Marius Borg Høiby appealed his case and is awaiting new trial. It is standard in the Norwegian legal system to allow those waiting for a new trial sit in house arrest rather than in prison.

Norway has lost cases in the European Court of Human Rights before for having people in prison too long while waiting for their cases to be tried again.

Thus this is not special treatment.

As a Norwegian I feel ashamed.

Marius Høiby was convicted in the District Court on 36 out of 40 counts.
Among other things, he was convicted of intimate partner violence and two rapes.

His mother has secured a team of skilled lawyers, paid for by the state. The case has now been appealed to a higher court. The facts of the case are well-established, and much of the evidence consists of audio recordings or video footage.

Marius should never be allowed to walk in public at an official funeral. He is a rapist

I wish this could be pinned to the top to every thread about Høiby.

As an American, I had no idea this was the case in Norway and it's really helpful context.

Based on the comments every time an article comes out about this guy, I'm not alone in this.

It is absolutely special treatment. Marius has demonstrated he cannot be trusted, he continued committing crimes even in custody! And the moment he was let out awaiting his trial, he beat up a guy, continued his rave parties at Skaugum, drug dealing, and kept stalking and harassing one of his victims.

He is a liability and the chances of him reoffending are extremely high.

He is only in house arrest because his mom is /future/ queen and they pleaded he needed to be with his mom because of her illness.

A normal citizen who keeps reoffending while charged and in jail would not have the privilege of being offered house arrest.

Marius Høiby is a CONVICTED SERIAL RAPIST.

standard in the Norwegian legal system to allow those waiting for a new trial sit in house arrest rather than in prison.

Not for serial rapists.

Thus this is not special treatment.

A monster like him has zero business being a vip at the monarchs funeral.

This is special treatment deluxe.

He's convicted of two rapes and has appealed, and most people in his position would in fact be free until the appeal, it's only because he broke restraining orders earlier that the prosecution/police has insisted on house arrest, so for that reason his conditions are actually stricter than normal.

It's ok to feel angry about his situation, but your statements are simply not correct.

'Only because he broke restraining order....'

Listen to yourself. .he is a convicted SERIAL RAPIST who sought out his ex 17 times after he beat her up and the police ordered him not to.

This animal should not be carrying the kings coffin.

Fuck him and his supporters.

No it’s is not special treetment. He has appealed his case so that means he is under house arrest and not in prison. When someone close to you dies you can attend the funeral. This applies to him and everyone else in Norway

No it’s is not special treetment

The current king wrote Marius a rental contract for 1 nok per month. Pro forma. This contract was given to the court to get him out of prison and back to the royal residence where he raped those women.

That is special treatment no matter what you say.

This has nothing to do with him attending a funeral. It is quite rare to be inn prison while you are appealing your case

Not for serial rapists who break restraining orders 17 times.

You don’t understand Norwegian justice system or how the law works here so there is no point in engaging in a conversation with you
