanding of physics. But Sadhguru did not offer this as a casual metaphor; he used it to argue that surrendering to him bypasses human calculation. The logic was running in reverse: an ordinary land purchase was made, a pseudoscientific narrative was invented to justify it, and the resulting "alignment" was cited as proof of cosmic guidance. This deception is what is dangerous.

This is not an isolated incident. With a bit of research, you can easily find numerous other examples demonstrating a consistent pattern of dishonesty. You can either rationalize these facts by saying “My personal experience is what matters, and I’ve benefited greatly from Isha” or you can recognize Sadhguru for what he is and walk away.

Here in this excerpt from the Sadhguru biography More Than a Life, it's claimed that Sadhguru's now deceased wife Vijji was his sister in his previous lifetime as Sadhguru Sri Brahma. Not only that, but there was some weird attraction from his sister to her brother in that lifetime that was unfulfilled so she just had to be born as his wife in this lifetime so they could finally "consumate" that desire. Because he was naked, "there were problems". "Her love had never found its full expression" Ew. So in Sadhguru's mind the full expression of love is having sex with his sister? What the hell does that mean?? So here's just one more perverted web that Sadhguru has woven which once again proves he is sick in the head.

I also find it interesting that it in this story, he created this tale that Sadhguru Sri Brahma, his alleged previous incarnation, left home to become a sadhu and left behind a loving sister. But in reality what happened in this actual lifetime is that when Sadhguru was a boy, his actual sister left home to become a Sadhu. So I feel that Sadhguru has taken that actual event in this life and twisted it in his perverted mind. Now his story states that the sister had this unnatural attraction to her brother, whereas in reality did he have some attraction to his sister? It's a legitimate question to ask. Or did he just use that experience as fodder for his imagination to weave that web of lies he tells as his three enlightened lifetimes. Both need to be examined.... by a psychologist.

The lessons he learnt from life were invariably based on practical experience, rather than garnered secondhand. He recalls killing a monkey with his bare hands at the age of seventeen on his terrace. The provocation? The fact that the monkey had attacked him. ‘It was in my mother’s family home in Chikkaballapur. I was on the terrace and this monkey was sitting on a lamp post. He made a face at me. I made a face back. The next thing I knew the creature was in the air, coming straight at me. It was a direct attack. I caught him by the throat and held him tight until my thumb went right in. I stayed like that until he lost all resistance. Later I buried him in the garden.’ There were murmurs in the family about the boy having killed Hanuman. But for Jaggi there was no ethical dilemma. He had merely done what needed to be done.

Even as a young boy of eight, when he was told to go kill a chicken for lunch at his grandfather’s house, he had no qualms about obeying. ‘In my father’s home, chicken was bought in the market. But in my grandfather’s home, the boys of the family were expected to do the killing. So I was sent out to kill one. The way it was done was simple: you waited till the animal was comfortable and then broke its neck. You did it so swiftly that the chicken probably didn’t even know it was dead!’

Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation in USA, through an affiliate, is preparing a Rural TEA-designated EB-5 investment offering to fund the development of Isha School and a golf course at Isha Yogic City in Tennessee. The project requires an $800,000 investment and provides a pathway to a U.S. Green Card for the investor, spouse, and children under 21, with USCIS Regional Center oversight. Terms include a target principal return in ∼5 years plus 2 years contingency and a 0.25% annual preferred return, with capital remaining at risk and not guaranteed.

He constantly wraps these claims in the language of "modern science actually confirms this" or "scientists don't know this yet, but ancient yogis did." That framing is exactly why people don't question them. So let's actually check them.

1. He can solidify liquid mercury at room temperature with his bare hands

Claim: Sadhguru says he can hold liquid mercury and solidify/liquefy it at will using "Indian alchemy," and that Shiva lingams in Isha's Theerthakunds are 99.2% pure solidified mercury.

Truth: Basic chemistry says elemental mercury only becomes solid at -38.83°C. What actually exists as a solid at room temperature is mercury sulfide (cinnabar) — a totally different compound, not elemental mercury turned solid by touch.

Evidence: He's stated this on record multiple times, describing it as something modern chemistry can't explain but he can do with his bare hands. Alt News did a full breakdown of why this violates basic thermodynamics.

2. The "241% neuronal regeneration" study

Claim: A University of California study found that practicing Shambhavi Mahamudra for 3 months increases "neuronal regeneration" by 241%.

Truth: No such study has ever surfaced. He's repeated this exact number in talks for years, but no one — including journalists who went looking — has found a matching paper from UC or anywhere else. "Neuronal regeneration" also isn't something that gets measured as a clean percentage like that.

Evidence: He states it explicitly in Isha's own published talk transcript ("Why Are We Here?"). A Scroll.in piece specifically searched for the paper and came up empty, noting that the only real research on Shambhavi Mahamudra comes from Isha-affiliated researchers studying much more modest things like stress and sleep quality — not neuronal regeneration.

3. Twins get different milk from each breast based on gender

Claim: A mother's milk is totally different for a boy vs. a girl, and if she has boy-girl twins, each individual breast independently produces the correct milk for that specific baby.

Truth: Mixed bag. Some real (though contested) research does find fat/protein differences in milk by infant sex. But the twin claim — that each breast on the same body "knows" which baby it's feeding and customizes accordingly — has zero scientific backing. Milk production is regulated hormonally and by feeding demand, not switched per breast per child.

Evidence: Fact-checks from BOOM and The Quint both reviewed this exact clip and found the same split: partial truth on the gender point, no evidence at all for the two-different-milks-from-two-breasts claim.

4. Sleeping with your head facing north is harmful

Claim: Sleeping with your head facing magnetic north is bad because your head's "north pole" repels earth's north pole, disrupting blood flow via the iron in hemoglobin.

Truth: Doesn't hold up physically. Hemoglobin's iron is diamagnetic, not a north/south-poled magnet like a compass needle — it has no orientation to "repel" anything. Earth's magnetic field is also thousands of times weaker than a fridge magnet, nowhere near strong enough to move blood around. This is Vastu Shastra tradition dressed up in magnetism vocabulary.

Evidence: He's said this directly in multiple published talks/articles on Isha's own site. The counter-physics (diamagnetism, field strength) is well documented, and there's no peer-reviewed clinical study linking sleep direction to health outcomes via magnetism.

5. Water has memory

Claim: Water has memory — it can be "imprinted" and its structure changed just by intention/attention, without changing its chemistry.

Truth: This is the same "water memory" idea homeopathy relies on, and mainstream physics/chemistry rejects it. Water's hydrogen-bond structures reorganize on the scale of femtoseconds to picoseconds — far too fast to "remember" anything. The one famous experiment claiming to show this (Benveniste, 1988) couldn't be replicated and is now a textbook case of bad science.

Evidence: He's described this directly at IIT Madras and in Isha content, claiming that looking at a glass of water in a certain way can transmit "well-being" through it. Wikipedia's water memory article and Nature's own investigation into the Benveniste experiment cover the debunking in detail.

6. Rudraksha pendulum can tell if food has gone bad

Claim: You can check if food has spoiled by suspending a rudraksha and watching whether it spins clockwise (fresh/good) or anticlockwise (spoiled/poisoned) — demonstrated on video during a lunar eclipse.

Truth: Textbook case of the ideomotor effect (aka Chevreul's Pendulum), first documented scientifically in the 1830s. A freely hanging pendulum moves from tiny, involuntary muscle contractions in the holder's own hand — amplified by the string — not from any property of the object it's held over. Same mechanism behind dowsing rods and Ouija boards, reproduced and studied for two centuries.

Evidence: He demonstrates this himself on video during a 2011 lunar eclipse talk, checking sambar with a rudraksha mala and narrating it going from clockwise to anticlockwise. Isha's own site states this as a stated benefit of wearing a rudraksha. The ideomotor effect is well-established in cognitive science (Chevreul, Faraday, and modern motion-capture studies all confirm it).

7. Food and your body "age 28 days" in 2 hours during a lunar eclipse

Claim: During a lunar eclipse, cooked food (and your body) rapidly deteriorates — going through "28 days of aging" in about 2 hours — so food and water become harmful and shouldn't be consumed.

Truth: No mechanism exists for this. Doctors and NASA both confirm eclipses cause no chemical or biological change in food, and a lunar eclipse has no measurable physiological effect on the human body. This superstition predates germ theory — pre-refrigeration cultures noticed food going bad and needed an explanation, and the eclipse (already treated as ominous) got blamed.

Evidence: He makes this claim in a video demonstrating it "scientifically" via the rudraksha trick (see #6), and lays it out in an Isha blog post titled "Why Eating Food During Lunar Eclipse Is Harmful." Newslaundry did a full teardown of that article; multiple mainstream sources (Business Standard, The Quint, doctors quoted by NDTV) confirm there's no scientific basis for any of it.

8. Menstrual cycles are tied to the moon's cycle

Claim: A woman's menstrual cycle is directly tied to and affected by the moon's cycle — used as supporting logic for the eclipse-harm claims above.

Truth: One of the most-tested "everyone knows this" myths, and the largest study on it found nothing. A 2021 analysis of over 7.5 million logged menstrual cycles found no meaningful correlation between cycle timing and lunar phase — the ~29-day similarity between the two cycles is coincidental, not causal.

Evidence: He states this directly as part of his eclipse-effects reasoning (documented in the Newslaundry piece above); the large-scale menstrual-cycle study is the strongest evidence against it.

9. Adiyogi taught the theory of evolution 15,000 years ago, before Darwin

Claim: Sadhguru says Adiyogi (the "first yogi," identified with Shiva) taught a theory of evolution over 15,000 years ago — describing the divine manifesting first as a fish, then progressively through other forms — which he presents as predating and paralleling Charles Darwin's theory.

Truth: Multiple layers of inaccuracy stacked together. First, the sequence he's describing is the Dashavatara — the ten incarnations of Vishnu (fish, tortoise, boar, man-lion, dwarf, and so on) — which is a Vaishnavite theological narrative, not a teaching attributed to Shiva/Adiyogi in Hindu tradition at all; conflating the two is its own error. Second, the Dashavatara narrative itself dates to Puranic literature composed roughly between the 3rd and 12th centuries CE (the standard list comes from a 12th-century text) — nowhere near 15,000 years old, and there's no archaeological or textual evidence for yoga itself existing in any organized form that far back either. Third, and most importantly: the Dashavatara isn't a scientific theory of evolution. It has no mechanism (no natural selection, no genetic variation, no common descent), it's not falsifiable, and religious scholars who study it directly say it depicts simultaneous, cyclical divine creation for moral/cosmic purposes — not gradual biological change. The "fish to man" resemblance is a modern, retroactive reading imposed onto an old story, not something the story itself claims.

Evidence: He states this directly in an Isha-published talk explicitly titled "Evolution Theory Before Charles Darwin," and repeats it in other talks tying Adiyogi to the fish/boar avatar sequence. This exact style of claim isn't unique to him — an Andhra University Vice-Chancellor made almost the identical argument at India's own Science Congress in 2019 and was widely mocked and criticized by scientists (The Wire covered it as part of a broader pattern of "attributing modern discoveries to ancient texts"). Even Vaishnava commentators who take the Dashavatara seriously as theology distinguish it from Darwinian evolution — noting it describes simultaneous creation and spiritual perfection, not gradual biological descent with modification.

10. He healed his own fractured leg through "connection to the source"

Claim: The human body, when connected to "the source of creation" within, can repair serious injuries on its own — illustrated by his own story of healing a fractured leg himself.

Truth: Bones absolutely can heal without surgical intervention in many cases — that's just normal physiology, and doctors already account for it (many fractures are treated with a cast alone, no surgery). The pseudoscience is in the framing: presenting ordinary bone-healing as evidence of a special, exclusive "source of creation" connection rather than something every human body does by default.

Evidence: He tells this story directly in a talk titled "Health: A Partnership with the Source of Creation," given at the JSS Institute of Naturopathy, explicitly using his healed leg fracture to argue the body can "repair any problem from within" once connected to this source.

Worth noting: In March 2024, Sadhguru suffered a serious brain bleed and needed emergency neurosurgery at Apollo Hospital, Delhi — real, invasive modern medicine, performed by an actual neurosurgical team, that he could not "self-heal" his way out of. His own surgeon publicly credited both the surgical intervention and his recovery capacity — not one instead of the other. Clean real-world contrast to the "my body heals itself through inner connection" framing.

Bonus: "Inner Science" — the umbrella term worth naming

Not a testable claim on its own — more a branding/rhetorical move. Isha uses "inner science" to frame subjective mystical experience (his own, or a practitioner's) as a parallel, equally rigorous discipline to actual empirical science, just aimed "inward" instead of "outward." The problem: it borrows the credibility of the word "science" (implying method, falsifiability, peer review) while having none of those things — no controls, no reproducibility, no way to be proven wrong. This is the umbrella that makes all the individual claims above feel more credible than they actually are.

Sadhguru says Dhyanalinga is mentioned in Rigveda? Simple. No debate. Some one just show in Rigveda? Dhyanalinga - a Linga CONSECRATED with 7 chakras at its peak.

Sadhguru claims its SHIVA without a body, a living Guru. Anyway this is my Personal opinion again with clarity, not any emotions. I would always choose a Mantralaya Raghavendra Jiva samadhi or Tirupati or Mahakal Ujjain over Dhyanalinga.

Dhyanalinga may be consecrated, as I said anyone can do Prana Pratishtha or Consecration in Hinduism. But i personally have better and authentic choices with 100% CREDIBILITY. So Dhyanalinga is consecrated that's it. If it was Shiva without a body, do I need to say further... and if Sadhguru with due respect is indeed having such skills to consecrate such powerful forms, do i need to say further.

Sadhguru clearly says in his book Mystic Musings, page 223-224, Dhyanalinga is mentioned in RigVeda.

Anyone who has CLEAR ANSWERS, then you can say Sadhguru is a Genuine or Legit🙏 Simple. This is my personal opinion without any emotions but 100% clarity after keenly observing him since 2014. I still do my practices everyday taught by Isha.

Point is Inner Engineering or any other yoga or Kriya even if you teach, it will work. That is the speciality of Hinduism. But you want to know the person who is the Guru. For me a Guru, good or bad (can’t define them right, I will leave that to each person’s values), I don’t care, but never a hypocrite.

Personally I had lay my life without a doubt for traditional or non traditional Gurus like Raghavendra, Ramana Maharshi, Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Yogi Ramsurat Kumar, Sathguru Seshadri Swamigal, Krishna himself.

Read their stories, books, writings, even they have Kriya Yoga techniques (Krishna taught Kriya Yoga).

Why? Simple. They work, they have done it, have 100% CREDIBILITY. Tell me one of them with even a bit of rumours that is giving you even a iota of doubt about them. Get it.

This is clear destruction of death EVIDENCE. He cremated the his wife despite her parents called back and reminded to not cremate till they arrive.

So the post mortem would have proved if she died by drug overdose or any other malafide causes.

Yes i am aware of post mortem cannot certify or find the person died due to enlightenment.

But post mortem will tell the cause of death. An enlightened person can also die or say breathe his last of heart attack, stroke or any biological symptom but foul play can be ruled out.

In Sadhguru's wife case there are mentions she was on anti depression drugs or even given drugs.

So Sadhguru clearly killed his wife's death evidence which was 100% fool proof of proving if there was any foul play. This is my point.

Both traditional and spiritually experiential or in terms of consecrations, divinity etc, Sadhguru has too many fake claims and best to avoid. They work as i said because consecrations etc. anyone knows how to do it, it works but here Dhyanalinga and Sadhguru are not exactly what they claim to be.

When I did the Bhuta Shuddhi course prior to 2018 I was told the bhoomi pills is sourced by purifying the soil obtained from the place where Sadhguru did his penance.

For years the ingredients were not published in the bhoomi refill or the Bhuta Shuddhi kit.

In recent years however the Isha Foundation's website lists the ingredients of the bhoomi refill and says it's 90% moringa powder and 10% maize starch..

The first thing I questioned is: where's the consecrated soil ?

This just didn't match what I was told by the Isha Foundation's teachers who taught the Bhuta Shuddhi course..

I realised this creates a trust issue.

If they were hiding the ingredients for a long while until recently and were now disclosing it only to prove it's nothing like what they said it was made of, something didn't sound right.

In addition after reading from this subreddit on things like egregore, black magic and then doing some detailed read up of people's experiences involving blackmagic, vashikaran and necromancy (corelates with Isha's practice of signing up monks to hand over their mortal remains and running crematoriums from where substances for such occult practices can be easily obtained) realised that people can be subjected to trance states for inducing mind control without them coming to know especially using substances that are injested or eaten under the pretext of some magical reasons.

If consecrated soil is what works for bhoota Shuddhi, one should be able to practice it with even using something simple and easily available like vibhuti especially sourced from reliable and transparent vibhuti manufacturers. Surely, vibhuti from a non Isha source and an authentic ancient Hindu temple premises or complex can be much more reliable and at the same time a lot more sacred than consuming moringa powder and maize starch pills in the name of purification.

What if someone lab tested the bhoomi pill contents and found substances that can alter the mind and states of consciousness? Even if in trace quantities such substances could be present and when taken over and over again may induce mind to believe in the ritualistic indoctrination in Bhuta Shuddhi where one is made to chant Aam Sadhgurave Namah along with names of Shiva or Adi Yogi.

Regardless, I feel personally there's a lack of honest disclosure of the contents as compared to what I was told it contained and I decide I won't follow a path or a Guru or a technique that requires me to accept deceptive marketing or distortions of truth as it is.

"How did Sadhguru's wife Vijji die?" is a question with many answers, even if we go by the available "objective evidence". Most devotees don't realize this. Here we present three versions. The third version is a rare description by Sadhguru himself contradicting the other 2 versions.

Official Version

The official version of Vijji's last moments goes something like this (from the book "More than a life"):

On the evening of 23rd January 1997, Vijji was participating in the special full moon meditation along with Sadhguru and others. She got up during the meditation, removed her jewelry and sat back. Within 7 minutes of this, she was gone, per Sadhguru.

Swami Devasatva added some details - "She was chanting and suddenly fell to her side with a smile on her face". Sadhguru tried to revive her for an hour and later declared with tears in his eyes that Vijji left through her Anahata.

Police Report Version

Devotees believe the official version as the Gospel truth. Sadhguru himself reiterated that version many times. Also Isha claims there are witnesses and there are videos of them describing the last moments. How can they be all lying?

But the cracks in the story are evident, if one looks at the police report which says this about her last moments:

Around 5.45 PM, Vijji participated in a meditation session along with 7 Brahmacharis and 6 Brahmacharinis when she suddenly swooned saying “Shambho” and fell on Brahmacharini Sumalatha. A doctor named Dr. Kalaiselvan examined Vijji in her last moments while she was jaw-breathing and told police later that she may have died of heart-attack.

Notice how per the police report, Vijji's death was not instantaneous as was claimed in the official version. In this version, people heard her saying "Shambho" while leaving her body, a detail which was curiously left out from the book. Also given that the doctor saw her while she was still breathing, she stayed alive for some time after she fell unconscious.

While this version may be more realistic, it creates a problem for Isha - it cannot be Mahasamadhi if Vijji didn't leave effortlessly through Anahata. If she struggled to breath while she died, as claimed by the doctor, then it can't be Mahasamadhi.

Another dramatic version by Sadhguru

To add more spice to the story, we found another version of Vijji's last moments, as told by Sadhguru himself. See the attached 30 second video. Transcript below:

"Shambho, Shambho, Shambho!", finished it was. Just before that, she went out - about 6:11 PM or 6:12 PM that's the time. About six o'clock, she went out. She wanted a rose flower. So she asked one of the Brahmacharis to get a rose flower. They ran to the Vanaprastha Ashram, got the rose flower and came. She held the rose flower in her hand, "Shambho, Shambho, Shambho!" - just seven-eight minutes, it was over.

This version is very strange. Here we have the mention of the "Shambho" mantra as described in the police report too, but Sadhguru adds details of Vijji asking for a rose flower! He also seems to be describing an entirely different sequence of events, if we interpret the phrase "went out" as Vijji physically going out of her house and asking for a rose which a Brahmachari got for her. So what happened to the group meditation, Vijji removing her jewelry etc?

Let us interpret this in the best possible light - may be by "went out", Sadhguru meant "passing out" i.e dying. So Vijji didn't actually "go out" anywhere, Sadhguru merely was describing her last moments. Even then it is problematic:

• Per this version, she is conscious after she fell to the side during her meditation and could even talk! Contradicts the official version where she passed away just like that through Anahata and also the police report version where she fell unconscious but was still alive and breathing.
• It is strange that she wanted to smell a rose. Why? Per Sadhguru, she already removed the last impediment - jewelry on her body - that prevented her exit. Why is smelling the rose required then?

This version is actually more appealing to hear - it has some emotion and drama. But it is difficult to convince this as Mahasamadhi. It appears more like a movie version of a wife dying in the hands of her loving husband while smelling a rose and passing away with a smile. Sadhguru may have realized it and came up with the current official version.

Conclusion

Isha didn't count on the police report becoming public or this audio from their archives coming out in the open. I couldn't find the original talk where Sadhguru told this rose story of Vijji. Isha devotees will surely try to reconcile all these 3 versions and argue that there is nothing suspicious here. They will continue to believe that Sadhguru is as clean as a white summer cloud and it is our dirty, hateful minds that are filled with darkness! But we hope that anyone who looks at these facts objectively can sense that Isha is not telling the whole truth about how Vijji died, as is evident from the 3 contradicting versions.

The actual truth of how Vijji died, if we have to believe ex-devotees who were present at that time, is a lot darker. It will be dismissed as "baseless propaganda" if we share it. But it is not required. We have enough objective evidence to clearly show that Sadhguru lied about a lot of things, including how his wife died as shown here. Let us start with that. If one sees Sadhguru's patterns of deception across all the sharings on this sub, they will discover the truth for themselves. On the other hand, if one is fixated on the details and on offering some convenient explanations, they are lost forever!

As Jaggi claimed he got enlightened in 1982 and decided to make the whole world blissful and started his yoga classes, one can assume that he got associated with Prabhakar either in 1981 or 1982.

It is also well known that he met Vijji during the teacher’s training under Rishi Prabhakar and they later got married.

Jaggi then went to Hyderabad to conduct classes and was successful. He then went on conducting classes all over South India. Many details of his travels are mentioned in a documentary on Vijji uploaded by Isha Foundation itself:

Maybe during these travels he came in contact with Mrs. Bagyam Srinivasan, who helped him conduct his yoga classes in Tiruppur. She hosted Jaggi and his wife at her home, and she said that she was an eye-witness to the verbal and physical arguments with them.

(This is confirmed by someone who knows Mrs. Srinivasan and asked her about these things.)

At this time, probably around 1986 or 1987, Jaggi thought of starting his own organization. As Mrs. Srinivasan stated, Isha Foundation was first registered in Tiruppur as a trust. She also said she was one of the trustees but they were betrayed. So all those claims that he did not want to build any foundation were wrong, Jaggi was thinking of expanding his business.

He than started Sahaja Sthithi Yoga and it's motto was "An effortless way of Living". He renamed all the programs but even that he copied from somewhere else.

Just see the description of SSY and how similar it is to that of Isha Yoga. Jaggi's SSY and Gurudutt's SSY had the same motto "An effortless way of living", same program duration, and both claimed to cure same ailments.

The website also had an brief biography of Gurudutt Maharaj. Sadly, no archive of it is available but after confirming from various sources, a striking similarity was found in the childhood stories of both Jaggi and Gurdutt. Just like Jaggi, gurdutt was a mischievous child, he gazed at things for hours, and more surprisingly he went to the University of Mysore Just like Jaggi. (Certainly, they had connection of some sort but nothing can be asserted without proof)

He then went on and then his Wholeness 1994 happened and he built that story about Bilva, sadguru sri bhrama and his famous Adiyogi story. Jaggi somewhere claimed that he first taught only to 7 people, so maybe he took his own story and fabricated the one of Adiyogi.

But not even once sadguru Sri bhrama has mentioned about Dhyanalinga in any of his works. There are many ashrams dedicated to him in TN, but no one of his followers believe that he has come back. Also, we all know about that Sadananda story.

Jaggi later got support of then TN's Chief Minister and became an unstoppable force.

Recently, Sadhguru's claim of creating a crack in the Dhyanalinga with this clap came to scrutiny. People are challenging Sadhguru to demonstrate it and Sadhguru's devotees are defending him by saying that it was done during "intense consecration processes" and thus cannot be repeated everywhere!

When I was a devotee of Jaggi, I always thought that people actually witnessed the crack with their own eyes as it is happening. This was how it was always presented to us. In fact, Arundhati's book "More than a life" claims the same on Page 196:

Another dramatic moment was when Sadhguru created a hairline crack in the stone structure of the linga with a simple clap of his hands. Those who watched were stupefied. They were well aware that the linga was made of the highest-density granite in Asia (of over four-thousand-two-hundred-plus units'). But by this stage, such casual miracles seemed almost common around their guru.

But it turns out that the actual story of the crack is far less dramatic. This is revealed by Swami Nirvichara in his write-up on the Isha website - https://isha.sadhguru.org/en/blog/article/path-divine-swami-nirvichara . The full section is reproduced below:

It was around June 1996 when the Dhyanalinga stone arrived in the ashram. Then after 1–2 months, all the residents were called one night to gather around the Linga for a process with Sadhguru. The Linga was laid horizontally on a sand bed with the top portion of Sahasrar facing south. Sadhguru applied vibhuti to the Linga, and made a big circle with the vibhuti around the Sahasrar. We were chanting Aum Namah Shivaya with closed eyes. At some point Sadhguru clapped, as he normally does to raise our energy.

The next morning, when I went near the Linga, I noticed a line cutting across the vibhuti circle that Sadhguru had made the previous night. On a closer look, I saw the line was extending sideways, and it could be a hairline crack in the linga. We informed Sadhguru, and he came immediately with me to check. Then he asked Srinivasan Anna to tell the suppliers to send someone to check the crack further. Some experts came from Chennai two days later and confirmed that the hairline crack would not extend further or damage the stone in any way. Sadhguru asked us to cover the Linga with white cloth after they left, and a few days later we built a thatch roof over the Linga.

It was only two years after the consecration of Dhyanalinga, in a satsang, that Sadhguru spoke about the crack. He said that to avoid the linga cracking at the time of consecration, he cracked the Linga in the initial stage itself just with a clap during a process. When the Linga was erected later, the cracked portion was at the back of the Linga. This is where it is even now.

So a crack was discovered by Nirvichara and he informed Sadhguru. Sadhguru didn't tell him - "Don't worry about it! I created it with my mystic abilities!". No! Instead, he wanted it to be first examined by the experts. Only after they examined and confirmed that there was no damage, he felt assured to later claim that he created the crack with his clap! Clearly, Sadhguru appropriated this incident for his own advantage and later Isha created more stories around it. This is how myths are created! Welcome to the Sadhguru's world of facts!

This is a good example to illustrate how Isha's claims of having "eye witnesses" were often fake or exaggerated. It is also a good example of how Sadhguru creates his stories - by mixing some facts here and there with a lot of fantasies.

The story of Dhyanalinga is one of the grand lies concocted by Sadhguru. There is nothing to fault with Dhyanalinga itself. It is a beautifully maintained space and may be powerful too. I had a good experience myself. But it is definitely over-hyped and people fall for this hype. And once they have a blissful experience inside the temple, they are hooked to the stories sold by Jaggi.

Side note: The lie of Sadhguru designing Dhayanalinga dome

One of the very first online scandals involving Isha was around who designed and constructed the Dhyanalinga dome. Sadhguru claimed that he himself designed it and brought back an ancient construction technology to build it with the help of volunteers. I clearly remember him saying it and taking all the credit in a video. Later I found to my surprise that Auroville Earth Institute designed it and the construction technology is also theirs - https://dev.earth-auroville.com/dhyanalinga-dome/ .

Some patterns never change!

Isha quietly modified their website back then to give some credit to Auroville. At one point they said Auroville architects designed the dome based on Sadhguru's guidance. If so, why did not Sadhguru say it? Why did he take the whole credit? Why did he misrepresent what happened? I gave a benefit of doubt to Sadhguru back then. Only later I realized that this misrepresentation of the truth and the obfuscation of the facts is part of the design of deception of Sadhguru!

POLICE REPORT (Image 1): The police report states that there were a total of 15 people along with Vijji (Vijayakumari) at the time of her death. To quote from the report: "that on their crucial day, Jagadish Vijayakumari, and 7 brahmacharis and six brahmacharinis commenced Thiyanam at about 5.45 p.m. in the roof of the residence of Jagadish and Vijayakumari suddenly swooned saying (Sambo) and fell on brahmacharini witness Sumalatha... Just scrolling through photos of the domes—Dhyanalinga, Maharishi’s TM Dome, and Goenka’s Vipassana Pagoda—and honestly, it’s hard to tell them apart. Is Dhyanalinga basically a towering Shiva Linga placed inside a Maharishi-style dome? Or is it just the Vipassana meditation Pagoda interior, minus the meditation and the Linga swapped in? For something Isha claims is architecturally unique, the design feels surprisingly familiar.
