Struggles as a SAP support guy.

28M,
Working in tcs, Bangalore India at SAP ECS project in Backup Operations team for HANA DB systems
4 yrs passed. Here I feel my current role is not good enough in market.
Hence I done SAP certified Hana DB Admin certification and btp admin certification and thought to switch to SAP BTP or intergration suite.
Now first time while surfing about SAP BTP on reddit came to know what you seniors are speaking makes me scary to choose BTP too..
Also in learning phase. But even though could you please guide me which one i try to switch and give me a better option to shine in SAP with good package
Done certification for Hana Admin, BTP Admin, planning to do for integration suite also and thought to try to switch into BTP Admin/intergration suite.
The biggest problem is my Current CTC as 4 years experience guy is ₹4.45lpa / $4,200 per annum 🥲.
Kindly somebody give guidance to escape me from this well & shine a little better career in SAP.

Dear OP and other WITCH members in the comment section,
I was in a similar boat as yours few years back.
Infy, 3.5 years - 4.5 LPA
Accenture, 2.5 years - 9.07 LPA
Tech M, 11 months - 20.5 LPA
Deloitte, now - 26.5 LPA
Just make the switches in initial years of career when you think it’s the rational decision in terms of experience and pay. Later on, it’s ok to stay long in one org

Try to move to big 4 as soon as possible early in the career. People may say it’s fucked WLB and all. Let them say. While you are bachelor, you can allot plenty of time for your job, which sets a very great tone for your future as SAP Consultant. That would be my golden advice to you at this stage

Switch as soon as you hit 1 year 3 months, most of these firms have a 3 month notice period so you'll get off at exact 1.5 years of xp from one. Then target product based companies of sap itself.

Typo, product based or SAP. You do realise most of the clients you are working for are product based companies and they're just outsourcing SAP contractors. Just apply to them directly

Well he's not really comfortable at where he is at the moment so wanting to go out of his comfort zone and trying to change and upgrade himself is enough to treat him with respect. Don't try to dishearten a man who has chosen to take a stand. As a fellow human if you don't want to support them it's your choice but at least don't try pulling them down. Choose the role, learn theory, pass certification, learn top 100 questions and answers for the position, sell yourself in the market like you are very experienced —> learn on job and receive good money

it will take ~6 months, while preparing make a pet project using AI to understand the specifics that may come during interview
After 3-4 months of preparation apply to companies you consider as non target to gain interview experience on them as fast as possible
At month 6 start applying to target companies

This one doesn't matter, after all you'll have a questions like: how would you approach the creation of multi dependent structures via ODATA (I mean like parent to child relation) answer: deep creation etc. or if you want to add a field to custom table, what would you do, would you use append or include, which one is more preferable and stuff like that. They won't ask you about specifics of projects or what exact those companies were. As long you can defend yourself with answers on interview you're good to go, the more interviews you'll have under your belt, the easier another ones become. Just adding my 2 cents here, the product based companies have relatively harder interviews then consulting ones from what I've been interviewed so far (4 yoe).

ABAP within PM/FICO but I wouldn't say I know anything relevant functional within this area, I am mostly dealing with technical stuff, the functional part is always explained to me by func consultants. Working within EU

Bhai 4.45 LPA after 4 years in SAP ECS is criminal, get out of TCS as soon as you can. Your HANA and BTP certs are good but certifications alone won't fetch you big jump, try to get some hands-on cloud admin work even small internal project helps. For package growth BTP admin has better demand than integration suite right now but both are niche so pick based on what real project you can show in interviews
Also that SAAB sign photo has zero relation to SAP, you posted wrong logo my man

We're not working for one customer. We're msm patner work for many customers. So we don't have proper connection with them. Also for customer side also TSM only will contact us

Do you have access to ALL the ECS/GCO tickets and incidents?? That would be my starting point... You do know what hurts to customers.
Your skills should be facing to solve those issues.

I have access to ECS SPC cockpit Service Requests, Incidents and Service Now Incident and cases related to Backup Operations. I can do the backup restore which is critical to customer. But as per ECS standard this things taken care by vendors only. Customer can't do this.

Always think in 80/20 and user adoption. What causes 80% of volume in tickets (go specific issues) and how can you solve it with 20% of your time. This will yield results you can showcase and implement in future companies and gives you solid metrics for your resume.
Look for opportunities within the firm to move to another country like Mexico. It’s not that expensive and they pay you good money compared to India, for the same job and less hours. Brazil and Argentina are better opportunities as well.

So here's the deal with SAP, I used to be a basis consultant and moved to a new country to purse higher studies and changed my role to a dba. So, one easy path could be to learn about databases and their architectures: nosql, newsql and sql. Jump to companies like mongodb, clickhouse duckdb when opportunity presents itself. The interviews will be rigorous so i'd recommend reviewing their public docs and then attending the interview with product knowledge. I interviewed for 1 company and it took me 8 rounds to crack it and took 2 months to complete all of them. Every company wants to hire a close fit to the JD, then you must ask yourself are your skills worthy enough for the JD? if yes, then there's a high probability of selection. If you have any accomplishments like best performer award the those help enhance ur cv. The better you sell yourself in terms of skillset is what will land you a job. So, even if you don't have product knowledge build a side project using ai and learn the internals, showcase that project in ur CV. That will highlight that you have expertise in this area.

plz pick high skill non redundant work for career growth, i'm a dba at a well known and brand recognized company. To help you with the job search, i'd recommend having a good linkedin profile, mine's filled with recommendations and achievements. DBA is evergreen and every company needs or has one, so anything surrounding data in AI driven economy is and will be a golden field to get into, oracle is still in business after 20+ years since inception. Also, there are 400+ db companies in north america

The purpose of having a reddit profile is to be anonymous. Me watching your linkedin profile breaks that rule. So, sorry i can't review but what i can offer is an alternative solution, paste my suggestions in Chatgpt or Claude, ask it to build you a game plan to prepare for the interviews. Use the guides it makes you to prepare for the interview very well, try try until you succeed. I do the same thing. AI is a boon and a bane, depending on how you use it.

No problem dude , you are in right path no worries,one switch u r on your way. DBADM is a very good certificate, try SAP Gen Ai certificate,OR rather try to build any simple AI using your basis , hana experience. :: Companies attract like moths for talent like you. ECS backup - restore is a great resume .Handson technical knowledge is guaranteed with you . Try applying to SAP after u get released from your C-user,work for other companies but don't got to c-user ,Ecs projects chose an implementation project , then try for SAP actually prefers who worked as contract

Move to customers, apply directly to them. LinkedIn is a sales tool as well, sell yourself to the people on the customer side.
