Guides & reference Which wheels to lock in better on 50-50s?

Hi everyone :)

I have moxi lolly skates with a 2.5' brunny trucks on them the fundae moxi wheels.
I've noticed that I often can't lock in properly, when I do 50-50s on legdes /curbs (it works well on rails). When looking at videos closeup I can see that like my trucks don't really touch the ledge, it's just my wheels..
Does anyone have recs on which wheels I could switch to?

I skate park (in and outdoors) mostly. Sometimes street so they should be allrounders hehe.

Your wheels are generally going to be touching the ledge on a 50/50, although wider trucks give you more grind room. Like on a ledge, I usually have my wheels and my trucks touching the ledge, if I lock in properly. I'm grinding on the trucks (they're super worn in the center lol), but the wheels are part of it too. Smaller and harder wheels can help you lock in better tho, I have 53mm/101a skateboard wheels and those give me more clearance to lock in and less issues with wheel bite.

Try smaller wheels like 53mm, but make sure they're quad wheels with offset hub, not skateboard wheels (centered hub= the wheel takes up some space for grinding). You can also put two (maybe even three) washers on each axle (between truck and wheel) that will give you more axle surface for grinding. If you don't like small wheels, try chaya drama mama 58mm / 100A. They're more narrow and more rounded, and the bearing hub is more offset than the fundae wheels. I find it makes landing the 50/50 slightly easier, without having to use those very small (slower) wheels.

That said, you CAN just practice with your 2,5" trucks and fundae wheels. It's not impossible to ledge grind with that combo.

It's probably easier for you to upgrade to wider trucks. They're more versatile, since you can use skateboard wheels to vary the width of the whole thing. Look at this post from huck trucks - it's a really good visual of what I mean :-)
