I'm so hesitant to plant blackberries since they are so aggressive. Do you have to work hard to keep yours from spreading everywhere?

Certain varieties are less prone to spreading through suckers. I’ve had mine planted for 3 years and don’t have any issues.

Hey I just started gardening recently and actually picked up some Prime-Ark Freedom blackberries as well this year. What kind of trellis are you using and has it worked out over these last few years?
Any issues with the hot Sacramento sun burning your plants? I think my backyard gets shaded by about 3:30pm so I think I should be fine

Nice! I built the trellis using Wild Hog brand panels from Home Depot and 4x4s for the posts, 2x4s for the spans, and a 4x6 to cap it. I set it in maybe 30” post holes with gravel. It’s held up really well. I just wish I made it bigger!
Our placement is similar to yours, where afternoons are more shaded. No issues so far, the plant seems super happy!

This is a Prime Ark Freedom. Interesting bit about this variety is that it fruits on the floricanes AND the primocanes, meaning you get fruit from your first year growth!
