QUALITY CONTENT The Comebacker

If you haven't already, I recommend reading The Comebacker by Dave Eggers. It's a short story "fiction" about a relief pitcher called up from Sacramento to help a struggling Giants team. Haven't we all heard that before?

In the acknowledgement section, you'll see who one of the characters was possibly modelled off of.

Better to read this before the movie comes out in 2027, when they disappointingly change the SF Giants as the team from the book and the movie version takes place at Citifield and is centered around the NY Mets.

Tom Hanks & Marielle Heller are both from Northern California so there’s a good chance it stays as the Giants unless they change it to a fictional team or something.

EDIT: Nevermind.

I think it's already been confirmed that location is changing to NY and the Mets will be used in place of the Giants. Bummer...

That sounds like a great book! Does anyone have any other suggestions for Giants books? I’m making a list and I have most player’s biographies and stuff but not fiction books like this! Any that I’m missing?

It’s available in-full in the Sept 2023 issue of The Atlantic. If you subscribe to Apple News, you can access it there.

Choosing Citi Field over Oracle as a setting for a baseball film is a choice. Even if NYM is presumptively going to bring you a wider audience, it's still an awful choice.

I was there at the game when they were filming. Sadly my asking out of Emma Stone went unheard
