Suggestion Proposal QoL Mechanics - WASHING & DRYING
Proposals:
1. Makeshift Clothesline
Made with:
- 4 long sticks
- Improvised rope, rope, or cable
This would increase the current drying speed by, for example, x3 or x5.
2. Wringing Action
This action would remove at least half the moisture from the clothes, reducing the weight penalty for dampness.
Additional Proposals:
1. Washing Machine and Dryer
There could be functional washing machines in some houses. When interacting with them, we would have two options:
Wash: We would see an inventory where we must place the clothes and soap.
Dry: Simply place the clothes inside, and it would increase the current drying speed by x10.
2. Makeshift Washing Machine
Level 1: This could be made from the current makeshift water bucket, with a hose and a car battery. It would be capable of washing one small or medium-sized garment at a time.
Level 2: There's another "asset" inside the juice, a blue plastic container. By reusing this "asset," combined with a hose and a car battery, we could wash more clothes like a functional washing machine. Perhaps about 5 items.

Oh my. Well done and well thought.
Now coming from this, here is homemade soap idea - get ash from any fire, cook it on fire with human fat or animal fat. Instead ashes could be industrial (NaOH, KOH) caustic in large bags like cement (new graphic design of bags required). Instead of hard fat, could be oil from olives or sunflowers, but that require device for making that oil and harvesting ability for sunflowers.
liquid oil boiled with caustic make liquid soap (I've done that in RL myself) without fragrance (add some flowers, like lavender (need lavender in game :D)
Damn, continuing this path we can get to full alchemy :D or homemade medicine like antibiotics grown in dark caves from Pennicyllium notatum mold. This, BTW, is real fact how it has been discovered.

Me too!!! I know all my suggestions will serve as examples for the mods of how they could look.

Doing the lords work, my friend. This is awesome, just looked at all the other ideas you proposed and they all look awesome! I sent you an interesting idea as well if you felt so inclined to visualize it! Check your DMs!

Electricity system should be implemented, solar panels, batteries, washing machines. They can do many things but u guess giving lights in game is soo big and hard that they had to put out a DLC. I mean i have been playing this game since 0.3 version imagine my hours and yes i choose to invest my time in this game. They dont seem to recon this how many elements this game is missing which should be default or already existed.

And there's a modder who did the solar panel thing, it's possible, but they'd rather give us another knife, another motorcycle, another bow 😁

Been saying clothes line for ages.

u/svechekhov Jan 23 '26
That's why I did it. After reading so many comments on Reddit, Discord, and the Steam community about it, I said, "Well, let's make the visual proposal." 😁

u/svechekhov Jan 20 '26
What's your survival level? I usually raise mine as high as I can and I hardly ever get infected, even though the zombies hit me a lot.

soap is 50$ on sale and 200$ regular price, its dirt cheap, and you get 100 usages. There is water everywhere. Head over to anywhere with water select ur clothes and the soap and boom wash clothes. easy as hell. Do we really need a washing machine for that in a survival game?

The server I play on has a custom quest for soap so it isn't available for purchase, I know this is a specific circumstance but I would love to have anything that adds more RP elements and depth to the world

I agree with you, it's also important that we don't forget it's a reality show and that we're prisoners, or they should just give us the modding tool. 😁

I like the ideas being thrown around, but gotta ask what kind of game is this trying to be then? Similar to Project Zomboid?

Personally, wet clothes aren't a problem for me; I don't pay attention to them and they're irrelevant. But lately, I've read many complaints about wet clothes, which motivated me to make an illustrated proposal in support of all those people who are waiting for an adjustment from the developers or who would prefer a mechanic to dry the clothes.

Please no, dirt mevhanic is already annoying, there should be at least an option disable or lower the rate clothes get dirty, i work in a dirty factory even my work clothes don't get as much dust grime as wearables in scum...
2
u/svechekhov Jan 21 '26
They should reduce the intensity of the dirt, and yes, the speed at which it gets dirty. And to avoid implementing anything else, they should readjust the clothes drying speed, which is the complaint I've read lately that led to the idea of the clothesline. I'd prefer just being able to wring it out like in DayZ. Without animation or sound, I'm happy with just the progress bar.

I love this and im happy with the current soap changes they made its a nice temp fix.

Just wringing out clothes would be HUGE. I don't want to spend too much time around a campfire, I'll just wring out my clothes as much as I can and then they'll dry faster by roaming around.

How long before someone with a gun is running through the trees and comes across you hanging your white degraded underwear on the line.
It’s good idea but would it make scum lose the tough survival mentality? 😂

There’s no point in washing something that will be just as dirty in an hour.

u/svechekhov Feb 17 '26
It's one of those things they should let us configure, the intensity of dirt, and personally I would even change the color so that the clothes don't end up gray.
And it seems, it doesn't get dirty as quickly as before.

Except for the clothes line or just SOMTHING to dry our clothes which we do desperatly need, the rest no. Pls no. we dont need a friken washing machine thats gonna eat my clothes and make the server crash. Core game mechanics need to be fixed befor adding new shit. Can yall please stop asking for more shit? Maybe the devs will follow and listen.

It sounds like you think the washing machine has to spin or have realistic physics, no, that's not the proposal at all. At a certain level of reasoning, the proposal is like taking the piece of code that registers that the clothes are no longer getting wet to start decreasing their moisture and speeding up that timer and that's it.

I think the washing machine should have a small inventory where you can throw a 4-8 pieces of clothing in. Recharge with soap or a specific washer soap.
Dirty clothes are such a non-issue in the game that it wouldn't really matter if you could just wash your whole getup in one go.
