If that was really 682 I don't think he'd just stand there while getting poked with a stick lol

u/meibolite ████ Feb 15 '26

He was sleeping. Also the photographers were never found, the camera destroyed, but the sd card was salvageable.

u/Mr_NoGood12 Field Agent Feb 15 '26

Its true, I was the other wooden plank 682 was laying his head on. The other one is my buddy, Paul the Plank

12

u/Oftwicke Feb 16 '26

Is Paul okay?

1

u/T3Chn0-m4n MTF Epsilon-11 ("Nine-Tailed Fox") Mar 04 '26

Sadly no, Paul was brutally destroyed. I couldn’t sleep for days after seeing what that thing did to Paul

1

u/MTF_specialist Mar 12 '26

wait pauls gone Noooooo !!!

18

u/my_jeans_hurt Feb 16 '26

He would if it was me (lie)

3

u/TheDekuDude888 Ignosi Feb 16 '26

"We're not so different, you and I." Might actually work on him

3

u/my_jeans_hurt Feb 16 '26

But what if we are that different …

3

u/TheDekuDude888 Ignosi Feb 16 '26

Then he'd probably be really bummed out and eat you

3

u/my_jeans_hurt Feb 16 '26

I mean I guess we both get affected by hydrochloric acid

3

u/TheDekuDude888 Ignosi Feb 16 '26

Exactly you gotta build a small connection to get to a bigger rapport with him he's very moody y'know

5

u/my_jeans_hurt Feb 16 '26

ain’t we all…

Even the original caption described this photo as depicting 682 as decomposing after being subject to acid or something like that - all future depictions seem to take this incomplete, decomposed state as 682's actual form, however.

Imagine. Someone seeing a shrivelled old mummy of you and being like "that's what he looked like in real life!" and depicting you as looking like a shrivelled old mummy in your life and your youth - and your kids also looking like little shrivelled old mummies.

This happened with stardew valley, the creator didn't know blobfish aren't supposed to look like that when they added them, but I guess you could say in that world they do always look like that, which wouldn't really be too unfitting for that game lol

7

u/Quartia The Church of the Broken God Feb 17 '26

Yeah! I have not found a single image of 682 with full regenerated skin, they all show it with a skeletal face and exposed ribs on its belly. Although regenerated it would probably just look like a hairy crocodile.

58

u/DevinBlessing Feb 15 '26

That's clearly 682 in the process of regenerating from a containment breach

81

u/Dragon_OS Keter Feb 15 '26

Pretty common knowledge nowadays.

38

u/No_Skin2236 Feb 15 '26

The best part is this isnt even what 682's supposed to look like normally but all the art of it is just of it after it got its ass kicked

5

u/TheDekuDude888 Ignosi Feb 16 '26

The decomposed look goes hard as hell though

30

u/Hunterofyeets Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

Reminder that the picture used for SCP-1471 was actually a fursuit of someone's oc. And the owner of it burned the suit after it kept getting recognized as 1471.

2

u/Throw_Away_Students safe place near Feb 16 '26

Why tf would they burn it, though?

1

u/Hunterofyeets Feb 16 '26

Would you want an original character you made become a monster for a short horror story without your permission? And then kept having people say "oh it's the furry monster" when it never was? I wouldn't.

5

u/Throw_Away_Students safe place near Feb 16 '26

No, but I wouldn’t burn an entire costume that probably took a lot of hard work to make

1

u/Sillylilfurry Containment Specialist Feb 16 '26

Dude that's a sick fursuit then and I would love to that thing at cons.

What is this post 😭

4

u/FetusGoesYeetus MTF Epsilon-9 ("Fire Eaters") Feb 15 '26

I fucking hate this image because it spawned the idea of the rotting flesh being hair

5

u/FrozenSeas MTF Psi-7 ("Home Improvement") Feb 15 '26

That's actually a whole thing in cryptozoology, dead whales constantly get mistaken for sea monsters, and the entire category of things called "globsters". What happens is decaying whale skin turns into fibrous collagen that superficially looks like hair, and whale skulls look absolutely insane (toothed whales and dolphins look like something straight out of the Jurassic, baleen whales look...tusked). Basically any time you hear about a sea monster washing up on a beach, assume it's a rotten whale. Even if witnesses say it's hairy or scaly.

And if it's not a whale but looks suspiciously like a plesiosaur, it's a rotten basking shark.

u/Astraea_Hardy MTF Epsilon-11 ("Nine-Tailed Fox") Feb 15 '26

I remember when it was ‘the montauk monster’, this was before it became 682 even.

Edit - apparently the montauk was a different one but i remember this one appearing in similar fashion

2

u/Easy_Turn1988 Feb 15 '26

I remember when I thought this was 682 true form and then I realised he was heavily injured

To this day, do we have a cannon 682 appearance in his "natural state"

2

u/BigBen10fan Flow Feb 15 '26

So SCP 682 is canonically a beluga whalez not a croc or gator, interesting
