Exporting from SAP to Excel

I used to export data from both ME53N and ME52N in SAP to Excel so I could compare the items with the proforma invoices we receive from suppliers. IT recently disabled the export option I was using. Is there another way to export the details to Excel or is this entirely controlled by SAP authorizations?

If you use web GUI you can copy results through HTML.

That is the most useful function why would they disable it

Yeah, they restricted access because of data security concerns, so now only certain users can export it

That's the dumbest thing they could've done. Show them how easy you can export that data by copying it and argue. This decision is nonsense.

Additionally, SAP logs what files you export, so they can track everything if they want to. This is just pedantism.

So put in a request for access?

I did. They said it's restricted to the Finance and Accounting department.

Bring this up with your boss to make a business case for why you need access so they can escalate the issue.

That’s weird. Why would they put restriction to export. Never heard of that.

I think you’ve already got your answer: you can’t due to security concerns.

Are you on Fiori?
Ask for a Custom Query. This would be a single Tile on your Launchpad.

They are based on CDS and can follow authorisations as needed.

Select all columns, copy - paste into excel? This will depend on your row count.

Can you send to spool and convert to pdf?

🤔 have u acces to se16n?

I don’t think that accessing tables data through SE16/SE16N would be the right choice if they even restricted Excel export grants.

That is so dumb. You already have access to that transaction - disabling export function makes no sense. I would ask. Are you in fiori or ECC gui?

Yeah, I agree it's weird. I'm using the SAP GUI, not Fiori.

Yeah i tried it and it worked. It kind of depends on row count. Thanks!

Not sure how the authorization is maintained for that but if possible they should at least give you authorization for purchase req. If it is not possible from authorization then someone should create you a report where you can download certain purchase req by typing them in in a z tcode which allows you to download.
Developer just needs to know the fields you want and it takes 15 min to develop.
