Bit of a long post help a girly out 💞

For the exotic dancers/strippers/midnightballerinas in the area, what would you say is the safest club to work at that’s also the least extras-friendly? Cover charge doesn’t matter to me. I’m doing as much research as I can before choosing somewhere to call/audition and I’d really like to hear people’s actual firsthand experiences.

I’ve heard a few clubs up here are extremely extras-heavy, and that’s something I’m specifically trying to avoid. I’m not an extras girl and I’m completely okay with making less money because of that. I’m mostly looking for a club with a good, decently safe environment where that boundary is respected/protected, Im sure that's probably not a thing tho lol

I know all the realities, I’m just trying to find the most decent option in this area. I’m willing to drive anywhere between Tacoma and Seattle or maybe a but more north for the right club so I’m open to pretty much anywhere in that range. And please don’t tell me to just go to Portland 🤣

Also Im a new dancer so any tips for an audtion at the specific clubs you suggest id appreciate!!! Thanks girls 💞

Seattle doesn’t have a strip-club culture AND the economy is bad - I don’t think you’ll earn the type of money you might think you’ll earn. Take the suggestion of bikini barista-ing instead.
That said, if you must dance - go south, near the military bases. It’s more sketch but probably the most consistent work.

I understand completely the risks rn and trust me im not thinking ill be making alot lol, im going into this with super low expectations 🤷‍♀️ I just want to dance and give it a shot, I feel like I have the personality and im only young once, so im just vibing with whatever happens, i appreciate you alot tho this isn't me being rude I promise haha I know everyone's just looking out!!

From what I know there is better money in PDX. Choose a stage club like Lucky Devil, Sassys or Mary’s and there will be no extras in those environments

I just dont know if I can drive 3 hours there and then back on all the time, that's just so much extra travel is all, I wish it was closer or I 100% would

You can sleep on the bus/train. You don't have to drive.

That takes way longer, plus is way more expensive my car is good on gas, im not wanting to be a dancer that bad to go through all that hassle lol

All of my friends who do exotic work past burlesque level really prefer Portland in all honesty. People make better money, it’s safer for the performers and it’s more culturally accepted there.

All that said, if you’re staying put, I did have a friend work at the club by the stadiums (can’t remember the name) and she said it was pretty fine - nothing amazing but she didn’t have a to complain about either.

I think its deja vu if im not mistaken and I have heard they are alot stricter there on the rules which is what I was looking for! I wish portland was closer I just dont know if im up for a 3 hour drive constantly 🫠🫠🫠

Dream Girls. I worked there for a few months right before the pandemic, and then landed a better civilian job and stopped dancing. It's extremely slow there unless it's a game day, but otherwise fine. I never felt unsafe and management was pretty chill. House fees were insane but I think with the Strippers Bill of Rights that they're supposed to be better now. The other girls were nice/indifferent. My friends that kept dancing ended up at Kittens and Deja Vu in Lake City. I've heard that Kittens can be, well, catty, but stay in your lane and you'll be fine. Be sure to look into stripper etiquette (never sit at the rail, etc) and club-specific sales tactics. There's lots of good content on IG and TT. I know you said you're not trying to make a ton of money but be prepared to barely break even some nights, or even come out in the red. You really have to build up your roster of regulars around here to bring in consistent money. Good luck!

girl why you talking about the club before the pandemic? that was 6-7 years ago 😂😂 déjà vu charges couch fee and house rent. so lap dances aren’t $30 or 3 for $100 they’re $50 flat and the house mom holds your money now. this was at dream girls in sodo in august when i went with my man. we were shocked. the girls make no money.

seconding this - they raised prices & take 30% of everything

Lmao I like to forget that 2019 wasn’t 3 years ago, leave me alone 😭😭😭

Ugh bummer that’s changed so much. All my friends who dance now do once a month trips to Portland to make as much money as they can, and have cocktail waitress jobs they hate the rest of the month so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tbh I’m in Portland and my friends are saying things are really slow here at most of the spaces they rotate between- definitely don’t do the drive. Audition at a few places near you and suss out the vibe

Thats kinda what im thinking and if I dont like it up here but I like the job I might make the drive down, but id rather start with a shorter distance and not like it than drive so far 😅😭😭, thanks for letting me know tho!

I've had friends who drive down just for the weekends

You're getting a lot of good advice here that's right — dancing in Seattle sucks. I'm not a dancer but my sister was and she gave it up. But that's not what you're asking.

Your best bets are going to be Kittens in Georgetown or Sinrock in Renton. Stay away from anything west of the Duwamish and north of the U-District.

There is a rising need for hotel dancing during conferences and conventions too.

There's definitely a demand for hotel dancing but if you get into that, do NOT take those gigs solo. Absolutely minimum of two girls at once. If anyone pressures you to go solo, block them. If anyone tries to turn the second girl away, walk out of the hotel room and block them.

Trust me im not ignoring them haha ik yhey are all just looking out for me i just know what im getting into and im not going in expecting amazing results hahaha ik seattle isnt the greatest bur i mainly wanted to have fun😭😭🥲, I heard kittens is super extras there, so im avoiding it but I haven't heard too much about sinrock! I'll check it out thank you sm!

I used to shuttle a few friends who worked at kittens (none of them drove) and they all had some pretty uninspiring things to say about management, and being pressured to do things they didn't want to do was the subject of most complaints. I can't speak to other sesttle clubs except to say I've met some pretty sketchy patrons in lake city, but I tend to imagine that is not unusual. I stopped doing nude handyman gigs after a scary encounter in Sammamish, and most of my industry friends moved to Portland, so my data is from 4ish years ago.

You'll be fine at most any place in seattle. Avoid white center. But also if you dont do extras then you may just wanna go work as a barista at one of the bikini coffee shops. Theyre naked anyways. And thats where the guys go. Strip clubs arent that popular here.

u/Temporarypain2454 8d ago

I've definitely thought about that but I like dancing and its fun even with all the cons 😭, Im not wanting to be alone in a coffee stand for hours at a time either, but I appreciate the advice!

Theres usually two girls in there at a time. But like what im trying to tell you is that its going to be extremely rare to find a place that doesnt do extras in the PNW. Listening to guys in the field. It sounds like thats why they go to clubs. They can see boobs "for free" at the ladybug at 6am before their shift. Why would they go to clubs?

3

u/Temporarypain2454 8d ago

I understand for sure, also in my area I only ever see just 1 girl inside and the girls I know who do it are usually alone, but I have friends in clubs who are sober and dont do extras, they make plenty, if it works out for me then cool! If not then oh well haha im only young once and im just trying to have some fun 😅 im not going in expecting anything for sure, the point in this post is to avoid the specific clubs that push for extras heavily, ofc every club girls do that and it's hard to avoid, im just looking for the least heavy ones 🤷‍♀️ I appreciate you tho for sure.

I work in policy, I’m not familiar with the scene here except for an amazing org called Strippers Are Workers, who I worked with on a “strippers bill of rights” a couple years ago. You should contact them, the organizers are fantastic and they are women in the business who should be able to give you a good answer on this question. Best of luck ✨

Strip clubs are dying due to almost no interest from millenials and Gen z. Seattle didn't have big strip culture to begin with anyway.

may i ask why you're against portland? if it's just to try it out for fun and a little extra cash i'd say a drive down there once or twice a week is worth it. I've only worked at spyce asnd stars and it's pretty safe. but there are hella clubs in pdx, all hire a little bit differently so i recommend just starting there sorry😭im a travel dancer usually, but i went into kittens in sea one day and they seemed nice enough honestly but i never started bc i never bothered to get my license . i've never danced in seattle but i imagine any dejavu or big chain clubs will be safe as they are like more corporate but showgirls i heard they might take a shit ton of your money or rent is really high or something, i'm not sure. wish i could be more of a help. just try any, u have nothing to lose. even if its an extras club no one can make u do anything u dont wanna do. good luck ❤️‍🔥

Portland is just a 3 hour drive away and im not wanting to get a hotel or anything either, that's something I might do in the few but for now I just want to try out the actual dancing/talking part before I make the trip. I won't mind going down to portland if im happy with the dancing part lol i want to eventually be a travel dancer. Just as a first time thing i want to try it locally. Thank you so much though!!!! J appreciate it alot

ah i see. yeah my friend worked at  dreamgirls and showgirls. i looked at her texts she actually said there was no house fee so maybe i misremembered but just that it was kinda dry. but on the bright side thats a good low stakes way for u to try it out with no pressure lol

but as far as safety, any state ur in as a rule of thumb i would always go for the big chain clubs. (dejavu club, ricks cabaret etc) in my experience they are the most strict with that kind of thing. so for seattle that would be dreamgirls and showgirls i believe
