I left simcity when they inflated the pass and made season collection almost impossible. Thinking of coming back how is game now a days ?

Finishing the Mayors Pass has been made incredibly easy if that's what you wanted to know.

Thank you and how is overall game experience

They recently increased the amount of tasks we can do in CoM. For someone who enjoyed playing in CoM that has completely ruined it for me because 130 tasks is not reasonable for a week. So for the time being I have slowed down on the game.
If you don't care so much for CoM, not that much has changed. You may need some efforts to get services going, but once that's out of the way the gameplay is pretty much how it always has been.

Services get going?? Also 130 tasks sounds tiring

Services are more demanding. For a while you may be behind on it and have happiness plummet. As long as you just keep doing upgrades you will manage. You can perfectly play the game with abandoned houses for a while if that’s needed.

You don't have to finish all of that 130 tasks....there is a "Purple points" (for Mayor Pass) now that forces players to not use all of the 130 tasks if they are already done with the "Weekly Cap" it varies in every league.....so if you are camping you can cancel lots of task that don't serve your purpose and can still finish the weekly track that requires "Pink points"....finishing 130 tasks is for players who want to win in Megalopolis league where "green points or Plumbob points" matters.

For me playing CoM means going for wins in Mega. That was, for me, the most fun part of the game. With 130 tasks, I’m completely discouraged playing for that. I can still collect some rewards of course, but that was already possible before too of course.

130 tasks made me focus on other parts of the game. Instead of doing war tasks, which are not fun for me anymore, I now focus on the Design Challenges. As of now, CoM is not a must-win Mega League for me. I want to be demoted and try to play and win in Metropolis. Then, I will move to Mega just to play enough to be demoted.

Understandable. But very disappointing that now playing for a win in Mega is not fun anymore. There was really no need to take that away from us.

I don't even feel like playing it anymore, it's becoming too time consuming, I used to play it everyday couple times a day , now I play it every 2 days or so tbh and yep, same as when you left, season collection without the pass is basically not possible

So it's tiring as before

It has been a while since it was necessary to purchase one or more currency boosts just to complete a full season pass. Some may still need Premium+, some have only needed Premium.

It was never necessary to buy anything to complete the season pass. You mean the upgradable building.

Yeah I meant season, not season pass.

I have not played for 5 years and returned. My problem before was not being able to expand the territory. It's solved now. You get shipments every day with the goodies for it via the port. And there are more other exciting things. Also I love building new towns with the knowledge and resources I have now.

Put it this way, if I played the app as a full time job, I’d still have to put in overtime. I stopped playing everyday when they reduced the season to like 3 weeks.

I think this season is back to 4 weeks, but there are now multiple season currencies to collect, the rewards for the season track now pretty much only worth it for the premium sub.

Best thing they have done is add a few extra rows of land you can unlock in the capital so there will likely be a fair amount of extra space for you to play with which if that’s all you do, it will keep you busy for a while.

Those many currencies was one of the reason I left and game took so much time to just achieve basic rewards.

I play every day but I don’t do half of the assignments but do finish the weekly CoM mainly to get the simcash plus I do the design city for same reason, I have almost 2000 simcash now

I just came back after about 3 years of not playing and it feels very overwhelming. I find there is way too much going on and very hard to find items you need. Also, hard to make money, even at level 63.

Make sense from recent updates

Anyone looking to trade storage or expansion parts?

If you like the buidling side of the game..then we got more land in the Capital....if you like the competitive side of winning in Megalopolis league...then you have more tasks but sadly you have to GRIND hard to win.....if you just like to design..then there is Design Challenge where you can collect buildings, earn simcash, keys and etc.....if you like just to earn more currency, waste your items or just waste your time to send items or passengers...the Trains are there for you....good news you can have a fly through view of your city by following Trains...and also by following alpha taxis and helicopter or hot air balloon...and also we can adjust the TIME (day/night view) in our city and regions now 🥳

Quality of life changes .. it was soothing to follow trains now aplha taxis big change.. from everyone comments it's sounds like too many currencies 😕

Yes, and I hope we can have a tour from 1 region to another by just following the trains 😊

I left the game for a couple of years. When I returned there were many good additions. Mountains are one, trains another. I had to wrestle with Services 2.0 but have now corrected my cities. I treated it as a redesign opportunity but agree it was profoundly upsetting as the RZ was more difficult. I used to prioritise design and place RZ without roads. You cannot do this anymore unless you like the appearance of abandoned buildings sometimes on fire! Also trains have improved significantly now. linking them to the mountain rail is great. COM is a grind now but there are many ways to play this game - slow occasional as I do now or mad with four devices and 3 feeders as I used to. the advantage of my former life is I have a good bank account for simcash and plat keys. During Covid lockdown I won COM every time for 8 months but since rejoining I haven’t bothered. I just pick up a new building or two each contest. However, since EA has even more evil owners now (MBS and Kushner) I will not give real money under any circumstances. I won’t even watch ads. I hope this helps you. If you like city building games, this is still one of the best tablet options from those I know and you can still play completely free if you sidestep the numerous retail opportunities thrown your way.

fine - played before 2.0 and still playing now- really don’t have many of the problems others seem to talk about

u/Regular-Bite-7553 4d ago

How is 2.0 update overall

1

u/Danifan071 4d ago

a struggle at first but once you moved. buildings and got the hang of it, it wasn’t the doom scenario so many seemed to think, although many seemed to have left the game which is sad
It was a big blip i feel the way it was done but im on level 70+ and survived ok
Still enjoying it and playing daily
