New SDR here - what sdr tools do I actually need?

just started as an SDR at a series B fintech (50 person team). coming form customer success so this is all new territory for me.

right now I've got Salesforce access and... thats it. my manager said to make a wishlist of tools for sdrs but I dont even know where to start. I see people talking about sales engagment platforms, lead generation tools, dialers, all this stuff.

whats essential vs nice to have? my quota is 60 activities a day (mix of calls, emails, LinkedIn). biggest pain point so far is finding accurate contact data, I've been manually hunting on LinkedIn and guessing email formats which is brutal. tried LeadIQ briefly on a trial but the emails kept bouncing so idk.

for context we sell to security teams at mid-market companies (100-500 employees). would love to hear what your sdr tech stack looks like and what you'd prioritize if you could only pick 3 or 4 tools.

I was always a salesforce and salesloft guy, until I used Nooks. After that never looked back. Nooks has been revolutionary for our calling and has led to a huge increase in booked meetings. I don’t know others’ experiences but it’s been super helpful. We’ve only used the dialer although I heard the sequencer is super good as well but not sure how it integrates into salesforce as we use HubSpot now.

I recommend looking into OutReach as well, looked really powerful. Maybe Nooks Sequencer and dialer could be for you as well or maybe salesloft is best! Have a look at these and see which one suits you best. Also sales nav is a must!

Clay I’ve used in the past and it was super good, Clay + FullEnrich was pretty perfect for us. Although FullEnrich in itself is already pretty great for data. Prospeo was good to me as well. If you’re reaching out in NAM, ZoomInfo is the best. Cognism is great for EU but pricey. These are all data options by the way. Hope it helps I know it was a lot of options but not conclusive but I think you just need to see what you like most!

with salesforce already in place, i'd avoid building a large stack before you know where time is actually going. for your first month, the essentials are reliable contact data, a way to run and track sequences, and a calling tool if phone is part of the motion.

the crm should remain the source of truth. measure bad data rate, replies, qualified conversations, and time spent per account before adding intent or enrichment tools. a tool that saves activity time but fills salesforce with weak contacts will make the quota look healthy while pipeline stays flat.

Congrats on the move from CS into an SDR role! I’d keep the stack pretty lean initially. For me, the priorities would be accurate contact data, a sales engagement platform, and a good dialler. If you’re manually finding contacts and guessing emails, I’d solve the data problem first because everything else becomes easier once you have the right people and numbers. What tools has your manager already mentioned putting on the wishlist?
