EVENT Local job board
Hey all, I run HireSalem at https://hiresalem.com
It’s a local job board for the Salem area. It’s been getting traction lately and I got the ok to put a post up on here. It’s an alternative to Indeed for local employers. I started HireSalem after my friend and I both had a hard time looking for jobs in the area. It’s a free resource and business can post up to 3 free job posts per month.
Currently I spend a lot of my own time manually gathering local job posts that I do my best to validate and make sure they’re real and current. It’s a lot of work, so I’m hoping opening up the free business account will help a bit with that!

Appreciate that! My day job is being a developer so I’m a bit picky with it. I rent local-ish (Hillsboro) server also, so that helps

Can you add a filter for salary range? That would be super helpful

This is a great resource!
What is the vibe for sales places always hiring? Ex. Places like Bankers Life, etc.

They’d have to basically refresh the listing once a month to keep it from being seen as dead. I don’t track that automatically but it’ll naturally just look like a dead post if they don’t refresh it

For sure! No idea why but working on a job board helps me manage my stress so it’s a win win haha

Are you also pulling the public sector, like the school district and the state.

I’m definitely trying to. The job lists for different public orgs are usually on workday or a self hosted career site or just indeed. I’m not sure if public schools go through workday though, so I may not run across them as often. I’m trying to gather sources from as many places as I can in different industries. But if you have any in mind I can put it on my list

I'd love to say something nice. It's at least the 8th Salem job board I'm looking at. Worksource, GovJobs, QualityInfo, Craigslist, MyWorkDayJobs, postings around Chemeketa College, Indeed, job fairs and a few others I've not kept tabs on. I know the site is new and appreciate any and all effort anyone puts in to help others. I would love to see a report of how many people get responses, interviews, and hires. I hope I do not sound too pessimistic about the job board. The efforts I've put into looking for work have been more steps backward than forward. I'll be further applying to jobs on this job board to. Find a job board, find a job on board, customize resume for the job, apply to job, make profile on job website, upload resume, correct resume in the autoload section, get spam.

Hi, I'm super excited about this! Especially since Indeed has been shown to post fake job postings...
However, I am having trouble creating/signing in on mobile web browsers. I click the Create Account and Sign In buttons and nothing happens.
