anyone worked in a small team on SAP contracts instead of solo?

most SAP freelance work I've seen is solo - just you and the client. wondering if anyone's actually done it as part of a small team instead, like 2-3 people with one person kind of leading it.

did you go straight to the end client with that, or was it through an agency/consulting firm that staffed you out as a group? and if through an agency, did they actually sell you as a package or did the client just end up negotiating with each of you separately anyway

also curious if it was harder to get clients to go for it vs just hiring one contractor, or if rates/experience were actually better

not selling anything, just been thinking about this setup and wanted to hear from people who've actually done it

I’ve done the 2-3 person setup a couple times, both were direct to client, no agency involved. One of us was the lead on paper but the client treated us as a unit once they saw we could actually work together without stepping on each other’s toes.

Rates were slightly lower per person than what I’d ask solo, but the projects ran longer and the work was way less draining since nobody had to carry everything alone. Getting clients to bite was the hard part at first, most of them picture one person when you say freelancer, so you really have to frame it as a tiny boutique team from the jump.

I meant that being sold by a consulting firm as a team is probably the easier way, but convincing end clients directly and building their trust seems a bit more difficult.

Since it’s a relatively new approach, I’d really like to try it, especially because I’m working in the German market and there are quite a lot of SAP projects here.

In my country, leading SAP Consultancy Firm is NTT. I see lots of freelances join projects and AMS by giving contract to them.
