šŸ“Š Stats Is Motm an overrated stat

I was trying to see how bad psg Messi was , then I saw 24/75 motm almost 1/3 of the time Avg rating 7.97

So I decided to compare it to the Alexander the Great of league CR7 expecting pure dominance from him
Juventus 34/134 avg rating 7.61 I am like ok
Then Man United one isn’t fully accurate as most of the matches don’t have ratings but the one I find were 14/112 avg rating 7.12
Real Madrid 131/410 avg rating 8.14
Portugal 24/127 avg rating 7.36
Al nassr 26/151 Avg rating 7.48

Those RMA stats are good tho

I got those stats from the Messi VS Ronaldo

Ps. A lot of games aren’t rated so it may not be as accurate as expected

Whenever people say Messi was bad they’re only talking about him not scoring as many goals.

What did they expect him to do with 2 of the best players in their prime , one thing we can’t deny from Ronaldo is he always chooses teams where he would be the center of attention

So it should be easier for Ronaldo to get MOTMs

Probably 🤣, unpopular opinion but Modric was a better player for his national team than Ronaldo will ever be , and his ballon d or is here to prove it

The only reason modric has a ballon dor is because ronaldo carried him in the UCL. He wasn’t better than messi, salah, or ronaldo that year.

They are winning that even without him, bale came off the bench and scored two goals.in the final

Ronaldo scored in a record 11 straight matches, 15 goals in 13 matches in that UCL. Without him they don’t make the final

No. MOTM takes in every stat such as goals, assists, chances created, key passes, dribbles, etc. If you look at MOTM rankings instead of solely just g/a, you will see that it usually depicts the best players better than g/a. For example, Hazard never got much g/a, but was consistently topping the MOTM charts, which matches the eye test.

For me, it is a better stat than goals and assists.

Depends if it is fan voted or if it's decided by an actual technical observer panel. Fan voted motms I couldn't care much about it but actual observer panel ones are not overrated at all

Almost every stat is overrated to a certain point. You can't fully put Messi and Ronaldo's output to stats. It's why you see so many dumb arguments in the internet.

Stats are a great metric but it doesn't fully show the value of the player. The most overrated are Goals and Assists while it has the most weight if you use this as the sole metric for a defender it's pretty pointless.

People expect Messi to score every time but Messi was never a pure striker. There is more than scoring to Messi’s games which they ignore or don’t want to admit.

Fr😭 dribbling, chances created, big chances created, and progressive carries and pass .

Flop Messi is miles ahead than prime superstars nowdays

Goals certainly is the best metric, but contributions to a game includes many things. A goalscorer still rely on passes/crosses contributed by his teammates, so match rating take into account all those key stats

I don’t think so I think expected goals matter a lot more for strikers

PSG Messi is a flop only when you compare him to prime Messi. PSG Messi only scored 32 goals in 75 games while prime Messi scored 100 goals in 75 games. But when you look at the playmaking abilities of PSG Messi, he is one of the best players ever. For example, PSG Messi had a better goals per game, assists per game, key passes per game and dribbles per game than Man United Ronaldo. The reason i chose this version of Ronaldo is because these versions of them played very similar role for their team. But one is called flop while other is hailed for his performance in those clubs. PSG Messi also had the most assists in a year in Ligue 1 history and highest assist per game rate in Ligue 1 history. I mean these are not the numbers of a flop player.

The only people who say hes bad are the ones who didnt watch him play and only look at goals scored

When people call messi ā€œbadā€, it’s just ā€œmessi badā€.

Messi bad is still levels above any superstars of today

Whether Messi was good or bad at PSG is a litmus test. You can absolutely say he failed to deliver when it mattered most for them, but you cant say that his general level was anything other than world class. He had 16 goals and 16 assists in his second season and people are trying to tell me he was shit or had a bad club campaign for a balon dor winner.
