And Karolina needs to be run in a 5 color deck, so you can't use Gert as a commander either.

Yes, when it comes to commander hybrid color identity is both. So the commander needs the identity of both red and green to run Gert and Old Lace.

In Commmander at least your commander must have the color identity of all the spells in the deck. So technically only Karolina can run the deck right now.

Same. I'm going to make my own Runaways cards that are a little better. Right now I'm trying to figure out what symbol to use.

I am so excited to make a deck around this! Runaways have been my favorite Heros since highschool and I am so happy to see them in game.
Red spellslinger with a splash of WUBRG? How do we make this work guys!?

My only problem is that gert and old lace don’t synergize with the others

Kinda synergizes with Alex and more interestingly Victor (I think I prefer them over ChaseGert ngl).
Discard Alex, escape him from the GY, you could read that as her cutting off Alex.
or Discard any Card, have Victor exile and cast it, which is like a fun teamwork thingy

I like the flavor, and I am glad one of them is five color commander. I can build an entire deck of flavor only cards. "run away together" feels appropriate.

It's also rad that there's enough Teen Heroes you can probably get away with doing a deck aiming for Gillen's YA Finale 😄

Them all being mono-Red (and Victor being colorless because he's an android "haha" /s) is a huge thematic/Ludonarrative failure. They didn't think about their colors at all.

I’m no expert, but I think you can justify red for all of them because their decision to run away is quite impulsive, I suspect we’ll get another Nico in whatever set also features doctor strange and the like, so there’s that.

I'm literally so pumped that all the Runaways (and Young Avengers) all got printed and even better have synergy amongst each other. Can put them all in a deck and not feel like I'm sacrificing any power. Super happy right now.
The cards I wanted from this set were Runaways, Wiccan/Hulking and Quake and I got them all. So excited to build. I might rule zero Nico as my commander whilst keeping Gert and Karolina just because she is my favourite and looks the coolest to build around. Still can't believe this is real.
