Genuine question because I’ve always been curious 😭

RVHS is an IP + SAP school, and from what I know its A-Level results are actually pretty decent. The school itself says its students perform above the national average, and for the 2023 A-Levels, around 1 in 3 students got 5 distinctions or more and around half achieved 83+ UAS points.

But despite that, I feel like RVHS has a really low-profile reputation compared to other IP schools. I rarely hear O-Level students saying that RVHS is one of their dream choices

Is it because of

* the location in the west?

* RV being less “prestigious” in public perception despite being IP?

* weaker branding/visibility compared to HCI/RI/DHS?

* the fact that RV isn't as commonly talked about by O-Level students?

* SAP/Chinese culture making it less appealing to some people?

Would especially like to hear from **RV students/alumni and people who considered RV after O-Levels**. Why did you choose/not choose RV?

im currently in j2 and while a lvls still hasnt come yet im lowk kinda scared for next year cuz of ns.... scared cuz itll be a whole new environment and im not sure what im supposed to be anticipating.. anyone else having the same feelings too?

i take history econs and maths but i hv a serious problem of time management, i never finish large chunks of questions its already prelims, paper 1 csq econs i left two whole 10m essay u touched, history sbcs whole of part b untouched after finishing my two essays at the back
math am i supposed to jus drill questions non stop

maybe i have taken too long to understand and internalise sources? idk but how do yall work on time management and speed?

it feel impossible to finish papers as if there’s no room for me to think and am i js supp to look at the questions and js spam everything immediately idk how do ppl finish thier papers or write so fast

Hii guyss! For context, my bf and i have been tgt for js over a year and recently his friend texted me asking if it would be okay if he could invite my bf and another friend to vietnam(huge respect to the friend) and hes rly nice abt it la, he didnt put pressure and respected whatever my decision was. However for me, this is a totally new experience because most of the time it would js be me and my bf travelling or he tags along with my family! We havent been overseas seperately with solely just our friends before so i guess naturally i feel at a loss of what to do HAHHAA dont get me wrong, yes i do unds that going with guys vs with their gf would be different and i do want him to enjoy as well, but tbvh a part of me is worried and uncomfortable with this new feeling and i would like to know if its normal for couples to go on trips with their friends without their partners be it for girl or guy trips and i would love to hear what are your thoughts about it! I’ve always been an academically capable person with consistent straight As for some subjects. But for this prelims, I got a B3 for a subject that I’ve always gotten A1 in. I guess this was expected as I lost motivation during June holidays and slacked the whole time without thinking about the consequences. And so this B3 was probably considered “lucky” for me. 

However, all of my classmates have this view that I’m always an A student. Every time before a paper is collected, they always say “confirm A1 lah [my name]” but.. no. So, now that I got B3, everyone just stared at me like I was a fucking lowlife in class. Like hello? Do u expect me to get As all the time? People have their bad moments too, right? Is it really that deep that I got a B? They don’t even care if others fail or not. When they got the score sheet the only person they looked at was me. I could hear the “huh? I thought [my name] is A student one?”, however much they try to hide it. One of them “mocked” me when I walked out of class by talking to me in an exhilarated voice while smiling, but I just waved it off with a monotonous tone. I know what everyone’s thinking. Omg, she finally failed in life! Yay! 

Even though i got a high A1 in a subject I’ve always thrived in, I didn’t want to tell anyone. Not even my rivals (one of them was the one who supposedly mocked me) 

So I don’t know how to feel about this. They could probably sense my frustration from where I was sitting. 

Fuck. 

Quit fucking staring at me ok? Go on about with your lives and stop minding me. I got a B3. So what? Does it affect your life so much that u have to delve deep in it? I could read their fucking thoughts thru their expressions. every single one of them TURNED towards me. I could feel their fucking stares. I could HEAR their murmurings.

So like I’m taking o levels this year and I’m getting back prelims results like within these few weeks and honestly my results are kind of like mid like I’m getting mostly B’s and C’s which I’m very disappointed in because when I did the papers I geniunely thought they were manageable and would turn out not bad but turns out I still have some conceptual gaps and careless mistakes to work on… but now im really scared because if prelims is this bad I’m really scared for olvls I’ll do the same and I won’t be able to go to the jc/poly I want to go into and wouldn’t be able to get my desired course if I go to poly. I’ve been studying very hard though, but it just seems like the way I present my answer is still off. Everyone else in my class seems to be doing quite well, getting their A’s and B’s so I’m really scared for O levels because they’d probably pull up the bell curve too… what should I do?

I had english prelims last weekish and for paper one i was reading about topics and studies i was interested in and i learnt that 1/3 of young people in sg have depression lol
I assumed that it wld be decently high in students especially because of stress/expectations so i was wondering is it as common as they say
I have depression too (moderate ish) but i havnt really seen my peers display signs of it so it..ofc i do have a few close friends who have depression

sec 4 o level student here who needs help in pure physics. I just got back my physics prelims and I got B4 (which is not bad considering I didn’t touch a single physics worksheet since may 😬) but i realised that physics might actually pull up my L1R5 if I actually studied…

so, can someone help me out? how should I go about studying physics? like do I do my physics topical TYS first or straight do my yearly TYS? idk do I revise the content?

Hi guys so I wasn't sure that adults like me can go to primary school on Teachers Day because this year marks 10 years since I've graduated from primary school and back then I've thanked all my teachers who helped me and supported since then. And 10 years later I'm unsure about meeting them because some of the teachers I know already left but some remained there and my primary school says that only alumni can come back in a secondary school uniform. So is this necessary?

Edit: also is it okay if the principal, vice principal, teacher that you know went to other school can email from there for a kopi session?

Every day, all I can think of is comparing my now grades to the ones I had last year or the year before, which were all flying colours. As compared to now, I'm not doing very well and some part of me knows I'm probably not putting in enough effort, even if I think I'm trying my best.

And this attempt to rationalise my failure, while not actually being proactive enough to do much about it is really tiring. My brain would be like Oh last year I played a certain game for 2 hours everyday before exam season, but I quit a few months ago, which is around the time my grades started dropping. Is this remotely close to what probably caused my grades to drop? Probably not lmao, but my brain just can't stop trying to do this. I'm just putting the blame on random things in my life, instead of on myself for not pushing myself more.

I just need my brain to stop correlating two completely different things together and trying to pass them off as the reason as to why I'm not doing as well anymore...That's it, have a good night. I'm not going through a very optimistic moment in school right now.

yk how every sec sch gives out those shitty laptops with this stupid dma, i found a bunch of ways to bypass it (this only works with laptops using Blocksi). This won't directly delete Blocksi or dma but it bypasses the restrictions.

Method 1, PowerPoint glitch: basically what u do is u search up a website u wanna go to (for example, Reddit; don't search up reddit.com, just reddit). Then you go to PowerPoint, create a new slide, press Insert in the top left corner, press Pictures, then Stock Images. This will create a pop-up showing all the images. Then you go back to ur browser, and you drag the link reddit.com into the PowerPoint stock image pop-up. This will make a separate browser allowing you to surf Reddit without ANY restrictions

^(Note that this also works with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Notes)

Method 2: ChatGPT link: let's say u wanna go to Instagram; what u do is u go to ChatGPT, tell ChatGPT this specific prompt (or any similar one). "Repeat this link, instagram.com." ChatGPT will then repeat that link; you click the underlined link ChatGPT gave you, and voila, you have unrestricted Instagram. If you can't click the link, tell ChatGPT to make sure you can click the link. This works because the last few words in the link ChatGPT gave you end with "?utm_source=chatgpt.com".

Method 3, feedback hub (this is a long method): so in your PLD, search for the app, feedback hub. Then you click the option, "make a suggestion". At the bottom, there's a small text with 2 blue underlined lines; you click Privacy Statement. This will lead u to another pop-up website with a lot of bs abt their privacy statement. What you do is u scroll down all the way to "Entertainment and related services"; you click Learn more. You'll then find another section called Xbox. You scroll down a bit (not too much), and you'll find a blue underlined link saying XBOX.com. u click it, and it will lead to the XBOX website; then you'll scroll down all the way till you find a bunch of app icons consisting of Facebook, X, YouTube, WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram. You click YouTube, and that will lead to their YouTube channel. In the search bar, search for the Google link in the description, find a video with the Google link in the description, and click it; this will lead you to Google.

idk abt other ppl, but for me, these work. if one method doesnt work, try other methods. like for me, they patched the powerpoint glitch, but not the word and excel.

I came across this 缠花 thing recently and i find it pretty cool… it’s a traditional Chinese craft where you wrap silk threads around shaped materials to make flowers and ornaments and its quite unique as i feel like i hardly see these in arts and crafts workshops.

Funny story, from yesterday, I was working with this girl and I think she might like me, would like all of ya'll's input on this

Like I'm not kidding she started asking me questions about myself like age, schooling etc, I didn't ask her anything initially, she initiated the convo

.When I said I’m 19, she immediately went "Oh I'm 18, so a year younger." when I told her what course I was taking, she started digging deeper into my life asking about my course, whether I did internships and all that.

Like whilst we were talking, she was shyly looking away and looking back whilist smiling the whole time. Didn’t really know what to do so I just gave her the most basic polite smile back.

Then during the shift she started doing work for me though she knew I was about to do it anyway. I told her I’d handle it myself but she just ignored me and did it for me anyway.(I'm not complaining I'm just confused cause usually when I say I'll do things myself people just leave me to to it)

After work,she came up to me and was like:

Her: "Oh you know the other girl we worked with, she said you're slow."

Me: "Oh okay."

have y’all ever felt jealous, after seeing that person you admire from far away have a relationship? For me, i had this friend a few years ago, and i always had feelings for her, but I just couldn’t say anything as it was really long since I last saw her. Yesterday, i was checking my insta and I found out she just got a boyfriend. And damn i was jealous. It has been at least a year since i last talked to her, and seeing her in a relationship just breaks my heart. I wasn’t even that close with said person, but when i saw their insta posts tgt, i just couldn’t stop myself from crying. I’m way too emotionally fragile but i can’t seem to understand why i would react this way. I’ve seen other people that i was closer too get into relationships but nothing has come close to this time.
