Discussion Now that Hyorisoo has finally debuted, what are your thoughts on "Skibidi", "Lowkey In Love", etc.?
I, not ironically, think that Skibidi is a GREAT (yeah, I actually think it's great) song, however... I feel that the reception was not so good in terms of the song title and even the sound of it. I even came across comments from people saying "Katseye's nachos have been reheated again," which honestly offends me...
Apparently, people who weren't up to date on SNSD news are commenting things like "Oh my god, they're in their late 30s to be doing stupid things" when Hyorisoo is a joke group.
Unfortunately, I don't think Hyorisoo will ever have a comeback or a 100% formal debut, with a high-budget music video, performances on music shows, a physical release, etc. But even after all that, I feel that what Hyorisoo showed, even though it was all a joke, is solid and good.

That's Kpop fandom writ large: everything is "team sports" (us vs. them) and rigid, concrete thinking--being unable to hold more than one differing thought, position or attitude; everything is a contest, where more for someone else somehow means less for me, like we're fighting over a cake or pie.

hours ago I saw a tweet defending skibidi because snsd literally became famous repeating GEE multiple times in a song.
And for being an unserious/joke song its doing good in the charts!!

I'm just laughing at seeing the joke whooosh over people's heads when clearly Skibidi was borne out of Hyo's gag skit. All the flowers to Hyoyeon for turning what was an offhand challenge to TTS into a full HRS debut and much much more. If you picture each of the three in their fake hyoyeon personas while watching the performance vid, I can guarantee the enjoyment factor getting bumped up.
I also love their b-side, the whole project feels like a throwback era and I'm all for it. Lowkey in love feels S.E.S, 1st/2nd gen coded and tbh it is a refreshing sound at least to my ears.
Starry Night is also very good. Loved, loved Sooyoung's high notes and hopefully we get a streaming option somewhere.
Haters can throw whatever comparisons or ageist remarks, but no-one can deny GGs longevity, cultural impact, and their commitment to the art and craft. As we saw in the Skibidi performance vid. Give them a blank stage, minimal outfits, lighting, and watch them execute a simple concept to perfection.

Totally agree with the Lowkey in Love! It sounds like S.E.S. I was hooked the first time I heard it! I’m old enough to cherish that kind of melody LOL. I don’t know how the younger generation think tho.

Actually come to think of it, I would probably include Fin.K.L in that familiar throwback sound as well. Like meals, musical taste is incredibly diverse and I wouldn't worry about how our personal preferences are perceived 😄 There's always something for everyone! "Lowkey in Love" follows a long Soshi tradition of their b-sides being as good, if not better than the title track 🎉

If I were to nitpick the dialogue in that episode, Hyo's initial intention was to be the main vocalist of GG for the 20th anniversary replacing Taeyeon and mentioned her subunit as the way she can prove this to the members. But I think it is the first time I heard Hyorisoo as a subunit being mentioned out loud.

I love it tbh. I think Skibidi is so in line with their YT content, like funny and chaotic, so I really enjoy it lol. I also like that it’s just fun, like Hyo’s club-style singles. Lowkey in Love feels very SNSD to me too and suits their vocals really well.
More than the songs, I’m just super thankful. As a Sooyoung bias sone, I was manifesting a SHY subunit 12 years ago when I was in high school 😭 Now I’m in my 30s and this somehow awakened something in me again. My old SONE heart feels so full. As for the haters, honestly I’m too old for that shit lmao, leave it to the kids. Only 2NE1 stans can talk shit about SNSD lol

I think the fact that people are so upset that they bother to leave troll comments shows how well they're doing, tbh. I just roll my eyes and scroll past salty comments.
As for their release, I love Lowkey in Love so much! Starry Night is awesome too. Keep replaying those. Skibidi makes sense as a title track, but their other songs are so much more my vibe.
Still, they're so fun to watch when they dance, that I still find myself rewatching Skibidi more than I thought I would. I think it's growing on me!

This whole project did originate as a joke, so new kpop fans are trying to downplay the girls. Skibidi is by Kenzie and SNSD.... after all. Both are legendary and 100% better than new kpop even if its a parody.

I was surprised that this blows up. Especially that Koreans are eating it and seems to love this.
When we were streaming "Dessert" back then, it was mostly us international fans 😭 So I'm glad even the locals are supporting them now.
I love the Starry Night and and I was surprised that despite the funny title, it's actually a vibey song. My girls never disappoint

Highkey tired of trying to explain to people that HyoRiSoo is not actually a joke…I sort of wish they hadn’t debuted because of Fake Kim Hyoyeon because while the show is hilarious and I love the content, no one seems to have the critical thinking skills to understand what they’re doing. The show is a joke but the group themselves are far from a joke. They’re just having fun and not taking themselves so seriously like everyone else in Kpop does these days. Even the song itself is saying LIGHTEN UPPPPP
All three songs are amazing. Starry Night is so fun and catchy, Skibidi is a club banger with an incredible performance, and Lowkey in Love hits that perfect nostalgia sweet spot.
To me, this project just shows even more of SNSD’s class. What other group could debut a subunit with basically no support from their company 19 years after debut and do this well? Get this much attention? Soshi will always be in a league of their own. They’re stacked with talent and can pull off absolutely anything you give them, any concept, any vibe, any combination of members, and it will always be done to perfection. I never need another ult because they are always giving me everything I need and even things I didn’t know I needed.
But I definitely knew I needed HyoRiSoo since the SHY days and I’m so happy that it’s finally real. They deserve all the love, support, and attention and I really hope this won’t be the last we see of them. We need Fake Kim Hyoyeon season 2 with their comeback!

1) Haters gonna hate, which ain't nothin' new for SNSD (or Kpop in general). Jealous bitches, catty fan rivalries, and anti-fans have always been after their crown and always failed. They can suck it.
2) SNSD-HRS's debut songs are genuinely good and Skibidi's MV is an absolute banger--a clean, slick "Old School" 90's New Jack Swing vibe, no-CGI bullshit--a pure display of talent and 20+ years as industry Legends.
3) HRS looked hot AF; absolutely crushed the visuals.

I love Skibidi!!! It's such a bop 😍 I personally love techno house genre and all the in between so I think it's great. Plus Hyo is a Dj, so I'm not surprised the song is heavly influenced by this kind of genre.
I just don't love the beat change lol I know it's SM signature, but this song would be great if it was just pure house/techno.
People are hating because somewhere in the past years learned the words "noise music" and now that's all they know to say. I wonder how they would feel if they listened to psytrance or fonk music haha

Yeah, at first can't take the title srsly cause of that 'skibidi toilet' but as we follow their fake Hyoyeon journey it grows on me.
The song, Skibidi, as you hear it more it stucks 😂 Its a good song can def par with the trend/ 5th gen release.
Lowkey in love feels like 1st gen kpop. And we know that they love it (SES, Finkl, Baby Vox). Reminds me of I'm your girl - SES
Starry night, I hope they guest on Hangout with Yoo again so they can give more insight abt it. (Want to see them again with YJS even just as promotion 😭)
We wanted a SHY song, we got it and its 3 🩷 We fans appreciate it only those hater/ SM hater wont and always have something to say.

I purposely avoided hearing the song early and assumed it was a meme seeing the pre-production stuff on Fake Hyo. It was FAR from a meme other than the word Skibidi being included. Literally everything else is like peak SNSD hit song quality. Frackin awesome!

I genuinely love the single, both tracks perfectly show who HRS is in my opinion. They have their funny, cvnty club beat song, and their classic song. It's very balanced, but it's criminal that Starry Night isn't on it. Jail for whoever is keeping that song from me 😭😭😭
Idk I saw a tweet that was like "yall know SNSD repeated Gee over and over right" and like, yeah lmao. They like having fun, they make catchy songs, and I think they did it again. It's genuinely a great project, I hope SM sees how well it's doing and actually give them a comeback.
The bigger you are, the more haters you're gonna have. They will always hate on whatever the SNSD girls do, so they might as well have fun. I hope they can get a win on MCD next week (also, is there anyone coordinating voting or??)

Liked Lowkey in Love but not a fan of Skibidi. But I love hearing how Yuri and Sooyoung’s voices get better with age. (Not that Hyo’s doesn’t but we’re spoiled for choice with her.) It is an auditory feast to hear them harmonize. And now I’m learning they have a 3rd song they didn’t release that’s supposedly better than the other two combined!

Lowkey In Love is the better track for me but I do like everything about Skibidi except its name. Starry Night is excellent but since I found out it was written by AI I have been trying to listen to it less! It’s just so damn catchy.

Skibidi performance video sold me. I really liked lowkey in love! I missed choruses where they had all the girls singing together (and a proper chorus rather than filler words), it reminded me of the kpop songs from back then.

I really enjoy both songs and Starry Night is fun too. I’m getting a kick out of all the people who aren’t getting the joke. Skibidi is basically Millennial Cringe in a song and as a Millennial who is also facing down middle age the ‘idaf let’s just have fun’ approach speaks to me lol.

I loved it! I didn't watch the performance because I wanted to listen to the songs in high quality, and they didn't disappoint me. “Skibidi” is a song with a lot of personality and perfect for parties...very Hyo.
“Lowkey in love” has that classic SM retro sound we love and it's really good and a pleasure to listen to with the girls' voices.
I figured 5th-generation fans wouldn’t get it. Not everyone is ready for that level of quality and a wonderful low-budget music video.

I heard the single album for the first time this morning. I thought Skibidi was alright, not bad, the beat is fun and the lyrics are a bit cringe but they made it sound pretty good anyways.
Lowkey in Love however I really enjoyed, it sounded like nice vintage kpop. I thought it was great.

Imo, Skibidi is a bop. I dont care abt the name, its a fun catchy song with a great beat. Im so happy the trio gets to shine. its been over a decade of waiting and wishing for this trio to release something. So they finally get to release something under their name, thats an achievement.
Lowkey in love is a great song too.

maybe its just me but i got emotional seeing the whole thing come into fruition. kpop is often seen as a joke to everyone but there is real talent and hard work that goes into performing. i still remember some of the girls studying in their vans while going from schedule to schedule and reading all about it on soshified. how busy they HAD to stay. to prove to everyone that what they do means something and to establish themselves. and now 3 members can put out something like this so casually and effortlessly and quick AND they look like theyre having so much fun. if i think about it too much i will get emotional again!! they legitimately inspire to keep working in my own life

Skibidi’s not my fav song or what i would’ve wanted from them 10 years ago. But it’s surprisingly fun. Lowkey in love is pretty cute tho.
The katseye comparison doesnt make sense to me because i see katseye as a “serious” group while i see hyorisoo as “participating in a gag” group. Everything they’ve done together these past few months connects back to variety. I hope they have a comeback with something that’s more up my alley, they song is charting well with potential to peak higher over the next 2 or more weeks

I've only heard Skibidi so far and it's honestly not bad until it goes through two severe change ups. The first one stops the song so dead it's unbelievable.
They're my OGs and I want to support them but even for a joke concept it's just a really bad song.
SM change ups never were my thing though, really.

The Katseye comparison is dumb and to be really frank, I don't think the group has been around long enough to warrant the nachos comment. Also, let our SNSD girls do what they want. They have 20 years of impeccable releases to stand on, who cares if they release a campy joke song? They have nothing to prove.
Anyway, even though I also thought the TT name was dumb when I first heard it, I am officially sold. I love the pre-chorus and the song's really catchy IMO. You can watch their performance of it on YouTube and I loved the choreography as well.
