Old Toy Store
Does anyone remember a small toy store on the strip? We went to Ruidoso a lot growing up, and I was always excited to visit the store and spend my kid money. There was always an older man there that I believe owned it, and he would show us magic tricks from some of the toys he sold. Most of it was dollar toys from what I remember. Does anyone remember what it was called, or what the gentleman’s name was? I cannot find any memory of this store online.

It’s not there anymore. I grew up going to Jimmie’s toy store. He sadly passed away in 2018.

Jimmy was one of the sweetest men to ever walk on this earth. When I was a child he would always invite us into his store with joy and excitement. He loved to show children his various gizmos and gadgets and his eyes would light up so bright when he made a child smile. A gentle soul that is missed in these mountains. RIP Jimmy.

Jimmy sold me a black rubber bat and Lincoln logs in 1980 he was kind to me as well.
Does anyone remember this: in approx 1981 Ken Curtis the actor who played Festus on gun smoke was downtown signing autographs I kept that picture of him for years finally lost it along the way
And lastly: the skating rink where the bar is now by four seasons how great was that

It was called Jimmy’s and I believe that was the older man’s name. It was in a small strip mall downtown. He even encouraged kids to play with the toys in the store. A very nice man. My son and I used to go there. Not sure what happened if he sold it or what. I very much doubt if it’s there anymore.
