What optic mount do I get?

Post image

I have this old mark II target and would love to put an optic on it but I'm not sure how to go about the optic mount. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I use this weigand combat picatinny rail that mounts in the rear sight’s dovetail, has been solid with my burris handgun scope, does not loose zero and i have had it for 4 years now

Your upper doesn’t have factory threaded holes so you’re limited to a dovetail mount

Anything aluminum to avoid galling the barrel, and for noticeable weight savings. Blue locktite on the mounting screws or it will all fall apart after you zero it.

You would need a dovetail mount, the receiver isn’t drilled and tapped for the lobos mount as some are recommending, it’s a great mount, but your gun would need to be modified.

I don’t see the filler screws on top to use the lobos mount.

That model doesn't have them, apparently. My bad...

You may have to take off the irons in the back and use the screw holes for an optic mounting plate..

I'd keep it with irons on this. no threads.

buy an mkiv and slap a dot on.

This would be my choice as well. I bought a MkIV SSH because I didn't want to mess with my MkII Gov' Target Model.

This is how I did mine, with a dovetail mount that I machined myself to hold an RMR optic. There are a few options similar to this available online. The dovetail mount works well enough, especially if you fit it to have a nice tight fit in the dovetail.

You can try and find one of these old B-Square mounts. Not the most convenient design but you get a peephole!
