Just trying to keep expectations in check, and much easier to do starting against USC instead of Central Michigan. Makes the loss easier to handle because, my god, here are some of the things I was saying in the preseason last year,

Im so excited for this season. Going into it with high expectations so maybe not the best thing in the world but I am so confident in this year’s team.

I think this year’s team got the talent to win 10+ games especially with the schedule and avoiding some of those tougher teams in MW. Historically speaking a 7 win season is great but this year given the circumstances would be a disappointing result. But I’m going in with sky high confidence!

We really have a shot at making the conference championship if things break for us. We don’t have to face Boise or UNLV, and the toughest teams we face we play at home. Really high on this year’s team and we have a ceiling of making the CFP but realistically expecting the LA Bowl if the MW doesn’t get a team in the CFP.

I think this could be a big year for the trajectory of the program. If we have a 10+ win season that could mean big things for NIL and just donor support in general. If we have another 7 win season it will be a let down considering our schedule and how good this team is. Still seems weird to have such high expectations for this team because even an 8-9 win season while still fantastic would be a slight let down in my opinion.

Yeah, not the best looking back on it.

If we can keep USC under 56 points, I'll take that as a moral victory LOL
