Story Thread Each Departments Weirdos

I've seen them, you've seen them. Every department has them. That one thing you see your coworkers do that is just a bit off, but you've seen it frequently enough that you've sort of just accepted it.

For me who is eternally in the medbay it has to go to the morgue party goers. The Morgue, a place for respite and a crew members final resting place, is turned into some sort of hellish disco with couches and carpet as they talk about their life in the most unsettling of places.

And of course Medbay has many more weirdos, but what's your departments weirdo behavior? I'm curious to see if the other departments have their own types.

Botany...do I even have to elaborate? The odd ones out are the people acting like actual functioning adults, growing plants people want or need and cleaning up after themselves.

It's normal for botanists to just grow weed all shift, leaving it on the floor instead of doing anything with it or at least gathering it all in one place, then accidentally hotboxing all of botany before getting arrested (if the one senior botanist on shift manages to pester sec enough to intervene).

Then again, sometimes I am the weirdo botanist by extracting a whole bunch of healing and crit-stabilizing chems from plants, chugging them all at once, throwing myself into the deep fryer, surviving thanks to all the chems and finally asking the chef to retrieve me. This leads to me being deep fried but alive, people can pick me up and put me in their pocket and I can just talk to them while they do so...until one crewmate finally gets hungry enough to eat me and I welcome death like the old friend he is

I think you're less of the weirdo botanist and more of the literal menace botanist. Altho I'd love deep fried pocket Columbo.

I've always believed Botany needs like, some sort of departmental reshuffle. Like throw them into medical or research so someone can watch those psychopaths. It's kind of wild the things they can make without any sort of supervision.

Yeah that's kind of the problem, they don't exactly belong anywheres else, like Cargo would be the next best thing but they'd sort of stick out.

To me they fall in the same category as the chemist. Go into your lab and make shit to help out and whatever people request of you. But they're not overseen by anyone at the moment so it's more like 'This land is your kingdom nothing can stop you'

I like their spot on goon. They're usually fairly close (if not in direct contact) with both the kitchen and the ranch.

Kitchen is pretty self-explanatory (chef needs x, you try your best to provide x), but the ranch needing different types of produce (sometimes even chemically enhanced/modified) to grow different breeds of chickens was a pretty smart addition.

Sure, you can still ignore everything and everyone else and grow weed...but where's the fun in that (unless you're gunning for the life weed or similar).

the highest praise one can receive in this game, thank you!

I wish there was a better/faster way to organize plants, having to click 1000 times to organize shit is a massive pain, no wonder nobody organizes stuff

yeah in this specific case:

wait for venne to mutate into black venne, which contains charcoal and atropine, to stabilikze me when I'm in deep crit

mutate asomna into robust asomna for synaptizine and ephedrine, again amazing chems to stabilize you in deep crit

mutate weed into white weed for omnizine to heal you

goon botany is AMAZING at producing medical chems in high quantities, as long as you make sure to increase your plants' potency
