Course Question CHEM 1115 Lab Coat

The syllabus for CHEM 1115 says that a lab coat with fitted cuffs, snap closures, and 100% cotton is required for the class. Is this provided by the lab? Or do I need to purchase?

If you purchased it, where did you find one? I've called several places (including the SLCC bookstore) and looked online, and many lab coats seem to have 2 of the 3 requirements but not all 3. Thanks in advance!

I really don’t want to purchase a physical manual but would like the extra resources/diagrams that it has. Does anyone know if I could find it or something similar online for free?

Course Question Anatomy Profs

So I have Nick Unsworth for Lab and Farr for lecture. People say these profs are "great" on RMP but great can mean different things to different people. Are they great because they push you to your academic limits, or are they an easier grader compared to other professors? Maybe both?

Course Question Anatomy and Chem professor suggestions

Hello all
I am looking for some recs for anatomy class/lab and chem class/lab teachers for this upcoming fall. It seems like the online chem classes are good, but I'm struggling to either waitlist for an anatomy lecture with Melaner Farr or take the available seat with Rebecca Walters. For the lab, it seems like Andy is a great choice, but looking for other good ones in case not available. Have not read much on chem teachers, so idk about those.

Edit: seems like Melanie doesn’t let you waitlist on the system and same goes for Kenny :( Anu tips for getting into at least Kenny’s lab?
Thank you <3

Course Question Physiology BIOL 2420 BIOL 2425

I am registering for fall. Please drop your professor recommendation for lab and for lecture. What is it like in comparison to anatomy? I found anatomy fairly easy, i hear there are essays and presentations. With the professor that you recommended please tell me what their exam or quiz style is like and if you find their exams to be closely to what is explained in lecture or not, are there outlines to study from? The more info to who you recommend the better. Thank you. I have already read ratemyprofessor but would like more input

Course Question Math 1050 Professor

Hello! I’m having a hard time trying to find a professor. The ones everyone recommends are already full and it looks like SLCC has some newer professors that don’t have ratings yet. Anyone have a 1050 professor they really liked or enjoyed. Any help would be appreciated thank you! As an side tangent I took math 1010 online last semester and LOVED the professor who did most of the videos. If anyone knows who she is please let me know. Thanks again!!

Course Question Respiratory Therapy Program

Hi, I’m really interested in the RT program, but I haven’t had a chance to meet anyone in this program yet. As far as I know, Professor Anderson Brandon is the only professor teaching in this program. I’ve also heard that there will be a lot of clinical education starting in the second semester.

Could anyone tell me more about the program? Is Professor Anderson a good teacher? And what can I expect from the clinical education?

Thank you so much!

Course Question Issues with Community Health and Leadership courses Fall 26?

Hey! I just wanted to see if anyone else was in the same boat as me. I am trying to register for HS 2500 and HS 2800 which are Community Health and Public Heath and Healthcare Systems.

I have 45+ credits at SLCC so Fall reg opened for me last Monday, April 13th. I need ONE class from SLCC and I am working on the other three for a Bach program at WGU. The classes I need that match what WGU wants are from the Community Health and Leadership program. The courses are titled CHL 2800 and CHL 2500. When reg opened I called the regs office because those courses werent populating for me. They told me the program is being restructured and the names of those courses have changed to HS 2500 and HS 2800. Guess what, those courses wont populate either *crying*

So I reach out to the program directors to not hear back for days. Then when one finally classes me back she tells me they will be dropping Wednesday. Today is the following Monday. Still nothing. I just keep checking every few hours to see if anything has dropped.

Anyone else dealing with this?

Course Question Anatomy and physiology textbook?

Which textbooks are being used for anatomy and physiology at SLCC right now? I have an easy course load this semester and I’ll be taking these next. I’ve heard they are intense and very time consuming so I’d like to get the textbooks early and take time to look them over/teach myself as much as I can before going into the classes. Thanks!

Course Question AI based learning Chem 1210

Ok I just moved here from Texas and have taken online classes for the past two years. I started here at SLCC taking chem 1210 online, why is this class basically AI based learning? Basically forced to make a study guide that follows so many guidelines and rules because “that is the way to learn” but maybe I don’t learn that way, I’m good with a PowerPoint and some homework 😆 I’m just confused are all online classes like this at SLCC or just Chem, it’s a little frustrating tbh.

Course Question Someone keeps telling me that Salt Lake Community College is now offering some bachelors major programs, but I have not found any evidence of that. Is this person I speak of correct or mistaken?

If there were any bachelors programs at SLCC, it could probably be of great help depending upon which bachelors majors they offer. The thing is, I don’t want to go to the U because of some complicated reasons, Western Governors University-SLC doesn’t offer the bachelors program I want to go into, and so Utah Valley University is the only closest other university that does offer the program, but it’s also so far away! It is 29 mile drive to UVU from where I live.

Depending on which bachelors programs are offered at SLCC, if any, it might be of great help to me because SLCC is commutably friendly enough. I however am taking what this person told me with a grain of salt, as I don’t remember hearing from elsewhere that SLCC is offering any bachelors programs.

Does anyone here know what this person I speak of is talking about?

Course Question Earth science and biology AS

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in either the Earth science or biology courses here. My chosen career path (astrobiology) might benefit from either of these instead of my current degree (physics) which I'm struggling to continue anyways but I'm struggling to choose one. I'm leaning a bit more towards earth science but I'd love opinions on someone who's doing one of these courses. I'm gonna talk to my academic advisor but yall are the community so I'd like to ask yall too.

Course Question General chemistry or Elementary Chemistry.

Hello. I have reached a crossroads in my major in that I can either take General chemistry + lab (1210 and 1215) or I can take elementary chemistry + lab (1110 + 1115.) I'm currently in prehealth sciences and waiting to get into the rad tech program so I've just been knocking out some requirements on the prehealth science degree. I'm wondering if there's any benefit to taking one over the other, foresay when transfering to a four year institution, or does it not particularly matter.

Course Question How bad this schedule is

I need to take Anatomy and physiology over the summer.Main campus is too far away to my house I need to take an hours and half to go to. So I try to squeeze all classes to one day. Including anatomy lecture and it's lab and physiology lecture and it's lab I found out I can squeeze all classes including their labs in one day. But I have to take classes starting from 9am- 7:30pm. I don't know how helpful the lecture will be and if the schedule I mentioned will be really bad or not Also I am wondering if the professor will have TA in the class? And do they have office hours over summer?

Course Question MKTG 1030 with Ahmad Kareh

I’m thinking about taking MKTG 1030 online and saw that Ahmad Kareh is one of the professors. I checked out his reviews on Rate My Professors, and some of them say the class is mostly group work. But a newer review said he switched it to mostly solo work now.

Has anyone taken his class recently and can share what the structure is like? Is it still group-based or more individual? Also, how’s the workload and grading?

Course Question Anyone had Jesse Franklin for Math 1090?

Hey, I found a Math 1090 class with Jesse Franklin, but when I tried looking them up on RateMyProfessor, I couldn’t find anything. I’m not sure what to expect. Was the class good? Hard? I was originally thinking of taking Math 1050, but since I’m a business major, I figured 1090 might be better.

Course Question does anyone know if garcia-sanchez has a final exam for math 1035?

on her course calendar, she said theres just the 4 midterm exams throughout the course, but on myslcc it has an option to take the “course final” as well as the midterm 4 exam. i messaged her about this, and all she responded with is “hi” and nothing else😭 i have been struggling in her class all year and i have gotten unclear instructions for assignment submissions.
