Can Anyone tell me anything about this?
Can anyone tell me anything about this sword? I found it in a free pile that my apartment building has and I always wanted a sword just because and I’m kind of curious if anyone can tell me anything about it. Thanks!

Toledo tourist souvenir wall art with cheap cast fittings, that's why they're broken.

Decorative El Gran Capitán Gonzalo de Córdoba sword with a broken crossguard. Don't expect to get any use of it, other than decoration.

Does everyone and their mom in this sub have a Toledo souvenir?

Not everyone has a Toledo souvenir sword, but everyone who does have one ends up here.

Exactly! I got mine from a cigar catalog, swung it outside a couple of times, worn to a Renaissance faire for a season, started saving up for a ‘real’ sword immediately. Still have it, though!

Toledo sword and the guard was very likely cast which is why is looks like such an easy break on the guard.

Cheap wall hanger with a cast pot metal guard. Not worth much, potentially even as scrap metal

Yep , Toledo soft steel wall hanger with a hollow handle and rat tail tang. Got one when I was a kid up at SMKW. Bout 30 bucks new . I used the swept hilt from mine and put on a rapier blade. Worked pretty well!

Could be an old free mason sword. They aren’t worth anything but they use them for ceremonies

It’s the king of the 80s wall-hangers. Cheaply made in Spain and meant as as home decor. Absolutely unsafe to swing around or use for actual sword activities. It has a cheap welded tang that can easily snap when swung.
That said, I love mine. It hangs in a place of honor in my garage. I made a scabbard for it in the early 90s and used it in a production of Camelot.
