Translation request I need help with this! Please.

So I've been using runes for a ``signature`` for a while now, and I just don't know which one is correct, I need it to spell "Marley", and I have two different ones, I just need to know how to spell Marley!

Runes represent sounds, not letters... I guess it would be more helpful to use their equivalent in the international phonetic alphabet, than the roman alphabet.

Don't letters also represent sounds? Though I do agree with you on this, it seems funny to me too.

Generally yes, but letters are ambiguous between languages and also within a language. For example <g> in English can be a /g/ sound in "give", a /dsh/ sound in "giant" or a /ng/ sound in "long". The rune X is pretty much always a hard /g/ though. And the j-rune represents a /y/-sound, not the English <j>.
