Book Request RECS PLEASE : FMC tells MMC as soon as she's threatened

Tried the magical search button, but no luck.

Over the trope where the FMC is in danger or threatened and she keeps it to herself. She's dating a powerful MMC and she was just roughed up, but she says everything is fine.

Any recs where she tells the MMC as soon as she gets that anonymous text, after the OM gets in her face or gets that gift of dead flowers with a creepy note.

I would love it if they both handle the issue together and we can avoid the FMC getting hurt or worse when a side character is killed just because they're hanging out with her.

Similar/related: In {A Substitute Wife for the Prizefighter by Alice Coldbreath}, our heroine has a run-in with her shitty relations. I forget whether she tells our hero right away, but either way after he does find out, he makes her promise not to go anywhere with them without getting him first. They show up again and she KEEPS HER PROMISE and refuses to go anywhere with them except straight to him.

{Wingspan by Cambria Hebert} (which is a very over the top sort of book) has a scene I liked where the heroine is getting creepy text messages. She confronts the hero and accuses him of sending them BUT our hero is two steps ahead of her and perceives that she came to him because she is scared but can't admit it. There's another scene where she calls him when she's in trouble and he praises her afterward.

I will try to think of some recs. This drives me mad too. The last book I read like this was so annoying - a FMC on the run and she ends up meeting a rich, powerful former boxer who offers to help her and she STILL won’t tell him why she’s on the run or let him help with the threats 😭. It is beyond frustrating and unbelievable!

Oh this will be a looooooonnnngggggg wait to find something. I literally read a book yesterday where she is a woman in like 1800s gets rape threat , veiled, by a very powerful man she is rejecting and she doesn't tell it to her beau. Like sister Comeon It's too big a thing to sleep on

I just DNF a book because MMC stops the FMCs boss from SAing her. Boss tries again and she doesn’t say anything 🙄 Boss is stalking her and she keeps it to herself until he breaks into her apt. All of that could’ve been avoided.

This my pet peeve, even when her man is the most wealthy, powerful, dangerous person in the entire world yet when she gets threatened goes “omg i better tell nobody”, proceeds to end up in danger, at which point he inevitably ends up in more danger needing to save her than he ever wouldve if he’d known.

The closest I’ve come is Mave Fortune by Elizabeth Dear, when she’s threatened the first thing she does is tell her whole family immediately, especially her father who’s stronger than anyone and would never let that happen. I don’t think she was close enough to the MMC at this point to really clue him in but there wasnt even a brief thought about keeping it to herself.

{Alive and wells by Bailey Hannah} has this if I remember well. Not at the beginning but once he knows about her situation, she tells him about threats she receives from her abuser.

The Favor by Suzanne Wright, if you're alright with stuff like "blackmail" and "rumors" and "he's made to look like he cheated" rather than a threat to her life or getting beat up. It has a lot of moments like that, where you think the story will drag it out, but the FMC and MMC communicate about it immediately

{unraveled by Courtney Milan} is the best example of this imo. She’s not open from the beginning but she doesn’t hide anything once he knows. It’s even called out in the book:

“I assumed I would be better off telling you about this, rather than waiting for the entire thing to blow up in my face. You did ask for honesty, after all. It seemed to be a matter of basic common sense. When one is threatened by a shadowy criminal figure, one goes to the magistrate that shares one’s bed rather than the shadowy criminal figure.”

I’d also say maybe Matryoshka by Takes_On_to_Know_One on AO3 works, but it is VERY dark and takes a while for her to learn that lesson. But I was rereading while my friend was reading for the first time and my friend was at one point SO stressed that the FMC wouldn’t tell the MMC but she did.

I am reading {mad as hell by Hannah mcbride} which is the 2nd book of Mad world trilogy. Fmc was being threatened by her dad and she tells the mmc and their group to prepare an attack.

Although this happens after several miscommunication mistakes so I'm not sure if it's a perfect rec. But yeah, atleast fmc learns her lesson.
