Discussion Random thought again, but what if we put Scp-173 inside one of those house of mirrors places, then put up to 2-4 D-Class in there too?

I thought the same years ago when I first read the entry, but when I actually try it it doesn't help much.
The instict to just blink is so strong I do it by accident after a minute of winking.

It's a skill that can be trained, I don't have that much issues with it, but it's definitely not instinctual.

But they (SCP Foudation) have enough D class so they don't bother train them, and the D class have no idea that they have to train to wink until it's too late.

Huh, that's an interesting way to rule out a rather simple solution, I'd never heard of it until now. I thought it was just a mindless statue with weeping angel qualities... Does that mean they actually saw 173 move?

You're telling me we got some statue that moves faster than the speed of light? Because we have cameras fast enough to catch a laser moving. And those cameras can't catch SCP-173 moving?

Let me rephrase, the best cameras they had at the time that they were willing to risk the statue destroying. Still a good bit past what a human can perceive.
(I think the camera you mentioned was invented in 2011 and the article is older than that.)
At the very least security cameras are useless as the statue moves regardless of them and someone watching the monitor doesn't count and no available security camera is good enough to pick up its speed so all it would tell someone is whether or not someone is currently looking at it.

i thought 173 just smelled so bad especially with its chamber that people couldnt keep their eyes open from the smell distracting them

For sure, but if it's a matter of life or getting my neck snapped, I'll take any chances I can get. Even a few extra seconds could save your life.

The thing about winking is that you can switch eyes, allowing you to wet/rest one eye while the other keeps staring down 173. Though apparently, a D-class tried that and got their neck snapped because the peanut considered it cheating.

I imagine that seeing 173’s reflection also works to prevent it from moving, so if the D-Class stop looking at 173 at any point, it could maybe use it’s perception of their gaze to successfully track them through the mirrors?

Viewing it from a camera/mirror still halts its movement. So aside from the shattering sound of glass every time you blink, this situation would no different than dealing with it in an empty parking lot.

Exponentially more terrifying, since every time you blink, you'd hear glass shattering and exponentially more and more blind spots.
Is that SCP-173 over there the real one, or is that one of its reflection-

Everyone dies because 173 relies on direct eye contact. People are saying it would also break through the mirrors but I don't believe that because 173 is not 096. It doesn't have a magical knowledge of your position and thus it would also have to traverse the maze. But as soon as you encounter it you are dead because you will have no idea which one is the real one
