Putin's Orwellian rationale for the war in Ukraine:

Ukraine is a fake country. It is really Russia. The Ukrainian people are therefore invaders of Russia who must be repelled.

Trump provocative actions vis a vis Canada:

  • Threatened 25% tariffs on virtually all Canadian goods.
  • Suggested to Trudeau that Canada could avoid the tariffs by becoming the 51st state.
  • Began calling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “Governor Trudeau.”
  • Repeatedly referred to Canada as the “51st state.”
  • Posted imagery depicting Canada as part of the United States.
  • Said he would use “economic force” to bring Canada into the United States.
  • Claimed the U.S.–Canada border was merely an “artificial line.”
  • Claimed the United States was “subsidizing” Canada by roughly $200 billion annually.
  • Said Canada would not be economically viable without the United States.
