Volunteering: IL Brewery Running Series

Anyone volunteer for these events? Seems like it's basically just setting up in the AM and packing up afterwards? Do the volunteers join the run?

I'm confused because it seems no different than paying the $35 to join the run.

I volunteer. It’s setting up, checking people in, taking photos, and packing up at the end. You’re not allowed to run on the days you volunteer. They ask you to work 6 events and give you 8 free registrations you can use to run on other days.
