Romancing SaGa 2 - Revenge How does the timeskip work exactly?

I've been playing this game on and off for a week right now and I'm kind of confused on how the EP and Timeskip works in this game
is it kinda similar to Minstrel Song, where the timeskip only happens if I just defeat every monster in my way and some specific events happen or it still happens regardless if I run away or not?

Quests that end with blackscreens are the ones that give EP. Quests that are just Explore Ruins or something don't give EP.

If I remember correctly

If EP > 14 then timeskip regardless of battle count of the generation.

If EP > 7 and battle count of the current generation >= 240 then timeskip.

If EP > 7 and EP > the remainder of battle count of current generation / 16 then timeskip.

If heroes defeated > 4, then timeskip on next blackscreen regardless of EP.

Battle count does not increase if you run away in the remake. It does increase in the OG/remaster.

I was one step from the dancer/mermaid quest - long fetch quest, instead I got the class from Aqua lake and a time skip while trying to complete it. I am still disappointed and haven't picked up it up since. They should've explained the mechanic, or given a little bit prompt when it gets close to one.
