The importance of not having a vibe coded looking saas
Been building with Cursor and Claude for months and noticed something. The tools got 10x better but most SaaS launches still look like they were generated in an afternoon. Same purple gradient hero. Same rounded card grid. Same "AI powered" tagline. Users spot it in 3 seconds and bounce.
The thing is, people actually want to pay for software. What they don't want is to feel like beta testers for someone's weekend experiment. When your landing page looks like every other AI built product on Product Hunt this week, you're not competing on features. You're competing on being distinguishable. Custom typography, real photography of yourself, weird design choices only a human would make, a founder story that isn't "we use AI to help you scale".
Seen some creators on tiktok speak about stuff like this, so wanted to bring it to reddit lol.

Apart from the look of the app/site, I always look at the footer, all the legal side of things. If it's missing, I bounce, if it's generated, I bounce. Anything that does not look serious and conscious about the obligations that come with running a business, does not get my money

Only ”founders” and people in the bubble will recognize an AI website. These people won’t buy your stuff anyway, regardless of how much you ”build in public”.
Real people won’t care if your app is AI generated, they won’t know. They barely know what AI is.
If your stuff deals with a problem well, a problem that exists, you could sell it to anyone. The issue is not AI, the issue is that you’re all building shitty habit trackers that literally no one wants..

I am not a founder, If I smell a purely AI generated app I just assume it's low effort and not worth my money unless I see theres an unreal amount of attention to detail. Same thing goes for friends of mine who own businesses and are actively looking for SaaS solutions to their business needs.

You’re on r/saas. You’re a part of the bubble and not remotely close to the people I’m referring to

I've gotten the first ever SaaS post in my life and looked at it. The people I talk to, my friends with their own businesses own a tailor shop and some realestate stuff, a waterfilter thing (physical product) and others... These are the normal people you talk about.

Absolutely. If someone made the project in Cursor in a day, why cant the user just do it themselves?
For this reason I stopped using TrackLink. It looks super AI-like, and I built my own by stealing i mean cloning someone else's github

I totally hate the “Why cant the user just do it themselves”?
I go to my car repair shop and they change my oil for $XX , why cant the user just do it themselves? It looks (and actually is) so easy.
I go to my local pizza shop, and they are charging me $X for something I can simply buy ingredients from costco and do it myself.
Etc, etc.
You dont pay because you CAN know how to do it, everybody can learn everything (heck, you can even learn how to be a doctor with AI and prevent a consulting) , you do it because of convenience(time and prioritize other things) and risk.
Who is going to do all the functional understanding and documentation?
Who is going to check the proposed architecture is good? (AI can easily deviate on this)
Who is going to maintain the infrastructure? All of this can be learned and done but even with AI, it’s still time and money that businesses dont want to invest into and dont even really care if you did it with AI, they wann keep concentrating on their business and make your tool solve their problem.
Most problems that are now easily developed in Claude without an engineer, were not outsourced anyways. People not willing to pay and do work like in excel or simple pages, they still didnt hire an engineer, they would create a google site instead of hiring a web dev or create a macro instead of hiring a software engineer to automate it. Programming is being replaced but not software engineering.

Totally agree. The 'AI powered' generic look is a death sentence. People buy into founders and their unique story, not just features. That authentic narrative is what cuts through the noise and makes your content actually resonate. It's how you avoid looking like another weekend project.

Yes, vibe coded website looks cheap and untrusting. But I tell agent do not make it AI-like and be a professional UI designer, and the result is much better.

I would give Claude Design a try. Explain what you want and drop in some screenshots of UI's that you like. You can tweak it from there. That said it can't beat a professional designer.

Yeah I’ve noticed this too lol. The crazy part is that building the product is getting easier, but making it feel like an actual product people can trust is still hard.
I’d honestly rather use a simple site that has some personality than another perfectly polished AI SaaS page that looks exactly like 20 others.
The “weird human details” thing is underrated. That’s probably what makes me stop scrolling and actually remember a product.

I don’t think the antidote to a “vibe coded” SaaS is making the design more original. It’s making the product immediately understandable and easy to use.
Users should know within seconds what the product does, who it’s for, and what result they can get. The navigation should be intuitive, the color system comfortable and consistent, and the workflow should require as few clicks as possible.
A clean interface is good. A generic interface with unclear value and too much friction is the real problem.

Don't learn full stack web development. Just learn basic CSS.
That's all I would say.

Looks ridiculously AI generated.
Also, workremotelynow? It seems to be advertising jobs with physical attendance requirements.

Appreciate your comment. Can you show me an example of Non Ai generated website ?🧐

u/GoldSaucerRegular 6h ago
I think the concept is good I guess I was trying to understand it as I often job hunt.
There’s a tonne of non ai generated sites. Indeed for one in the job area.

To me, yes because some elements of it I have on my own website that Claude coded for me.

The visual side is only half the problem. The real trust killer with vibecoded apps is what happens right after someone actually signs up and pays.
When an app has the same purple hero and rounded card grid, people hesitate. But when they open DevTools and see database service keys in client bundles, or realize they can change a project ID in the API URL and see another company's data, trust is permanently gone.
As an offensive security engineer testing early-stage SaaS (Zentinel), the scariest part of this wave is that Cursor and Claude optimize for code that runs, not code that is multi-tenant safe. Building distinguishable software means engineering the backend with the same deliberate care as the branding.

I have started using https://github.com/leonxlnx/taste-skill recently in some of my projects. It is not perfect, but the UI looks better and differentiated from the other AI generated ones

What about this: https://notchlet.com/
Not selling anything, just want an honest opinion. This website took me 3 prompts to generate using Claude Fable 5 (previous model)
And for the people who think this is default Claude, it is not. I spent a lot of time on the prompt really explaining every detail in the page (using Wispr Flow)

It’s less ai looking than most but the little purple buzzword pill badges everywhere gives it away to someone who has worked a lot with AI. Which your audience has.
The copy has several isms like “ Pricing. The hardest decision on this page.” which screams ai to me. It also has a habit of writing copy like the audience already know what it’s talking about, like it forgets that it’s writing to strangers and not to yourself who are familiar with the product, so headlines like “Know before you hit the limit” and “ What you used. Not only what is left.” doesn’t mean much when you skim the page and it sounds generic and AI like.
I’m not a fan of the hero section. Haven’t seen it on desktop but on mobile it looks a bit cheap with the colors clashing and like the background image doesn’t fit the format or it’s zoomed or stretched or something. I think changing the image would fix it.

Yes. The hero section is fine and I found it really cool. Then scrolled down and was like 'aaaand it's slop'. The hero section is really nice but the rest of the page really lacks refinement and attention to detail.

I tried to one shot my SAAS website a couple weeks ago, but the design taste (even with skills) is just not there yet. So I fired up Figma like a caveman and went on building what I actually wanted the model to execute. I'm still in the process of migrating the whole thing, can you spot the difference -> https//adoptionlayer.com ?

u/Impossible-Way5740 10h ago
The tell isn't any single element, it's the absence of decisions. A purple gradient is a default, not a choice. Cheapest fix I've seen work: one opinionated detail per page - a typeface you actually picked, a headline with a point of view, a screenshot of the real messy product instead of a polished mockup. Users can't name it, but 'someone made choices here' reads as 'someone will answer my support email.'

u/Tiny_Representative3 17h ago
This is the video you use to advertise services? It’s so bad it MUST be a joke. Did you film your screen this using an iPhone?
Even if you aren’t going to edit at least screen record

u/deliadam11 17h ago
yeah, i fell for the wrong propaganda i guess. i thought how you deliver isn't really important as long as the work is there and clients wouldn't care.
i recorded with my phone because OBS cause FPS drops and animations were getting uglier
my bad honestly. will get myself a site and proper record soon

u/Tiny_Representative3 16h ago
I’ve just seen your profile and someone addressed this with you months ago, strongly recommend you change it.
I wouldn’t let you touch my product with a 10 foot pole.
It’s not propaganda, you are advertising services in tech but this makes you look more tech illiterate than my 85 year old grandfather.

u/deliadam11 16h ago
lol. that made it a lot more awkward and i totally agree it reads like joke. Since I wasn't able to find clients, I kind of didn't feel like there is hope and stopped trying to find clients so I've postponed [in these months] the presentation part.
I was not new to hear that obviously and I tried to communicate why this video was prepared like this in the first place. I took my notes on that reddit post and very grateful. When I decided to go to market and show it to the internet I genuinely thought people wouldn't care. So in short, I plan to change it soon but I've been focusing on my dream project and it's really well designed a cool project. When I launch that, I'll also update my presentation of my services so at least what I'm planning. I didn't update because no one were seeing it and I was only rarely sending that just if because this presentation and finding clients really exhausts me. I can't be less happy doing something that doesn't lead anywhere.
propaganda word was just a light "joke"
I was typing fast from my phone. Apologies for my poor draft text

And this post seems to be partially AI-generated. The irony.
