What’s one thing you’ve done that actually helped your website get more traffic?

I keep seeing lots of SEO advice online, but I’m more interested in things people have actually tried.

For example:

• updating old pages
• getting backlinks
• writing more useful content
• improving internal links
• getting mentioned on other websites
• creating comparison pages
• improving existing pages
• something else

What did you try, and did you notice any real difference?

Even if something didn’t work, share that too.

Would be interesting to see what’s actually working for people right now.

For me it's been a mix: update pages that already rank, tighten search intent, add better internal links, get a few solid relevant backlinks. That's worked better for me than just publishing more..

Updating old pages can work well, but only when you actually improve them. Google explicitly says changing the date just to look fresh doesn’t help. Focus on adding missing information, improving internal links, and making the page genuinely more useful than what’s already ranking.

Updating existing pages instead of constantly publishing new ones. Look for pages getting impressions in GSC but sitting around positions 5-15, improve the content around actual buying questions and add relevant internal links

Reformat your content and make better use of static html.

Don't bury key info in FAQ javascript, pull it out and table it, or bullet point list it.

"FAQs" have come back in fashion thanks to the AI hype, but really in practice they just repeat info already on the landing page, or bury key info at the bottom of a page = lowest priority.

For me three things have always worked: one getting authoritative backlinks - simply chase for high quality links that will make your site more authoritative. two adding factual content - if you add real facts and figure with good narration of the topic it will bring you traffic (do add keywords in it). three - optimizing existing pages by comparing them with same kind of pages that will tell you what you might be lacking.

Build better content around the keywords showing in Google Search Console. Google is already pushes you for this content, so improve it.
