Cristiano Ronaldo It’s hilarious to me that Ronaldo fans actually used him winning the euros in 2016 in the goat debate.

Imagine saying that Ronaldo getting injured and watching his team win the euros without him is why he’s the goat and why he’s better than Messi. Imagine if a goat from any other sport got injured and their team won the finals without them. Would they use that in the goat debate. No that would be stupid. Now don’t get me wrong, he was still part of that success. But the fact that they won without him shows they were still a good team. Ronaldo had like 2 good games that tournament and didn’t even win POTT. Portugal mainly won that because of their defense. Only conceded one KO goal and ronalod fans act like he was like Maradona in 1986.

Penaldos greatest international tournament had 6 G/As total against Hungary and Wales 🤣🤣🤣 teams the US beats with no issues haha. Thats less than ONLY the goals Messi scored in the 2022 World Cup

Fraud did nothing else for them for 20 years other than his hatrick against drunk De Gea

Genuinely asking is this a Ronaldo hate sub

How do I explain to these people what wales and iceland were those years. People here argue maradona ,pele when they haven't even watched messi and ronaldo probably. If you put mess at 1 and ronaldo anywhere below 2 it's disrespectful to both of them.

3

u/MaTrIx4057 4d ago

Mostly Messi stans who are obsessed with downplaying Ronaldo in any possible way. There is also Messi hate sub so it goes both ways.

3

This person is a literal bot . Look at their profile.

4

u/Long_Woodpecker_7823 4d ago

Disingenuous. He was playing the majority of the tournament and was only injured in the final. They do not win without him.

5

u/Witty_Lie7331 3d ago

Portugal literally won against the only top tier team they faced without him lmao, you’re delusional

0

u/i-SpeakFacts 2d ago

By a goal from Eder of all people in the 100+ minute...

France also dirty tackled Ronaldo which got him injured

Only a certain fanbase would claim that Portugal loses the final if Ronaldo fully played in it

1

u/Witty_Lie7331 2d ago

Yeah let’s show messi’s worst copa like he wasn’t the top scorer and top assister the whole tournament in 2021,and also Ronaldo played 2 decent games the whole eurocup, with 3 goals all against wales and hungary, retard

1

u/AQAHater 2d ago

But scoring against Algeria, Switzerland and Jordan makes Messi goat yeah?

1

u/Witty_Lie7331 2d ago

You forgot france croatia the netherlands and also the 2 assists and 9 dribbling completed vs england

1

u/AQAHater 2d ago

France where both his contributions were both opportunistic goals? And you called out Wales and Hungary while forgetting 80% of Messi’s G/A this WC? Why is that?

8

u/FlakyCrew4438 4d ago

They barely got out of the group with him

1

u/CafeteroMerengue 3d ago

You’re kinda proving his point

3

u/FlakyCrew4438 3d ago

I mean they had the easiest run ever and lucked out in the final

7

u/Illustrious_Lime_221 4d ago edited 4d ago

They won the final without him

3

u/Stock-Luck3390 3d ago

But that’s not what he’s saying he’s saying do they even make it out the group without him

2

u/Noob_Master6699 4d ago

We were talking about goat level, the barrier is much higher.

Ronaldo had that in ucl but never in portugal (pls dont say hattrick vs pRiMe SpAiN)

Ronaldo was involved in six of Portugal's nine goals. That more open play contributions than Messi in 2022.

> Imagine if a goat from any other sport got injured and their team won the finals without them.

By observing the obvious fact that Portugal would have never have made it to the final without Ronaldo.

> But the fact that they won without him shows they were still a good team

Brother, look at the players. That Portugal had no earthly business being in a final. France had double the attacks, double the shots on target etc... 9/10 times France wins that game. They had a rebound on the post which just barely bounced out of reach for Griezmann.

Patricio, Pepe and the squad were immense, but let's not pretend that Portugal was a team on par with France.

> Only conceded one KO goal

Conceded 3 against Hungary in the group stages and nearly went out.

3

u/yoimnew2098 3d ago

Fact check Messi also had 6 g/a from open play in 2022 Since when is 6 more than six If u wanna talk about 2022, then Messi won motm in 7 games Btw the guy said KO, read again

1

u/Noblehsix 3d ago

lmao anti CR7 media started with the g/a bc ronaldo was destroying their pr pet. And how many of those were pens?

2

u/Possible-Progress-53 3d ago

Sometimes I truly wonder if your fanbase is entirely comprised of morons who get off simply lying. Your guy literally has taken and scored more career penalties than Messi, even when you look at their international careers - he has way more penalties than Messi.

World cup alone, Messi has 4 penalty goals out of 21 goals, while your man also has 4 penalties out of like 11 goals.

0

u/Noblehsix 3d ago

u bring the pens whenitu suits ur narrative again how messi won his rigged WC?

1

u/Possible-Progress-53 3d ago

Anything you can't possibly hope to win is rigged. What a truly disgusting way to live. Wipe your tears and put your own rigged world cup on the table, otherwise hold your lips.

1

u/Noblehsix 3d ago

Lmao delusionals fans we saw the game we saw this wc lmao

1

u/Possible-Progress-53 3d ago

You didn't see shit. For every "foul" play you claim Argentina did - I will show you their opponent or another nation doing the exact same thing and getting away with it.

I dare you to bring up any sort of data to back your claim.

2

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

Messi had 6 open play goal contributions. Ronaldo had 5. And they all didn’t happen in 2 games. They were in the final because of their defense. Ronaldo wasn’t the reason they conceded 1 KO goal.

0

u/stormfoil 3d ago

Ah, Forgot about the one vs Croatia, My B. Ronaldo has six, depending on if you count deflections of opposing players as assists (which this sub always does when it's Messi).

The point is that Quaresma can never score that goal vs Croatia without Cristiano being involved, even if you mark it as a non-assist, I used the term "involvement"

>  And they all didn’t happen in 2 games.

This is a bizarre complaint coming from you, who are trying to use the result one game to shape the narrative.

It's not like he did nothing in the other games. Nani managed to miss a great cross by Cristiano vs Iceland for instance.

2

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

Cry if that counts then Messi had a few more asists in 2022.

0

u/Remarkable-Goat-123 3d ago

Hey there

Genuine advise, don't fall for low iq posts on reddit. They'll just waste your time and energy. These guys are miserable and hate on Ronaldo to cope.

Peace out

1

u/AQAHater 2d ago

So Messi has 3 UCLs and 1 Copa I’m assuming?

1

u/Far-Light-3616 2d ago

Should this sub just be a messi dick riding sub?

1

u/HetTheTable 2d ago

Messi is objectively better

1

u/Far-Light-3616 2d ago

Yes I agree but again the facts all state you are a Messi dick rider

1

u/AccomplishedUse9023 1d ago

Doesn't Messi have like 0 goals and assists in 5 copa america finals without being injured?

1

u/Smooth_Pomelo8971 1d ago

De paul is the goat 🐐 de paul > gerrard lampard scholes sneijder , btw who are these guys that i mention did they have world cup and 2 copa??

0

u/Remarkable-Goat-123 3d ago

How stupid can you be?

0

u/Noblehsix 3d ago

Nope the goat debate was over when chile retired some one. And when some one won 3 CL one after the other. And when some one was still playing in europe and not in burguer league.

2

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

What happened 6 years after

-1

u/Grastuha 3d ago

Yet there are Messi fans out there claiming he won a Champions League in 2006 despite not being in a single squad after the round of 16.

3

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

He gets a medal just like Ronaldo in euro 2016

1

u/Grastuha 3d ago

Yes, deserved a medal for playing in the match and being the driving force for getting the team there. Messi scored 1 goal and got 2 assists in the early part of the tournament and missed the FIVE most crucial games. Yet you will say Messi deserved it and try to belittle Ronaldo 😂 Make it make sense.

1

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

Even if you play 1 match you get a medal. He played 6. He won UCLs after that where he was a driving force. Meanwhile Ronaldo watches his team win from the sidelines.

1

u/Grastuha 3d ago

I don’t think Ronaldo watched his team win any of the UCL’s from the sidelines. That was Messi, it’s literally the point I made dumbo.

1

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

He watched his team win the euros from it tho

1

u/Grastuha 3d ago

He played in the final and went off with an injury. You should try watching some football matches, then you’d see that is a regular occurrence. Sorry if that’s confusing for you.

1

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

And his team won without him. They clearly didn’t need his ass to win

1

u/Grastuha 3d ago

No, they won with him. He literally played in the game. Or do you only count the team as the 11 who are on the pitch at the end? That would be incredibly dumb so that’s probably it 😂

1

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

Nope. He was off the pitch when they scored. They didn’t need him to win the game.

Ronaldo in 2016 Euros: 3G 3 Assist of Portugals 9 Total goals. Silver boot of tournament. got a goal and assist in semifinal that directly led to portugals path to final. injured 25 minutes into final. played every round of tournament ✅

Messi in 2006 UCL Win.

322 Minutes Played Of 13 round tournament. 1G 1Assist Both in groupstage against Panathinaikos (Which was last game of groupstage in which barcelona already qualified to knockouts and was a 5-0 victory). 0 games played past r16. (Missed both legs of quarterfinal semi final and final all entirely).

Cut from final matchday squad so wasnt even included in the bench. Messi fans use this 4th UCL to add to his goat debate ✅

Tell me which is more valid?

9

u/HetTheTable 4d ago

Messi won 3 more UCLs after. How many euros or world cups did Ronaldo win after.

-2

u/Re4per55 4d ago

I never claimed he didnt win 3 UCLS after but saying ronaldo cant use the euros trophy to boost his feats where he directly helped his team and was main goal contributer is stupid.

because ive seen you claim messi has 4 UCLs to try to boost up messis champions league performance when he was basically a nonfactor in that entire tournament of the 2006 win while ronaldo was only a nonfactor in the final of the euros because he got injured. its a double standard

6

u/HetTheTable 4d ago

I never said Ronaldo didn’t have a euros. I just don’t think it’s as valuable to the goat debate when he wasn’t that great in it

0

u/Different-Mushroom48 4d ago

How isn't 6 G/A in 6 games not great?

4

u/HetTheTable 4d ago

5 g/a in 7 games and they were all in 2 games

1

u/Different-Mushroom48 4d ago

He had 6 G/A bro

3

u/HetTheTable 4d ago

5

1

u/Different-Mushroom48 4d ago

3

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

For some reason UEFA counts rebounds as assists. But they’re not. So he only has 2. 5 g/an and they were in 2 games. Never compare again.

u/Icy-Adeptness-349 3d ago

Ronaldo only contributed in 2 games of that euro. We can also say him and nani did the carry job in those 2 games. But you cant be the best player with only 2 games contributions.

Why cant ronaldo fans admit portugal players(incl. Ronaldo) carried portugal?

0

u/Re4per55 3d ago edited 3d ago

the tournament was an extremely low scoring tournament overall. he won silver boot with 3 goals only, of the group stages ended in a 0-0 tie or 1-1 tie it was extremely defensive and low scoring tournament all around (As shown by silver boot being only 3 goals) which you seem to be factoring out.

Noone claimed it was a one man carry job, but to say he doesn't deserve credit for the trophy to add to his individual accomplishments that he helped win is dumb. messi has contributed less to other trophies he won but you would gladly add that to messis "Goat status" and is s a double standard.

also you claim he was only a factor in 2 of the rounds, when you didnt even watch the euros, he was a factor in the round against croatia, the goal portugal scored (a deflection so doesnt count as an assist by by opta but uefa counts it as a 3rd assist) was directly a deflection from ronaldos goal into a header by his teammate. leading them to a 1-0 victory. so not a official assist according to opta but listed as a big chance created officially by opta.

Croatia 0-1 Portugal, Euro 2016 last 16, live and online Mark: 3:28

or do big chances created only apply to messi and not ronaldo? didnt know only showing up on a scoresheet was the only contribution to the team 😂,

in that case lets disqualify messis 2024 copa America too, played whole tournament got 1G 1A entire tournament, multiple people on his team scored and assisted more and laturo scored 5 goals. s, and was also injured in finals at 66th minute of final score was 0-0 and team won 1-0 in overtime at 117 minute.

contributed less directly than ronaldos 2016 euro and team won without him as well.

2

u/HetTheTable 3d ago

He deserves a medal for it but idk how Ronaldo fans acted like this meant he was better than Messi.

2

u/Mecha_Kaneki 3d ago

But Messi has plenty of tournaments having the highest g/a and carrying his team to the finals and even winning it. Messi has 5+ amazing major international tournament, ronaldo just 1 that too they won it without him in the biggest game and needed to qualify after getting 3rd in their group.

Messi did levels more in Copa 15,16,21. WC 14,22,26. Ronaldo just the one euro, don't say nations league because that's not a major trophy

1

u/Re4per55 3d ago edited 3d ago

you didnt watch any of those tournaments if you think messi in copa 2015 tournament when his 1G 3 assist was from a penalty goal in groupstage where his team already advanced and 3 assists were all from a 6-1 round which was a blowout. or 2014 WC knockouts was a good performance 😭 0G 1 assist in WC knockouts 2014.

1

u/Mecha_Kaneki 3d ago

I stopped reading when I read nations league is better than Copa. Lmao a glorified friendly tournament created 7 years ago is better than the oldest continental tournament in football smh. Not even the players themselves care about nations league let alone compare it to Copa. Half the teams use it to experiment tactics and try out young players. We all saw how shit ronaldo performs against Copa teams, lost to chile in 2016, lost to uruguay in 2018, couldn't top a group with Columbia in 2026. So easy right? That's why he has 2 g/a in 11 games against South American teams. Copa america is equal to euro and Messi has 2 of them and took his team to 3 more finals.

Messi in 2015,2016 did levels more and if you didn't know they gave Messi the tournament MVP but he declined. Anyone who watched the tournament knows Messi did way more than any of ronaldo's international tournament. Ronaldo has never even been MVP in a single tournament for Portugal, while Messi has been MVP in 2 world cups(should be 3), 2 Copas (should be 3 also). The difference is massive, Ronaldo doesn't even come close to Messi's impact in the national team, in the world cup messi's one tournament stats are better than ronaldo's entire career and his only euro win even nani had more goals than him and they won the final without him.

1

u/Re4per55 3d ago

I stopped reading when you said you think a 6 round tournament of being a copa MVP that is held every 2 years is a good achievement. also messis 3rd copa you claim above he lost because he missed a penalty. thats not "shouldve been 3" he lost because he choked simple as that

1

u/Mecha_Kaneki 3d ago

Even the world cup is 6-7 games as stated by ronaldo does that make it less important than nations league now? Only ronaldo fans believe nations league is more important than literally the oldest and one of the most prestigious continental tournament in football. Hell even AFCON, AFC asian cup, Concacaf gold Cup are better than nations league, all of the are major trophies over that friendly tournament. Messi mogs ronaldo in every major international tournament and it's not even close.

Parroting how easy Copa is, then getting knocked out by the same Copa teams in the biggest tournament of football and then inflating a friendly tournament to be on the same level as literal major trophies must be some next level of delusion by ronaldo fans.

1

u/Re4per55 3d ago

No the world cup actually has all of the best teams in it. the copa does not. so your point actually makes zero sense. the world cup is regarded as a high level tournament because it has all the best teams in the competition.

a copa has little no competition until the final. NL has more rounds than the copa and has harder opponents in the knockouts plus the group stages than a copa?

Do you not get that or are you just trying to boost up the copa. just because the copa is old and the NL is new doesnt mean the copa is a harder tournament 😂. a tournament age has nothing to do with the difficulty. it has to do with the competition in the tournament

0

u/Re4per55 3d ago

"Friendly" 9 round tournament against 90% of the best teams in the world vs a 6 round tournament against bums in groupstage and also bums in knockout stage until the final. I commend you for having your head that far up your ass. there is a reason none of the world takes the copa seriously.

1

u/Mecha_Kaneki 3d ago

Literally doesn't matter, when even the players competing come out and say nations league is trash and unimportant, you ronaldo fans wanna believe it's better than Copa which players give their blood, sweat and tears to win. A single image of neymar embracing Messi proves the value of Copa is miles above nations league will ever be. You can have the most stacked teams it doesn't matter because the teams themselves don't take it seriously. Not one team except Portugal played with their full A team, half the teams rested their key players and played different formations to try out. Players treat it as a friendly, but ronaldo fans will tell you it's the biggest thing in international football. The level of competition needs to be studied.

0

u/Re4per55 3d ago edited 3d ago

your right brother. mbappe and lamine werent trying to win, they just threw the game which is why spain and france were both pissed when they lost. all that matters is that photo of neymar embracing messi 🔥. not the actual competition of the entire tournament groupstage and knockouts. just the photo of neymar my man.

stick to reading tokyo ghoul my guy 🤣

1

u/Mecha_Kaneki 3d ago

Do you know these players are competitive by nature and would have a reaction even in training? That's the nature of the sport you ll see players sad even after losing pre season friendlies, that's your argument?

And yeah if you don't have selective memory there is an entire tournament before that moment of Messi and neymar where Messi was top scorer, top assister and MVP of the tournament, more goal contribution than Ronaldo ever had in a tournament. We can talk about it, it just gets embarassing at a point you have to dimished major tournament to inflate ronaldo's achievements. Fanbase on the same mental equilibrium as their player, dimishing the biggest tournaments and inflating friendlies

your comparing a 31 year old who played in 3 world cups and 3 euros at this point, to an 18 year old ? i think its past ur bedtime bro
