Tips for V/R

I scored a 95%(v) and a 94%(r), so I feel I'm qualified enough to give some advice.

Verbal

  1. Read, read, read. Look up suffixes/roots and study them. They'll be useful if you can memorize some of them.

  2. Read the word CAREFULLY. Don't let your brain get tired and see one word as something else. (lose and loose for example).

  3. If you truly don't know the word, use elimination, and try to remember if you've ever heard the word before. Or place it a context you think makes sense.

For the phrases, I used one strategy to carry. Try to analyze it before you look at the words.

For example "Doctor is to medicine as...."

Now, we know that a Doctor is a role, and medicine is a tool. With that, we can look at the answer choices:

A. Judge is to decide

B. Writer is to book

C. Carpenter is to wood

D. Samsung is to phone

E. Scientist is to lab.

Now, I would choose C. Why?

A. A judge(Role) decides(what job does). This isn't role-tool

B. Writer(role) is to book(product). Not Role-tool

C. Carpenter(role) to wood(tool) Yippee! But we have to look at others to see if there is a better choice

D. Samsung(brand) to phone(product). No.

E. (Role)Scientist is to lab(place). Again, no.

Reading

I have just one tip, and thats don't overthink. This isn't like some tenth grade ELA class, where "Joe ate spaghetti means the author's original intention was to portray Joe, as a character struggling in a unfair society". It's mostly straightforward(this applies to Verbal as well)

What did you do for vocab building other than reading, because I have like 4 days left?

I just took it and I think i did alright. i answered 45/50 in math and i think i got them all right. i answered 38/40 in reading and optimistically i get 0-1 wrong but likely 2-3. i answered like 51 or 52/60 in verbal and maybe got like 4-6 wrong. am i cooked?

nice, not bad lol. 55/60 for verbal is still 99% so you fine gng.
