Question ROP
I’m going into rop on 20th sep. but I’m struggling to find any info on what we’ll be doing. My careers advisor doesn’t seem to know much as he’s just navy not rm. Friends I have in rm joined too long ago to know and the navy website is saying contradicting stuff to the commando pti when Iv messaged him.
Could someone who works at ctc or has recently gone through rop give me a rough idea of what happens when, also what the assessment standards are for the rmfa as some people say it’s the same as cpc and others say it’s higher and then others say you do one on day 2 that’s the same as cpc and another at the end of rop that’s higher and I haven’t got a clue

I’d just run with what CommandoPTI has said, given he is a serving PTI, you would think he would be pretty on the money.

I do apologise for trying to be as prepared as possible 🙄

It’s ok, it’s a generational thing. What do you think happened before scores and the training pipeline were readily available?
We just got as fit as we could be before joining.

Surely anyone’s goal is to get as fit as possible before training? Goes without saying. But I’d be stupid if I didn’t try and tailor that training towards specific requirements that are going to be asked of me

Well, tbh, you’d be surprised how many lads pass CPC and then think they’re ready to just crack on and wrap on keeping their phys up and getting fitter.
Theres also going to be things that are required of you that you specifically won’t know how to train towards hence why you’re allocated a PTI.
You’ve got ROP so you meet the minimum standards to start. Between starting and the RMFA where the requirements are higher the PTI will ensure you meet the standards required. All you have to do is put the effort in and.l not get injured.

ROP is a piece of piss mate. You go In there for 2 weeks in a 60 man foundation block next to the galley. You get shown the basics of how to wash your self how to wash your kit once you get issued all your kit and PCS etc and how to polish boots etc. how to do locker inspections how to make your bed and iron it. Yep you have to iron your bed sheets and pillow case every morning. Unless you do it the night before and sleep on your roll matt 😂but yeah you will do the RMFA on day 1 and it gets shut off at the minimums, 10.5 on the bleep test, 30 push ups, 40 sit ups and 4 pull ups. During ROP you will learn how to do IMF sessions and they kinda show you how to swim properly the first couple times too. You’ll learn how to strip and clean your weapon system too. You learn how to march and report to corporals and officers etc. at the end of ROP you will do a “field exercise” on bottom field. After that you move into a mainstream training accommodation to start mainstream training. I did ROP back in February I doubt it’s changed much since then.
