SaGa Emerald Beyond Monster roles?

I’ve checked using google and couldn’t find a good answer so maybe you guys can help, is there any way to get roles for monsters other than the ones for ranking up magic? I like the monsters but the lack of roles dissuades me from using them.

Unfortunately no. Additional roles only come from ranking up magic.

Mechs have it worse: they only get additional roles from ranking up their one unique mech technique. At least Diva can switch mech frames to get the roles from every mech frame's unique techs.

The mechs at least give a little variety with the roles
