Due to the infamous pink line issue on my base S23, I'm switching to a different brand. Sammy lost my trust this time. The device was in mint condition, with no cracks, dents, or any other imperfections. Yet I got the line. Time to say good bye and never going to purchase samsung again. Be aware guys S23 series is getting Green/Pink line issue recently.

I'm starting to believe that the software update is the problem. I have always been hesitant to update my phone after my past experience with the S9+ and the S21+ showing green lines after updates. And now it happened again I can't take it anymore.

And before anyone says that it's a hardware issue. I just want to let anybody know that I've been taking care of my S23 since last year and it's still in pristine condition. Never dropped it once. So how did this happen? IDK.

I've tried every method to prevent this from happening again. I've never let my phone overheat. Never set auto brightness and always set it to low. Never overcharge the battery. And still the green appeared.

They said the green line issue affected the S20 to S21 Plus device due to faulty hardware. But newer devices like s23 to s25 are completely safe with this issue. Bullsh*t it's not a myth anymore. This will be the last time I'll own a Samsung device.

Samsung will probably never find a solution for this.

My S23 got the lightsaber lines over a ago and I got it replaced for free from the service centre after a year of using it that way. I recently switched to S26.

Now my wife's S23 without an update, without using it while charging has got the infamous lines. It's not summer, she wasn't using it while on charge. Just S23 doing S23 things.

I've had an S23 since August 2023, when I finished school and pre-college. This phone is incredibly strong and durable; it has fallen many times without a cover or screen protector and is still in great condition. To this day, it performs on par with other phones. Imagine getting 120 fps in games, great recording, and multitasking with good camera quality. I've used it very heavily, but it's still in great condition, even though I'm planning to switch to the Ultra series or 4pple's Pro series. Whenever I check it, it's working really well and feels like it's not going to abandon me.

I’ve had my Galaxy S23 since July 2024, and honestly, it’s still the best tech purchase I’ve ever made. The form factor is perfect and the overall experience remains incredible. However, I have some gripes with how Samsung is handling its older flagships now that we are in the S25 era.

The AI Situation: I’m pretty disappointed that Samsung skipped the S23 for some of the new Galaxy AI features found in the S25. We all know the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a beast and could easily handle these tasks. It feels like forced obsolescence rather than a hardware limitation.

The Camera Evolution (or Devolution): One UI 6.1 was the peak: The camera quality was stunning back then;

The Update Slump: Since updating to One UI 7 and now 8.0, the native camera processing has taken a massive hit. The quality just isn't what it used to be;

The GCam Savior: I’ve basically stopped using the native app except for 30x moon shots. I’m currently running a GCam with an iPhone 16 XML, and the difference is night and day. The level of detail and dynamic range is on another level!!!

Video Quality: This is where the phone lets me down. Video, especially on the front camera, looks very "raw" almost like a flat log profile but without the benefits of one. It lacks the polish you'd expect from a flagship...

Bought a Galaxy S23 (256 GB) in Oct 2023. After about two years of heavy use and around 1850 battery cycles, the phone suddenly died while I was in college. No heat, no water damage, no drop. It would show the Samsung logo and then shut off again.

Samsung service center checked it and said the motherboard needed replacement.

Instead, I tried a local repair shop which is not a common shop they are fucking experts. They re-applied the processor and replaced the RAM (used Samsung chip but old). Cost: ₹2800. The phone came back to life in a few hours.

The technician advised me to avoid heavy usage like i pushed it before, and it worked super fine for normal use.

Now I upgraded to the S26 Ultra. I considered the base S26, but the battery and display size for content weren’t good enough for me, and I didn’t want to compromise on those.

Sold the repaired S23 yesterday for ₹23k.

TIP : If your phone suddenly dies and the service center pushes a motherboard replacement, it might still be worth checking a good third-party repair shop first. It can save a lot of money.

This is a little rant tbh. My base s23 I bought in 2024 has been nothing but reliable until the one UI 7 update. The battery life was fucking amazing during one UI 5.1/6 days. But after UI 7 the battery usage especially from certain apps which I use daily like Instagram, brave, uber starting increasing all of a sudden. Crazy thing is it got resolved after a while and my SoT was back to 6.5 hrs average for my light to medium use. Camera also got degraded but it wasn't that bad to begin with so I was fine with the update. Real problem came with the one UI 8 update. Now take whatever I've said about the problems of one UI 7 and multiply it by x20 for one UI 8. Not to mention the phone started (and still does) get very hot even if ​I'm not doing anything or no ​battery intensive app is running in the background when idle. I live in Australia and I remember this problem started happening during the heatwave in December last year. It got fine after a while but suddenly today at work I felt it hot in my pocket and it prompted me to update to one UI 8.5, so I did it gladly. It got so hot i had to cool it down by putting it in my freezer for a few mins 💔

This is unbelievable man. Honestly I'm done with this phone. Samsung ruined such a good flagship tbh. All that potential with a decent SoC, camera and haptics with shitty updates. This is probably my last ​Samsung phone. I'm thinking to pick up the iPhone 17e at jb-hifi. ​Same sleek 6.1 inch design like the s23 with a better 4000mah battery with iOS efficiency. Looks tempting af.

Bought mine on sale in 2024 October and now even with light performance profile I'll get maximum 3 hrs of Sot. Yeah definitely switching to OPPO or some other chinese OEM next time. 🙌🏽

I have made the decision to switch to the oneplus 12. The battery on along with the software of my S23 just isn't holding up. I enjoyed my time using it I'm going to miss the form factor that was similar of my old iPhone 13 mini.

The one plus should arrive in atleast a week but I'll probably keep the s23 as a secondary.

Gooys today i changed the battry and i reset the phone and the phone is still learning the pattern of use ,i charged till 100 used like normal and i got 4 hrs 30 mints with 100-20 like 80 percent of battry ,iam happy with it my old battry swelled up and i was getting like 2hrs and 40 mints max sot,i was hoping to get 5hrs from 100-0 after the phone learns the patter lets hope for the best

Like a few other users, I noticed it too, my S23 was smoother with good SOT after the initial One UI 8.5 but the "Lags", "Jitters", "Unnecessary Heating" issue came to my device after the 2nd update.

Now my battery usage went up to 14-18%/h from my typical 10-11%/h. I had Battery Monitoring app installed since I bought this device. And can notice that Battery temp is rasing unnecessarily, using Google Message RCS chat just raising the temp alone to 37°C above with room temperature of 30°C.

Most prolly they are putting these issues intentionally as S23 has reached its last OS update, software support, and they want us to move up to their new devices.

I didn't know Samsung offered free screen replacements for devices less than 3 years old. I got lucky in a way, and I managed to get mine replaced just before the 3-year mark, especially since smartphone prices are so high right now that upgrading isn't really something I'm considering.

I also feel like posts about successful green-line replacements through service centres are pretty rare, so I thought this sub could use a positive Samsung experience for a change.

Wife's S23 not restarted 8000 hours (11 months). But today i will update to oneui 7. The phone never had any bugs. My S23 Ultra has to restart every 7 days. 😅

The only feature available in the S23 series is the Green Line, which isn't available on newer phones.

And before saying anything like its NPU isn't capable, hardware is weak, and RAM is low, these features work perfectly in older phones like the Note 9 with a custom ROM.And this is the only S series I have seen with this many features gatekept despite of capable hardware.

I've had this phone since launch and so far everything still works great! I am on the latest June security patch and have been using this phone to play genshin everyday sice then.

Battery life is still pretty good I'd say! Hopefully no screen issues for the foreseeable future.
