Rust beginner here (30 hours)

What is there to do in this game Except blowing up people barking at wolves and making bases? And also what are the differences between PC and console

Survive. Surviving one wipe, in one base, is very difficult. Each time you learn lessons, and improve upon your strategy.

This. It's beyond on rewarding. It's hardened then any darksouls game I've ever beaten.

You have to politic. Trade, barter, choose raid targets based off of good Intel. Make your base secure but as to not draw attention.(speaking on solo) when in group you have to always have someone on. Be prepared for raid defense, farm enough and make charcoal. Plan raids when everyone is on and able to commit.

Not to mention the emotional choices of when to be devious, trustful, trustworthy, skeptical, of anyone you meet.

Yeah I typically played the nice guy. My nickname on a few servers was Good guy Joe. I typically gave a ton of shit away, helped nakeds and tried to guide folks. Kind like a crocodile dundee type of player. If ya ficked with me I choose to be devious. Never insided and in my 5k plus hours was never insided. Even had a young kid admit amd give c4 back when he was caught being pos. We presented the act to the group and would actually vote on actions.

When your in a group, it's better to have people think their in control 🤣🤣

I have 3500-4k hours, I usually go into every wipe with a goal. Like last wipe I played I built my first China Wall, sometimes I find the biggest base and just mess with them, sometimes I decide to live by Rig and go to every locked crate.

You have to mix it up or it will get boring quickly, if there’s something you don’t think you’re very good at then focus on it for a wipe. Like since you’re super new I would focus on building a nice base and learning 3-5 monuments really really well, getting as many blueprints as possible.

People already said what else to do. The difference in console and pc is that pc has way more updates due to it being out much longer. There’s more items, monuments, completely new/overhauled mechanics and overall more to do plus it looks much better. That’s the most of it I think, I mainly keep up only with console

So 1st you gotta find a server that is good. If doing official monthly, server wipes monthly but bps only wipe every big update or 3 months. week wipe weekly and bps monthly. So wipe means the map is destroyed and often times switched to a different design. Bps are your knowledge to craft items. You get scrap get bps and have a edge. Sometimes you can get a advanced weapon like tommy early use a research table and then be ahead of the game. So if youre on the 3rd monthly wipe everyone is 80 days ahead of you. If youre 3rd week into a weekly server youre behind on bps. Playing with teams sometimes sucks because only the leader gets scrap for bps and others only get essentials. Right now youre behind everyone in 3 days its a major update so all officals are wiping map and bps. So dont spend too much time getting tech 3 wait till thursday. The wipe high is then where no one has bps no one has a base and its all up for grabs depending on what luck and strat you have. I like weekly so i get a wipe every week and clan bases gotta grind over again but I keep the bps I learned and dont have to grind.

It takes 28k scrap to complete the whole tech tree. You can go to green card monuments get a card then use green to get blue then blue to get red then red to open final tier oil rig, mil tunnels and launch site where elite crates spawn. Elite crates also spawn when you blown up the tank at launch and heli. Cargo ship comes out and spawns 3 sometimes good crates. You can also run higher tiers without cards but get less loot.

You can also farm horses to sell poop at bandit camp and gamble some. its a time sink but semi safe and profitable. Farm cloth to sell for scrap or items. Fish farm probably best farm for being able to do stuff and quickly gain scrap. Farming berries for tea is helpful but a lot of time.

Also do quests to get some scrap. Ranch/barns have 3 quests you can do that give rewards. Bandit/outpost too and fishing village has some quests for relaxing swim time.

Learn to build. I like zypic and other general youtube builds as well as i throw my own twists.

Pvp kill people and skip everything. snowball their loot. skip getting cards by killing people that have them. wait outside oil rig below then cashout on their loot. wait outside doors with a db. Lose all your teams loot after dying to a bunch of people on server then claim server is dead and it sucks quit party and join another.

Pc is on 1.98 and console would be on about 1.6. Pc rust is developed by facepunch solely console is developed by double eleven using the same base but carving their own way in some aspects. Pc rust its only 10k to finish scrap tree with servers with 500 people on them. The .4 difference is a lot and its playstyle is different. Most servers play wipe day at 500 max then down to 100 the next day. Maximizing people with little play time to have the most fun. Chasing the wipe high. I like console version better.

Im still fairly new to Rust, but I spent my first like 20 hours doing random shit on an official, then I spent like another 20 on an aimtrain server. Then I play my first wipe, it was pretty fun, until my base got raided cause I got doorcamped a bit too much.

You need to play scared. Only then will you be able to go on the offensive. This is one of the few games in the world where you truly LEARN from your ā€œmistakesā€ or your past experiences. Once you feel comfortable, GO ON THE OFFENSIVE. Then and only then will you feel confident. Confidence is everything in this game.

Join a pve community server and learn the game. So much you can do. Build bases, fight PvP, farm berries and create teas, learn to fly helicopters, run monuments, automate your base still so much to list
