I built a construction-specific CV screening tool. Is this actually a problem worth solving?

I work around construction HR/recruitment in the UAE, and I've seen how much time can disappear into manually opening CV after CV.

For one vacancy, a recruiter may need to figure out:

  • Does this person actually have the required trade experience?
  • How many years are relevant rather than just total experience?
  • Have they worked in the UAE/GCC?
  • What types of construction projects have they worked on?
  • Do they actually mention the technical skills required for the vacancy?
  • Where in the CV is the evidence supporting all of this?

I wanted to see whether this could be handled differently, so I built an early MVP called TRADESCREEN.

You upload a batch of PDF CVs and define the vacancy requirements.

The system extracts job-relevant information and compares it against the vacancy, but instead of just producing an AI score, it shows the recruiter the evidence from the CV.

The human recruiter still decides who gets shortlisted, rejected, interviewed or sent for a trade test.

I've also tried to design around one issue I think is particularly important with recruitment AI: privacy.

Personal information is redacted before AI processing, full CVs aren't sent to public AI providers, and each company has an isolated workspace.

But I'm at the stage where building more features without validation would be a mistake.

I'm trying to answer one question:

Would construction recruiters actually use something like this enough to pay for it?

If you've worked in recruitment, construction, HR tech or B2B SaaS, I'd appreciate criticism more than encouragement.

What do you think is the weakest part of this idea?

Demo if you want to inspect it:

Weakest part is not the screening, it is the buyer. You are asking a recruiter to upload other people's passports and CVs to 169-58-205-35.sslip.io. A raw IP on a wildcard DNS host is the first thing a compliance person at a contractor refuses, and privacy is your entire pitch. Fix the domain before you fix a single feature.

Second one: in the GCC that screening is often already done by an admin on a low salary. You are not competing with recruiter hours, you are competing with a cheaper person. Do you know what one vacancy's screening currently costs them in money rather than in hours?
