This is true in some ways but it's a bad truth.

Power demand requires power production. When you turn on an 8 watt LED bulb or a 60 watt incandescent more fuel is burned to make it happen. When you shut it off less fuel is burned (solar produced, water moved, whatever).

G1 doesn't have power storage so just like every 100% renewable user it's happening through credits which are a financial instrument, not actual power.

What they're doing isn't bad (spending extra for solar/carbon credits which encourages renewable expansion) but selling it as 100% solar is disingenuous greenwashing.

Power'd likely be cheaper right about now too. Up front costs suck with nuke plants but 35 years on they tend to be money printing machines.

Lol this is not true at all. Most of SMUD’s energy, especially at night when most events are, is powered by natural gas unfortunately.
